The harbour in Paphos is beautiful and I highly recommend a trip on the Wavedancer boat which takes you out for the day, firstly St Georges island along the Arkimis penninsular and then back down the coast for some swimming in Coral Bay.
There is a big downside to Paphos and that is the touts who are out to con you, beware! Your only reply to them should be "No thank you, not interested" repeat as necessary.
There is not much in the way of beaches around Paphos but there is a lovely stretch of sand at Coral Bay which is easy to get to, either by bus or car, there is a beach bar for drinks and snacks and they have a DJ playing music while you chill (or roast!)on your sunbed, not quite Nissi Beach but good enough.
I whole heartedly recommend both Cyprus and Paphos as a holiday destination for all ages.

Hotel Laura approx 15 mins bus ride into Paphos, dependent on buses/taxis.
Hotel is situated on a busy main road, would often be disturbed by the morning traffic noise.
High viz jacket recommended as there is little lighting in the area. A couple of bars/tavernas and shop by the hotel.
"Tixies" bar was our saviour serving good food and drink, with excellent male vocalist on a Friday evening and TV screens.

This report is for couples without children - we being in our 50's. Resort is clean with minor building going on. Entertainment in immdeiate area is nil. Thats good, as its quiet a night.
Beach at hotel is naff. Its tiny, dirty and full of sharp rocks and covered in seaweed. 3 minute walk left of this section of beach is public beach. Totally clear, walk out 50 feet and up to your knees, totally safe for adults and children. Used it every day, better than the pool. Would we visit again, yes. Very warm, not too noisy in september, 14 good days relaxing. We are told best avoided for couples in school holidays unless you have children. Been there, done it, kids grown up, now its adult time.

We have visited Paphos several times over the years and this year we did notice the resort is far busier with a lot more traffic about and alot of development going on.
We also noticed that the time share people with their scratch card scam have arrived in Paphos.
On the whole we still love Paphos even though it rained in September and we look forward to our next visit.

The rooms were okay but very clean and the amount of time you spend in them does it really matter?
The annimation team were funny and Rio made everyone feel welcome to join in. I actually got hypnotised one night so i was the laughing stock for the next couple of days after that.
There was always something to keep the kids entertained and they offered free scuba diving lessons in the pool every day.
There wasnt much of a beach but that didnt matter cos the pool was just enough. But if you like a nice beach we hired a car and went along to coral bay for the day it was spectacular to say in the least, it was also a nice day out as we ordered a packed lunch the night before at reception which we collected fresh in the morning.
We have only been back 4 days and we are looking into booking to go here again next year but this time i am not taking so many clothes as the weather was fab too.
I would also recommend this hotel if you are looking to get married over there.

Paphos is still undergoing building with apartment blocks going up everywhere.
The public toilets on the harbour are still an absolute disgrace.
The only typical Cypriot entertainment we saw was in the one of the bars in the Bar Street area which had Cypriot dancing and music and you need to book early if you want a table.
Everywhere else it was big screen football matches.
It's a pity that Cyprus in its love of the English has forgotten its past. They are so geared up to making it a home from home for us that there history has been lost somewhere along the route of progress. Sad.

The Pafian Sun Holiday Village doesn't have a beach so we went to Coral Beach which was beautiful. There were plenty of sunbeds available for hire, a wide selection of watersports and a cafe serving good quality food & drinks.
We atein 2 lovely restaurants, Coral King which served excellent food with friendly service and back towards Paphos Town their was Fat Mammas.
Since we were in Cyprus for a wedding we headed to the clubs for the hen/stag do's and there was no trouble at all.
Paphos is a beautiful place to get married especially St Pauls Church where you can have your wedding pics taken in front of the old ruins. Obviously a very popular place for weddings as we saw loads.
