As mentioned earlier we were anxious about going to Conrad due to unfavourable reports. No need to have worried though, the hotel, resort and people were fantastic. We were amazed at the cleanliness of the place. Our rooms were cool and spotlessly clean and bedlinen was changed every day, our towels were sometimes changed twice a day and we were given brand new bath robes, just because we asked for them. Our room number was 1143 and we looked straight out on to the beach. Yes, the bathrooms were a bit 1970's style, but who spends their hols in the bathroom. There was constant hot water and the toiletry basket was filled to overflowing each day, plus plenty of loo rolls.
The restaurant was a little hot for our liking, the windows could have been opened or the air conditioning turned to full blast, but we compensated by eating out on the terrace each day, and because there were 7 in our party, Ibrahim the waiter reserved the large table at the end of the terrace for us. We did, of course, have an ace in our pack - our young grandson aged 2 was a hit with all the waiters and they couldn't do enough for us - and without tipping.
The food was good, plentiful and hot. We did try to stear clear of the salads, but, we all had the trots at one time or another. Just go to the Baron Pharmacy and they will give you the correct medication which clears you up within 24 hours. Drink plenty of fluids, not just a glass now and again, continually top up with water, coke, Sprite etc., but leave it to get warm. Drinking cold drinks is a killer in the heat that we had for our two weeks.
The drinks at the bar in the evening were ok. We are not heavy drinkers so what they served to us was fine. I know some people were complaining about the strength of the spirits, but it was too hot to get drunk. The beer was served in large glasses and we had no trouble in getting refills from the bars. It isn't like England. This is a "dry" country so they do not really know how to pull a pint.
One more word about the restaurant, if you are fortunate enough to have Salah on the omelettes at breakfast time have as many as you can manage, he is a wizard with them and you can have any filling you want.
The evening entertainment was dire. Natalie and Company would rush around for a couple of hours with papers in their hands, and the anticipation of some action was greater than the actual event. We had a rather anorexic belly dancer, much to the disappointment of the men in our party, a Whirling Dervish who ran out of spin during the proceedings, and some other performers who we lost interest in. The high spot was the Quiz Night, and that was only because we won it and had a bottle of Vodka as first prize.
My husband and I did the two day Cairo trip and it was really worth the money. We took pillows with us to snooze on the coach and travelled up the Sinai Peninsula through the night, with two comfort stops. Beware the bog roll sellers in the public toilets. They try to sell you one sheet of paper for LE10 which is the equivalent to

Your welcome talk will be very convincing but dont expect anything else. I was nervous at first about stopping in Egypt because of obvious recent events but the location is very safe even though a little bit isolated I feel your only threat would be the humour of the waiters and bar staff.
As a family and an individual, never within the hotel did I feel any financial obligation toward the staff, simple warmness and friendliness toward these very hardworking individuals seemed to work wonders.
So ignore the tip gags and just treat these people with the dignity and respect you would expect and perhaps the odd smile and you will recieve a decent beer.
The food is done properly even though it is repeated. I think it would be better to have this than a mish mash of experimental one offs. Perhaps the rooms are a little tired but they are clean thanks to our tirless cleaner.
All through the day there is good entertainment and every night in the Panorama bar there is a themed occasion. I particularly enjoyed the karaoke and belly dancing events which I took part in.
As a family we would definitely visit the hotel again and we are going again next year no matter what anybody says.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone with a naturally caring and happy go lucky attitude. Use your manners and respect and that may go further than a pocket full of small dosh!!!!
Special thanks to my friends, Bassem, mego, sameh, emad, maher, osama and walid. See you all soon.

FOOD
Very bad, so many people had bad stomachs it was untrue and the usual rubbish from First Choice that it must be the heat. There was no variety at all, the same food every day. We went into Naama bay most of the time to eat.
BOOZE
Very bad, it's as though they begrudge giving it to you. Tipping does not work they take the money but the next night they forget and you start all over again. The spirits will make you go blind and is probably from Russia. The beers was probably the best but still only a small cup at a time, and you have to pay for the mini bar in your room. It the first 5 star all inclusive that I have had to do this, and it's not cheap.
STAFF
You do get the odd fellow that's very helpful and friendly but the problem here is simple, they are stupid anywhere you go around Egypt they just don't learn that if you nice and friendly and not pushy or rude and ignorant then you will get a lot further.
LOCATION
Best thing about this hotel as its house reef is up there with some of the good diving that happens around the area. As a diver I can vouch for this, I saw eagle rays, blue spotted rays, moray eels and some great coral all off the jetty on the beach. If they could improve the hotel then this could be a big selling point.
FIRST CHOICE
The flight and transfer were fine the rep at the hotel was nice enough and was always around no real complaints except there is no way that the food could be to blame for the many upset stomachs as she carried out her health and safety checks.
CONCLUSION
If you have the chance to change hotels then do it.
Its not 5 star It's a 3 star. It is not an all inclusive at all.

Cleanliness - The hotel is very clean and the rooms are kept sparkling - yes it is a fact the bathrooms are a bit tired but you dont spend your holiday in them!! We had Superior 3rd floor rooms with sea views and the views were spectacular-
Food - After reading many reports, this is the one area that caused a little concern before we left !! No need, the food was VERY GOOD indeed, yes at the end of the fortnight it begins to look similar, but dosnt everywhere you go!! Its is a case of try it before you mock it, you may be surprised. We did eat out at Naeema Bay at the Hard Rock Cafe - and against all odds it wasnt that good, we had wished we had eaten in the Hotel !! The Italian restraunt in the hotel has a good varied menu and is not very expensive if you do fancy a change. The Breads, Cakes, Soups and deserts are to DIE FOR!! While we are on the subject - Belly, Belly.... Yes all 4 of us did have a day 'close to the room' ? but the rule of the road is correct - Immodiom does not work - Antinal DOES !! As soon as you arrive - go to the chemist at the Baron Hotel and get them in!! They cost

The food is good although it is rice chips and chicken every night but different types. All the staff were fab Bassem at the pool bar, Sameh pool attendant couldn't do enough for you.
The hotel was in a great place far enough away from the madness of Namma Bay but easy to reach on the shuttle bus. The beach & house reef were fantastic you won't believe the fish till you see them.
The entertainment team Moe, Howard & Natalie were great they tried really hard especially Natalie she worked her socks off.
Would we return again? Most definitely YES. Can't wait till next September.

Airport. as some people have mentioned this is approx 10 mins away and our transfers went fine, DON'T let the locals put your baggage on the transport as you get hounded for money either way and the coach is only a minutes walk away from the terminal. As most people have commented we didn't bother with the visas (
