There is no entertainment to comment on but there is so much on offer nearby but I would give a big thumbs up to the Alexandros Taverna left along the beach with beautiful bay view and fantastic food and service.

Ask for a room at the rear of the property otherwise you will be disturbed by road and bar noise.
Nikos Taverna - lovely hosts and good food.

I have been to Roda 3 times now and so knew what to expect from this holiday really. So this is for those of you who have not been to the resort yet!
Kerkyra Airport (Corfu Airport) is very hectic and disorganised in a quaint and wonderful way - whether you are arriving or homeward bound! Be prepared to wait =) Oh and a word of advice – when you are going home – wear a hat! You could be queuing outside the airport for a little while and the pigeons do like to err… fly about a bit and do a spot of target practise while you wait in line!
The bus trip to Roda is quite a trek - and may take up to 2hrs (depending on how many drop-offs), and this can take its toll on travelsick sufferers and children. However, if it is daylight when you are on the bus transfer, you do see some very beautiful views!
The resort is lovely - quiet, calm, no clubs; a beautiful place to relax and unwind. There are a few lovely walks you can take and for the fit of us - Acharavi (neighbouring village) is only 3km away.
The beach in Roda is muddy sand with shingle, very narrow with shallow waters, so if you are primarily going for a sandy beach - this is not the resort for you - Paleokastritsa or other west coast resorts will suit you better.
If it is a bit of nightlife you desire - again Roda may not be for you. Sidari a few km away is a lot more lively and destined to become the new Magaluf or Kavos resort - basically if you can't live without a MacDonalds and enjoy clubs - Sidari is more what you want! =). In fact, place a large tower there and you could mistake it for our own Blackpool!
The Corfiot people in Roda are very friendly (and not in a creepy ‘you like my boat?’ type way either). Honest, hard working people who appreciate the effort you make when trying to speak Greek - so do try! - Yamas=cheers, Kali mera = good morning, ef karisto = thank you.
I adore Roda. I love its charm and its picturesque landscapes (even when it rains – and it does you know!) It literally wrenches my heart when I leave. Even though the west coast of the island has nicer beaches (Pelakas, Glyfada, Paleokastritsa) and even though the transfer from the airport is nearly 2 hours opposed to only 1 hour at some resorts (Dassia, Ipsos, Kalami) – I always find myself going back to Roda, and I probably always will…

The dusty road at the top of Charlies hideaway, led 2 ways, one way towards Roda village centre, the other way towards some other villas and restaurants.
We were a mere 5 minute walk from the nearest restaurant (other than the one charlie ran on the complex.) We walked into Roda village and were greeted along the way by locals and holiday makers alike, it wasnt busy and we werent mithered by anyone(which my veteran package holiday buds say is rare!. The village is small enough not to be too manic but large enough to have a nice buzz to it.
There were plenty of restaurants, shops and bars (a couple of english run ones). All I can say about the food was it was fantastic. We were self catering, which meant we fended for ourselves at breakfast and lunch but always had a meal out in the evening (with lots of house white!) We ventured in a different restaurant each night and the value for money was rather amazing.
Restaurant Odysseus on the main road, you have to try the Meze. It was 13 euros a head and you had 5 massive courses (we ended up taking some of the meat home in doggy bags!!) All the waiters/ owners were lovely and didnt mither, some even came and chatted to us for a while. The one thing they all had in common was a real family feal and authetic greek food. We usually ended the nights with the odd cocktail or 10 (3.50 euros for one) in the surrounding bars and we loved Pirates bar. Most of the bars had quizzes on, karaoke nights all that kind of jazz and the music was all varied.
Our Rep gave us some prices for day excursions, but we found a few tourist places nearby that were much cheaper.
One of the tourist places (opposite the chinese restaurant) in Roda town had safety deposit boxes supplied for free as we were with first choice (the complex didnt have them).
We went on a trip to Corfu town by boat at night and another boat trip during the day. Both trips cost about 15 euros per person and you were fed on board. It was as we wanted a chilled out girly holiday where everyone was friendly, helpful and great. We all had a great time and I would love to go again.
Would we recommend Venus apartments?? No! Because if you all go that means there wont be room for us!!! We would highly recommend it and I promise you will return, I'm sure its just because of them Gods in the mountains putting a spell on us!!!

There are plenty of bars and eating places in Roda itself. Also plenty of gift shops and supermarkets. It is a very relaxing place and we felt very safe there.
The beach was clean and safe, with plenty of sunbeds available. I would recommend this resort to families or couples because although Roda is a busy little resort, it still maintains its charm.

Roda is a fairly small and not too busy place, there are a number of bars and restaurants and a good few shops. I would say that the resort is more suited to couples . It still has the feel of a small Greek village which is very nice. You can stroll around during the evening with no hassle, no one will try to drag you into their restaurant. All the locals are extremely friendly and polite. As you can see this is one of my favourite places to visit.

Although myself and 3 friends had a wonderful week in Sidari, we all said we would not return again. I have been to about 8 Greek islands and feel there are more charming resorts and islands to visit.

"Roda has all the charm of a motorway service station" (as described in the Lonely Planet guide) and that description is right. No Greek character left, which is a shame. All English pubs, full English breakfast and football. YUK!!!
BUT the food at some of the restaurants was excellent. The Odysseus was really good. There was another on the front next to Captain something or other but can't recall it's name.
Beach just average, seen better beaches in the West Country, to be honest.
Would'nt return because it's not typically Greek. Felt more like England to me!

This resort leave a lot to be desired, the beach was not good, the place was not well kept, though the people were friendly, and the Roda Tavern and Maggies Place being the highlights of a resort with not a lot to offer.
We ate at the Roda Park Tavern which did a reasonable meal for a reasonable price, but recommend a little place on the main road, Marakis, where you could obtain an excellent mixed grill.

Roda was such a beautiful island-lovely views and a clean pebble beach. Spolit for choice where restaurants were concerned-would definitely reccommend "Enigma"-a lovely Italian restaurant, "Taverna"-traditional greek cuisine and "New Port"- traditional greek but the man who I call "Captain Bird's Eye" who works there is a giggle!!! Did not have one bad meal in our week's stay. All in all it was a lovely holiday-would definitely come back again-fab!!!

Roda is a very quiet but pretty resort. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

I found Roda to be very clean and if you get up early enough you see a handful of stray dogs walking around in a pack looking for affection.
There is plenty to do in Roda day or night, watersports were slowly being introduced in September and I understand that it will continue into the 2006 season. During the evening you have Elvis impersonator Darren at Maggies he is fantastic, he also does a couple of shows singing requests made by customers. There are loads of resturants and pubs, but only a couple of clubs for the evening Domus and right opposite is The Drunken Sailor (my favourite) in May, the clubs tend to close about 2-3am depending on how many customers they have, we then proceeded onto Acharavi (Greek night club - no tourists) or Sidari where these clubs stay open until at least 6-7am in the morning. In July and September 2005 the Roda clubs stayed open until 5-6am. More than enough for us party animals. You can then go home, get ready for the beach and sleep of all the partying on a sun lounger (as there are plenty). The beach was a bit seaweedy, but they were tidying it up and extending the beach in July and September.
