The sea front walk is very nice with a few shops and lots of tavernas and restaurants.
Zorba's restaraunt is a must while the bar next door (On the Rocks)is also very popular with good reason.
The beach is very clean but is made up of a sort of grey shale.

The resort of Ierapetra (pronounced by the locals as Iraptra)is very pretty with a long beach which curves for approximately 3/4 to 1 mile. At the end of the hotel is an alley leading to the promenade which follows the curve of the beach all the way to the port. Shops and tavernas are dotted along the promenade and at the end the old fortress is worth a visit and the harbour with fishing boats and fishermen. We walked along the front most days and visited the shops. The "Cafe on the Rocks" has football on SKY TV. This is a very unspoilt part of Crete and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet time.

Ierapetra is a very quite place to visit but was good for us as we wanted to spend a week relaxing. The cafe on the rocks is a nice place to get a drink out of your hotel and the food is great there.

The resort has the potential to be a pretty up and coming resort. It looked like a lot of work hadn't been finished and this gave the impression of things (i.e. pavements looking dirty and shabby). This is something which will probably happen naturally through time. The resort entertainment was fine. A few nice shops and bars and the friendliness of the staff working in these bars was very good. The beach unfortunately was very pebbly and quite littered with rubbish. We would probably come back to Crete to stay in a different resort but would probably visit Lerapetra to meet up with some old friends we met. The climate of Crete is perfect!!!!

From what we saw the town is lovely. Very clean and the people very freindly. Go to Mark at Cafe on the Rocks for your football matches, lovely bloke! The beach like most of the Greek islands is shingly but the fantastically clear waters more than make up for it. It was alot bigger than we were expecting with quite a lot of different shops, a lovely harbour and an old fort to explore. Didnt get to look around as much as I would have liked as it was too hot to drag the kids up, and they were more interested in the pool and kids clubs.

We dont know much about Ierapetra itself.

The sea front is clean , it is more of a working town than tourist one.

The harbour and forth are interesting with boat trips if you like.

The resort is clean and the greek people are very nice to speak to in the bars.

Also there is no litter on the floors and if you cant find anything just ask someone in the bars cause they will help you and it is very safe for people to walk along the beach front.

Well done First Choice, you lived up to our expectations yet again. This Hotel is fantastic for families, we travelled with a 5 and 9 year old and they both were reluctant to come home.
Location- This hotel is in an ideal location, away from the hustle and bustle but near enough for shops and souvenirs. The beachfront location is excellent and the beach not as bad as earlier reviews have stated, both children manageed fine without beach shoes although the sand does get very hot. Brilliant snorkelling and watersports, even my 5 year old enjoyed the jet skis.

The cleaners at this resort must work 24/7 always cleaning the endless sand from the beach !

Lots to do throughout the day for all ages.Pleasure to beat the Germans at water polo too !

Beach was clean and although rocky safe and warm.Plenty of snorckling and water sports avail. at reasonable prices.

Entertainment team was superb always something going on and in the evening always entertained.
Mel was outstanding, terrific during the day and a fantastic singer-more like her please

No thing bad to say about this resort def recommend to families-if your going on holiday and want to have fun and sun this is the place for you.

The resort is generally clean, with a variety of shops selling all kinds of tourist type things at reasonable prices and bars which show football matches etc.The beach is shingle and stone not sand and parts of it are very dirty although the sea is pleasant and warm.
