The best Villa in Maroulas Village. River beach is a great place for sunset and to eat fish.

The beach was long and mostly sandy but getting into the sea past some rocks was a bit off putting. Variety of food was a bit limited.

This resort area also has a seafront promenade with frequently positioned bench seating where you can rest, look, listen and enjoy the sea breeze.
The food quality is also very good and well presented in surrounding restaurants and grills if you fancy a romantic meal out. Most people we spoke to had a favourite. We would recommend 'Ambrosia' for its excellent service. Yassoo Costas! We also highly recommend the 'Entasis Cafe & Cocktail Bar' for its quality (good measures) and competitively priced drinks 4 Euro for all alcoholic cocktails, 2.90 Euro large Mythos. It is a very friendly, clean bar on the seafront. Hello to Mario (welcomer/part time entertainer), Maria (A shining star -service with a smile) and Manoli (Boss Drinkmaker extraordinaire!)
The Entasis is furnished with very comfortable seating, often bathed with a cooling sea breeze. It can be found by turning right outside of the hotel Porto Rethymno and is within two minutes walk. Their usual courtesy freebies as you leave, pack a punch too! Yammas!
Rethymno old town with its narrow shop filled streets, ancient sites, churches such as the Basilica of Saint Franciscus, museums and venetian harbour are certainly worth the visit and are within easy walking distance of the hotel.
Overall a fantastic holiday. We'll be back.

Rethymnon is a great place to go if you want a great relaxing holiday, its not the most crazy place, if you like the mad clubs go to Malia.
This place is a little hidden secret we discovered about 5 years ago and we have gone back every year since.
It has everything you need to enjoy every second of your holiday and the food is amazing

Cleanliness was excellent, entertainment was poor for adults amateurish but good for kids. Private beaches around hotel were spotles, secluded, great! Will come back again but without baby , due to location.

This was 4th or 5th visit - there's lots about the town elsewhere : I mainly wanted review the studios. But just to say a lovely town, wonderful old buildings and twisty streets, interesting sites, good shopping, loads of great places to eat too. A great base for exploring Crete. There is a very long beach nearby but not immediately near Pepi studios

Resort is typical greek mixture of old and new, plenty of old streets to wander round, please walk the streets around the back of the old harbour this is the old town.Plenty o entertainment, from greek live music to Irish bars.beach is spotless, but can get a bit rough when the wind gets up,so pay attention to the flags,Bus station handy for trips out.clean.ontime and cheap, having stayed at Theartemis many times we have not found fault, but remember there is always a first time.

The town of rethymnon itself is definitely worth a visit.
Don't eat in the resraurants along the front there are much better and more atmospheric ones in the old town for example the Avra or the Veneto
