The resort was a shock at first what with litter and cow dung everywhere you walked but you got used to watching your step. Entertainment was very limited. The traffic was horrendous what with cars and mopeds who seemed to aim at you until the last second. The cows were the only creature that could stop the traffic. The beach was kept to a good standard with lifeguards all along the seashore.Eating places called shacks were along the beaches although their toilet facilities could turn the strongest of stomach's.
All in all an experience not to be missed

No issues with the hotel, expect from not being able to find friends rooms the first few nights!! The room was basic, clean and was cleaned everyday by the same 2 young men who were very pleasent. Not great English but this did not prevent them from trying.
All staff at the bar/breakfast area were friendly and would assist were possible. English good no problems with service except everyone is on goa slow mode which is to be expected.
If we eat at the pool think most of us eat King Prawn, Tiger Prawns and prawn cocktails...lush We did not get told we had 20% dicount until last week which was not a major issue becuase food is sooooo cheap and the TIGER Beer is very good.
Calangute beach was very busiy however it didn't appear dirty. You do get bothered on the beach but this wasn't a major problem, be aware once you buy you will attract a hold load of woman and kids wanting to sell you stuff but the bar men will ask them to move away if they become to much. If your abit of a party animal Anjuna Beach 'Curlies Bar' on a Tuesday night is wkd.....goa trance from about 5pm till 12midnight could go on abit longer but hay... we didn't go after party but maybe our next visit we will:-)
Markets are excellent, again anjuna!! wooow
I would defo recommend GOA to everyone who loves a change in culture, friendly people who want to sell you lots of stuff at cheappppppp prices....

Calangute is a very busy resort but well placed for visiting Baga and Candolim. It is a bit of a shock the first time you have to negotiate your way along the high street when it seems that cars and bikes are coming at you from all directions but you will soon be crossing the road like a local. Calangute is a residential area so in some ways much more interesting than Candolim if you want to see local life. There is a brilliant local market at the end of the high street opposite the temple at the back of the shops, well worth a visit to see the lovely fruit and veg and the fish on sale. Buses run along the road very frequently so you are able to visit Candolim and Baga for a few rupees another experience not to be missed. Unfortunately this year there were issues with the shacks not being erected until just before Christmas so the beach life wasn't in full swing for our first week and it wasn't being cleaned as it usually was but this changed in our second week. If you go at Christmas, New Year or Easter you have to be prepared for lots of Indians on the beach who just wander up and down staring at all and sundry which can make things a bit crowded. Weekends are also busy with the local people but as the Indians and Goans don't seem to bother with sunbeds you wont find it a problem getting a bed although the shacks can sometimes get busy as they tend to buy a drink and sit there for hours. This was our 11th visit to Calangute and we have booked to go back in December 2010.

never stayed in this part of calangute before, do prefer candolim ,(quieter & cleaner),however where molly malones is situated on a back road was very good with nice stalls and shops especially the modern cake shop which we visited most days for beautiful cakes and sandwiches, costing 20rupes(74 to the pound)how cheap is that.Calangute centre by the roundabout is very noisy and a lot of rubbish in parts but this is india.lots of stalls and shops nice restaurants and a few nice bars. The main beach good but used mainly by Indian tourists. We used the beach near Mollys down a track by Tuc Tuc(as I have limited walking conditon)50 rupes 5mins, used Greggs shack who we have been to before. lovely beach but beware of the sea very rough, good for splashing about it not swimming. Our third visit to Goa and we love it, no matter where you are, the culture, the weather, the lovely people, once you see past the poverty and realise you are in a third world country you will fall in love!

Great beach, lovely warm water. Plenty of beach bars to cater for all tastes. The resorts of Calangute and Candolim are very lively with a great variety of restaurants and bars. You really can find whatever you want here, whether it's staying up and partying the night away or enjoying a more laid back, relaxing and romantic holiday. A short inexpensive taxi ride to Baga will provide even more nightlife should you want it.

India is a fantastic place to visit and it is must, i would definately go back but i would not at this resort again, it needs a serious facelift to attract holiday makers.
As for the entertainment it was zilch but there are so many other places to go and see.
