calangue was a mental place...its so busy and the drivers are mad.....lol.....the roads are full of cars, buses, scooters, tuk tuks, cows, dogs and people all trying to get somewhere quicker than the other...its so funny.we went to baga beach and thought it was much quiter and prettier. brittos and oceanic are a couple of the best shacks we went to at baga beach.theres also a little restaurant we found on the last night in candolim called coyotes and i wish we had found it earlier as it sold frozen strawbwerry daiqiris and had great food and ambience.we went to the prison which was crazy. there is a company called daytrippers run by a yorkshire fella called eddie and they are fantastic...we went to the waterfalls and they are spectacular and also on a trip called all in one day and we seen everything..a village, a hindu temple, a school, the cashew factory, the spice plantation which was great and we rode on,washed and were washed by the elephants...our tour guide avi was so informative and very funny.theres a place in calangute called the chippy and i would advise anyone to never eat in there as the food was awful, we ordered food but left it and just paid the bill as it was awful.all in all we had a great holiday and are in the process of looking for a return trip in march

We enjoyed trying different restaurants in the resort, particularly those used by locals, where you can get an excellent vegetarian meal and drinks for under 100 rupees per person.
The resort, as with most resorts in India, is not particularly clean, but that is part of its charm. Cows are regularly seen munching on plastic bottles and rubbish that litters the streets.
I cannot comment on the entertainment as did not experience it. A visit to the cinema in Panjim is a must. We were fortunate to be able to see Slumdog Millionaire there on its opening night.

Calangute is a good resort and quite lively in the evening if you go into town. There is always the pestering from taxi driveres and sellers.
The general area along the streets is strewn with litter as it everywhere else but the beach is kept very clean. Dogs can sometimes be a nuisance on the beach.
There seem to be far less sellers on the beach this visit and several shacks have security guards patrolling to ensure sellers are kept away.

We stayed in Calangute which is busier than Candolim but this year both were very quiet ,people complain about dirt, cows, pigs and even dogs but after the first hour of the most amazing food, smells and happy happy people this all becomes part of it, a sheer joy.Hotel Carmino is great to stay at air con no extra charge plus fans sat tv and so peaceful just what we all need at this moment in time.

We really enjoy the resort of calangute, people do call in dirty but it is poverty not dirt, these people do not have the money for such as dustbin men. There are many bars and plenty of places to eat and the beach is to die for, there are women going up and down the beach picking up all the litter,we will be back again next year

the resort calangute was very busy hustle and bustle was a little too much but i was quite entertained by it all . i could buy just about anything and eat and drink in the large choice of places . the beach at calangute was busy but quite nice to walk along . the sea was a bit choppy and again i could sit and soak up the sun and get a drink from numerous beach bars .
