Beaches

Bugibba has no beach at the moment so unable to rate acurately on this. A man made beach is being constructed. The resort is generally fairly clean, the biggest problem is that dog owners do not clear up after their dogs! Resort entertainment is limited but we visited in low season - this may be better in high season. All in all a very lovely resort which we visit regularly for a relaxing holiday.

We like Bugibba, we now quite a lot of people there, both ex pats and maltese, if you want rowdy try st Julians/paceville, not nice. Bugibba is easy, quietish and relaxing, you can always travel to other spots.

The cleanliness can be a bit lacking due to the amount of doggy doo! It seems that the streets are full of litter but this is because the Maltese put their bags of rubbish out each night for early morning collection
The entertainment in St Pauls and Buggiba is for all tastes if you look for it
The BEACH!!! yes buggiba now has a new man made beach.

Horrible, Horrible, Horrible. Never again, constantly harassed by time share sellers, who turn nasty and rude when you decline.
The resort is disgusting, bags of rubbish everywhere, dog dirt, litter, there is no entertainment as such just a few restaurants all serving the same old food, although if you have already booked, definitely try Malta bread, delicious.
And look for the Irish bar on a Friday night generally a good turn. would never go back.

St Pauls itself was lovely, nice small shops at main road, we used to in the evenings take a walk along the front and see locals swimming in the sea, very friendly people and would speak to you as English is their second language.
Would continue on to Bugibba, again nice shops, mostly tourist shops, then go to large square where there is lots of nice restaurants/bars where you can sit there and watch world go by, kids can play around. There was trampolines for kids to play on which they enjoyed in the evening (just beside McDonalds in Bugibba).
My husband hired boat and went fishing, he didnt catch anything but he went tour round St Pauls Bay and went through caves, got off at other islands and saw St Paul's statue up close, it was LM20 for 5 hours and they provide you with all fishing equipment & life jackets. He went out again and took our children and their 2 friends (I don't do boats!!).
Valetta was fantastic, beautiful city, just 50c on bus, market on Sunday but rest of Valetta mostly closed apart from cafes, I went back myself on Saturday and the place was alive with musicians, etc.. didn't want to leave.
If you want beach go on approx 15 bus ride to Melihlia Bay(sorry can't remember spelling of it) which is to the north of the island, good sandy beach which has large inflatable island in the sea (trampolines etc) and water doesn't get deep for approx 50 metres which makes it safe.

The Resort was clean and tidy and walking the street in day and night were fine, the main bars and resurtants were very very good and a wide range to choose from which was nice.
The beach area is nice and tidy but a pitty not a sandy beach but the Huggy Bear cafe on the front with the day rate sun beds was very good and nice food.
I would come back to this resort again.

Bugibba is a rocky cove not a beach so if you want a beach holiday - don't go there. There are a few great beaches nearly (Mellieha, Golden Bay, Gneja) and these are easily accessible from Bugibba on the bus system.

The best restaurant we found was named Strawberry Grove which is located near to the BHC. It is operated by a very nice family who provided very good quality food, we used it 4 times. The resort lacks a beach but other features make up for that. Visit to dolphin, sea lion and parrot show is good for kids. Bus service is inexpensive at only 23 cents to Valleta. While at the airport I noticed there is a service from the terminal to Valleta and from there you can go anywhere on island. Did not use any taxis. Lambert and Bulter cheaper than Spain at approx 14ML but premier spirits are more expensive than UK. Will visit again.

Bugibba was a bit dirty with rubbish and the smell of sewage but bareable lol. The beach was rocky but really nice with clear blue waters, watch out for jelly fish!!There are lots of pubs, ect in Bugibba espcially the square.
