We stayed in Bugibba at the BugibbaHoliday Complex and unfortunateley some parts of the resort are quite grubby. The main centre is clean but as you go into the back streets where the hotels and apartments are situated it is not quite so clean. This is down to people - would you throw a black bag full of food into the road outside your house. No- well why do it while you are on holiday. The buildings are very old and some of them could do with updating but they are spending money on the resort and part of the charm is the fact that they have every single eletricity cable running up the outside of the building.

Bugibba is a family resort and I believe the Maltese people spend their holidays there- so that is a good advertisment.

We wanted a relaxing holiday and in Bugibba you can have that as it does not have loads of discos but there are several nice bars with entertainment(usually Karaoke.) The prices are much as they are in the UK and the cigarettes and alcohol are not as inexpensive as in the Canary Islands but still much cheaper than UK.

No problem with changing money as there are 2 banks which open normal banking hours and the foreign exchange in the bank is open between 1800-2100. There is also a machine in the bank foyer which changes notes to currency but I couldn't quite get the hang of that.

The local bus service is very good and runs regularly between all the resorts and they also run quite late at night so you can have a good night out and still get back.

We have been going to Malta for many years and Buggiba is one of the worst places we have stayed in Malta. Nothing to do but sit at bars look at shops and getting a sore bottom sitting on the rocks at the so called beach.

We found the resort to be clean with a very good feel about it. The square in Buggiba was particulary nice in the evening.

There was quite a good selection of restaurants and shops.

Only fault would be the lack of beach, we had to get a bus to the neighbouring resort Mellia Bay. But we did understand this when we booked that Malta is not known for it beaches.

You need to look around for the entertainment, best off down the square few nice bars there. We like paradise bay the best, blue lagoon in comino is a must to visit. You prob wont see any blue flag beaches here, but they do have crystal clear waters.

I would recommend Malta to anyone who is prepared to get up and leave the resorts - hire a car!

Bugibba is a typical fast built concrete jungle tourist resort, more functional than beautiful.

My advice, use Bugibba as a fairly central base, take the ferry to Gozo, or drive/bus to Valetta and walk, best early in the morning, visit a village/town Festa, great fun!

Mdina is a beautiful city, but forget the horse drawn carriages.

In my opinion, Malta is a place you will either love or hate!

Buggiba is a brilliant location other than it has no sandy beach - only rocky beaches. however, there are a few only a 10 minute bus ride away, but dont let this put you off - its a really nice place with restaurants of every kind in every street, plenty of pubs, plenty of nice locals to help and plenty of local shops which sell local foods (bread etc) for peanuts.

stay here if you are not too bothered about a sandy beach. Also you can travel to the blue lagoon via a short boat ride and also golden bay which also has to be visited.

Bugibba is what you make of it - dont go if you want to pose on a beach. It is an excellent base for exploring the island using the quirky yellow buses which are a must.Plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. Bugibba is also a resort for the Maltese who flock there at weekends to enjoy the bars and restaurants along the promenade. Do as the Maltese do and join in the open air dancing or watch the world go by. Go with an open mind and a sense of humour. The pavements are bumpy and the car drivers are hilarious. The only downside for us were the annoying time share touts. Ignore them and dont be drawn unless you want to.

the resort was within easy walking distance of the hotel.it was like a small version of blackpool . it wasn't the cleanest and it was very limited on entertainment or things to do. the only thing we went down for in the end was the souvenier shops and the local take away. malta it's self has alot of catching up to do if it is to encourage more tourists to the island. there is alot of history there and alot of beauty but this is badly spoilt by the dirt and general lack of clealiness around. we would not visit malta for along time . if ever
