Use the hotel taxi to the town/beach, and there is a washer in apartment so take wash tablets.
Quiet on Sundays but still some things are open..

The resort is lovely and there are lots of lovely restaurants in it to choose from, the beach is beautiful.

alvor is like a holiday resort closing down, rubbish lying at side of roads and restaurants closing down and being told it is not safe to walk at nights by hotel staff.

Alvor is absolutely charming. Great beaches. Great beachfront bars.
Not much of a nightlife but very friendly bars. Not an 18 -30 venue.
Lovely harbour and 6km of beach to walk if your up to it.
Sea is cold but once you are in it is fine. Lost going on when the fisherman bring their catch in - worth an early look.
The beach gets busy at weekends (Portugese also holiday here)
Plenty of eating venues, go off recommendations from other holiday makers.
We will definately be going back.

every thing clean and tidy around the beach area but lots of building work going on all around hotel area and leading to beach, the walk to Alvor was much further than we thought too far to go for an evening stroll.

Alvor is a beautiful little place with cobbled streets (ladies get wedged heels). There are quite a few stray dogs but they all have had rabies jabs so don't worry to much. We found the place great for couples but lacked entertainment for our 5 and 7 year old kids. They did have a great time though. The food in alvor is fantastic. We found a gorgeous restaurant just off the main strip called Ruccula. Wow, the food was beauitful and the family that run it were so friendly and lovely. The walk to the beach isn't a pleasent one, the whole place needs cleaning up it's very baron and rough looking but worth it when you get on it. The beach is very clean and carries on for miles. Alvor is lovely place to stay and i would reccommend it to everyone.

Alvor is a nice resort if a little small. The paved streets are great for walking round on a night whilst you choose where you are going to eat and there is plenty of choice. Not once in 14 days did we have a meal which I was not satisfied with or did not consider value for money. The best advice we were given was to take a jacket on a night, certianly for the first week as the wind would blow in off the Atlantic so it could feel cold once the sun went down. The beach is great, a long strip of sand with plenty of room for everyone. Our second week the sun blazed away and it got up into the middle 30's each day. Not much choice on the shopping front if you intended to self cater, thus prices were a little high.

there were a lot of stray dogs (which was expected) but not a lot of the mess was cleared up. perhaps it was too early in the year to keep things tidy, not sure. otherwise a lovely quaint fishing village. **check out the statue by the harbour front with the seagull. one part of it is back to front!! Kids thought it was hilarious!!**

The town with lovely restaurants a-plenty (Alcaide was super as was Bouganvila) and the gorgeous beaches fairly close too.
