Use the hotel taxi to the town/beach, and there is a washer in apartment so take wash tablets. Quiet on Sundays but still some things are open..

We would visit this resort again. We were staying in a fantastic location, with many restaurants and the beach very close by. People were generally very friendly.

The resort of Alvor was brilliant, the streets were clean and there was no litter anywhere near the Dunas Do Alvor complex. There was a bit of a dog muck situation though! But don't worry, that could be avoided by staying away from most grassy areas.

There was so many places to choose from to eat, it was great! We ate in a different restaurant almost every night! Most of places great, but if I were you, I would give the Restaurant Chines Grande Muralha a miss! The only place we ate which was rubbish!

The beach was fabulous, spectacularly clean and you could choose a quiet spot if you dont mind walking a bit, it was your own private stretch of beach if you wanted it. It was certainly one of the best beaches that we have visited!!

Entertainment wise, Alvor you may say lacks a bit to places like Spain. It was a fairly quiet resort as in the restaurants and bars, no music was playing at all, only a select few played music, and that's not what we are used to much! Down near the harbour, there was a bit of entertainment on a small stage, but only on select nights.

All in all, we had a fantastic holiday in a fantastic resort in fantastic apartments. If you are looking for a fabulous holiday, don't delay, this is the place for you!

The town of Alvor is a pleasant stroll from the Dunas Do Alvor apartments. There is an abundance of shops, bars and resturants to choose from with something to suit all tastes. The beach is breath-taking, I would recommend a visit. Near by resorts can be reached by taxi or bus. You will need to buy a ticket from the ticket office before getting on the bus. A visit to the town of Lagos is recommended. It's very similar to Alvor - bigger but retaining its charm. I would recommend Alvor to anyone.

The village of Alvor is FAB, but at first were a bit unsure, it certainly grew on us.

It is a lovely fishing village, with plenty of places to eat and drink, a couple I would recommend are GOODVILLES, VAGABOND, (both steak houses), GRAND MURALAH (chinese resturant.)

The beach is FAB, I would recommend you hire a car, we visited cape st Vincent(lands end of Portugal)there are plenty of small great beaches to stop at on route. At must in the car is Monchique and foio in the mountains, the views are amazing.

We went also to Splash and Slide water park with Thomsons on a coach, it was a brill day, out 5yr old loved it, a few slides are minimum age of 12yrs but still a lot of big rides with a minimum of 5yrs, don't worry if they can't swim, they can go down slides with arm bands, and do let you wait a bottom for your child.

Overall I would recommend this resort, we loved it, and are gutted we had to come home. We went on the 4th of May til 18th May 06, and the weather was GREAT very hot, prob 30 degress some days. Only been home a day.

Probably will go back again next year.

Alvor is a nice old fishing town, with very quaint narrow cobbled streets, and a relaxing harbour set in an estuary. Some of the buildings are a little shabby, but this doesn't detract from the charm of the place. The main shopping/restaurant/bar area is mostly pedestrianised, so is very safe to wander around. There is a newer part of the town with a few high rise buildings, but it doesn't feel overdeveloped or spoiled by this.

Entertainment is low key, there are no discos as such, but many of the numerous bars have music, and are open until quite late. This makes for a nice friendly safe atmosphere for couples and families, with no gangs of drunken hooligans present at the time of our visit. Restaurants we tried and would recommend are: Al Dente (Italian) Hong Kong (Chinese) and Goodville (English/European) there were lots of special deals on offer, a meal for 2 with wine could be had for just 25 euros!

Alvor beach is superb, a vast stretch of clean fine sand, and safe clean water. Nearby Prainha beach is well worth seeking out, it is simply beautiful, with little coves and walk through hollows in the cliffs. There is a lovely elevated bar/restaurant called the Canico (can also be accessed via a lift) cut into the cliff face, perfect for sipping a ice-cool drink whilst you take in the gorgeous surroundings.

We would most definately return to the area at some time, and heartily recommend it to anybody, provided they don't desire a frenzied nightlife.

Alvor is very clean and tidy, didnt see one bit of rubbish on the streets whilst i was there.
Resort entertainment is good although most of the pubs turn into kareoke bars at night so its good if you like to sing!! Lots of lovely little restaurants too that sell great food.
Beach was lovely, visited in May and beach was nearly empty so we had the beach to ourselves! it was very nice.
we would definately visit Alvor again, its a lovely place.

Alvor is a lovely fishing village with lots of super seafood restaurants, most barbecuing fresh fish in view of passers by. Lots of little bars for evening entertainment, but we stayed mainly on our complex at the Cactus bar where there was live music by Mark each night from 9pm and his wife Ali made great coctails. The beach was lovely and the fishermen could be seen cleaning their catch by the fishing huts in the mornings. We would love to return to Alvor but need to go to a few more places that we haven't been to yet.

Restuarants very good.

Bars all had numerous televisions in all with football on, which is great if you like football, but some of bars after 10pm had good entertainment.

Beach very nice. Alvor very quiet village.

Alvor is a quiet small fishing village. It has a beautiful long beach. It is great for people who like walking as there are plenty of good walks with lovely scenery. It is not for those who seek plenty of British entertainment or a lot to do.

Resort was very quiet but there again it was November.

Not really much to do a night and went very chilly at night. The beach was very nice but not warm enough for sunbathing.

In the hotel supermarket staff were very rude ignoring customers and carrying on talking while you queued up to be served.
