Snack bar now closed-no longer serving burgers etc, now serve snacks in the dining area-self serve, crackers, pate, sandwhiches, toasties etc. We found this better as you could have something healthy rather than fried.
Hotel was spotless as usual. The staff are dedicated to ensure the place is maintained day and night.
Lovely welcome from all staff-always remeber you. You can buy a newpaper from reception daily if you want. Food is very good but can be repetative and by the end of the two weeks we had a couple of meals out 9 a lovely bar across the road (Baileys).
Was great to see a lot of faces from previous years-certainly tells me that they are doing something right.
We go to chill out and lay by the pool most of the day. Others walk to the beach which is opposite-amazing and a lovely breeze. Weather was fantastic (late 30's most days). Bingo was excellent over 400 euros every night (we won 425 euro's our first week!).
Will certainly be back the same time next year-hoping to meet lots of friends for another good holiday.

We had a brilliant time and are definitely going back.
This is an adults only hotel and if you want a holiday where other peoples kids make a noise all day, dive bomb the pool and generally cause a nuisance, then the Platja D'or is not for you. The guests when were were there seemed to be mostly 30-60 so young all night party goers might find its not their cup of tea.
The rooms are fine, clean well furnished and the towels are changed daily. They are carpetted (maybe they weren't before) and have a hairdryer, safe, TV (BBC1, ITV, Sky and CNN News)a fridge, air conditioning and comfortable beds. There is a bit of noise from the road but when the doors are closed you can't hear anything and its not that bad in the daytime.
All the staff are great and yes they take your plates quickly in the restaurant but thats good in my opinion-who wants used crockery left on the table?
The pool now has new comfortable furniture and sunbeds (going off other reports this was needed)and there were plenty of them. The hotel was full while we were there but we always got a sunbed. Having said that the beach and sea are 50 metres away and other guests leave their old beach mats so you don't even have to buy one. There is also a used books/magazines box if you finish what you are reading and even a box where sun lotion, shampoo etc is left by people who have left, just in case you run out.
The entertainment is pretty good. The entertainment staff Tracy and David do a great job. In the day they organise games eg Table Tennis, French Boules, Giant Darts etc but they don't pressurise you to join in. I would recommend that you participate because we found it a great way to meet other guests and everything is pretty easy.
In the evening entertainment is held in the air conditioned concert hall which I believe was built because locals complained about the noise in the past. Some of the acts were great Funk 5 (Soul Tribute band), a singer Comedian (whoes name escapes me) but we didn't enjoy the magic/acrobat act but everyone to their own. They even had a Mama Mia Show act if you like that sort of thing.
True the bar shuts at 11.45pm but its only a 4 euro taxi ride to the main Belle Vue street if you want to continue partying. The bar staff serve quickly and they limit you to 2 drinks but I can honestly say that even at 11.30pm I queued for no longer than 2 minutes and that's the busiest time. Drinks are beer and local spirits but they seemed OK and the soft drinks are Pepsi and Kas, 7 UP and are great. You save a fortune on poolside drinks. There are water dispensers in the pool, bar and restaurant areas and you can even have a piece of cake if you want it between 4pm and 5pm. The pool snack bar serves burgers, hotdogs chips, toasties when the dining room is closed.
The Restaurant has a wide range of food which is buffet style although they do cater for the British guests with a "Spanish" twist eg Turkey, Pork, Chicken, Beef, Fish etc. We found there was always something you will like and it was always hot. Empty containers were quickly replaced with full ones. The show cooking where the chef cooks in front of restaurant guests has something on the go all the time. Drinks in the restaurant are waiter service in the evening and they serve bottles of San Miguel, Pepsi, 7 Up, Wine or just water, which means you don't have the additional costs that other hotels charge.
All in all we thought the Platja D'or was a great holiday hotel and because it was only adults that was a real bonus.

The food is typical Restaurant style Hotel food that does become a little repetative, but you certainly wouldn't go hungry here, always plenty of choice with at least one fish dish and Show cooking as well.
I can't really comment on the daytime activities around the pool as we went across the road the short distance to the wonderful beach, the sea is so warm and you can go out for a long distance and it only comes up to your waist, so it is very safe. Previous guests had left their air-beds for others to use so most days we spent long periods just floating about enjoying the sun.
The evening entertainment varied, Bingo at 2030 was worth winning at 300 euros, and this was followed by the various acts. We stayed in for a comedian/singer who has starred on T.V etc, he was excellent. There was a band that were watchable, and a good illusionist.
Of course it is everybodies choice as to what they like, we passed on a couple of nights and walked up to the local bars where there is plenty of singing acts on. Also it is a nice walk along the prom up to Port Alcudia, it takes about 40 mins but you can get the ferry back or 5euros for a taxi.
All in all, this is as good as you are going to get an all inclusive holiday at the price you pay. There are no children running around, all the guests were British and sat chatting amongst themselves after the entertainment had finished each night. We were more than satisfied with our stay there and will definately be back again in the future

The hotel is showing its age, its needs new carpet thru out, there are some very horrible stains both in the rooms and out in the coridoor.
The maids do a good job, they are kept busy sweeping glass up from round the pool area, I don't know why the hotel does
not use plastic cups.
The food was o.k. Bit repetitive, pork , chicken, pork , chicken.....Fish, We ate out one night as it appeared to be all chinese.
The hotel asks the men to wear long trousers for the evening meal and then allowed a young lady to enter the dining room wearing what she had been wearing all afternoon, a very skimpy pair of shorts and a bandeau. To be honest it was a bit embarassing. Dress code should apply to everyone, " smart but casual " ?
The hotel is all inclusive, there wasn't any rowdy behaviour or drunkeness, probably cos they serve cheap spirits, its impossible to get drunk, I had 4 vodka and orange drinks and a baileys and to be honest I was stone cold sober.
The entertainment at night was good on the nights when it was outside acts.We saw the Beegees, Tempations, Jackson 5 tribute bands and they were worth stopping in for.
