This is the third time we have visited this hotel but this is the first year it has been all inclusive. The standard of the hotel has not changed at all. If anything it only makes it better value.

The hotel caters for all ages. The added bonus is that no children under the age of 16 are allowed. The hotel cleanliness was excellent. The rooms are cleaned on a daily basis with clean towels provided daily as well. The staff - reception, waiters, bar and cleaners are all very friendly with nothing being to much trouble and English is spoken by all.

The quality of the food is exceptional with plenty of choice to cater for all tastes. Although the location is about a 40 minute walk from the centre of Alcudia this is not a problem as there is a regular bus service which costs about 1 Euro and a taxi is very reasonably priced as well. The beach is directly behind the hotel being accessed through a wooded area. This is wonderful as you are able to have the best of both worlds by being on the beach under the shade of the trees.

The only change we could notice by the hotel going all inclusive was the standard of the daily and evening entertainment. There did seem to be less going on during the day compared to that on our previous visits. However, this did not spoil the holiday, but only made it more relaxing. The evening entertainment was started by a quiz followed by a live act in the air conditioned caberet lounge.

On the whole a throughly enjoyable holiday. We will definitely be making a return visit.

Have just returned from an excellent 11 day break. The hotel was cheaper than most of the HB hotels in that area and far exceeded expectations. Every guest there is english as Thomsons own the hotel. Although its All -Inclusive, nobody abused it and there was permanent chatter and laughter everywhere you went and plenty of merry guests around but no drunks anywhere. It is spotlessly clean and all the staff are really friendly and always smileing. The food is immacuatly presented with choices to suit all tastes. There is no need to get up early to reserve sun beds as you can go down at lunchtime and still find ones free. The beach is gorgeous and only 50m from the hotel. It is so clean and clear and inviting. The entertainment isnt brilliant but nobody seems to mind and the evenings pass by so quickly with the friendly banter going on that before you know it, the bar is shutting at stroke of midnight. If you dont travel out with friends - it wont take you long to make some.

There are a load of shops and a few bars within 5 mins walk. It is all flat in the area so anyone with walking difficulties wont have a problem. Alcudia center is 20 mins walk away but go that bit further and walk to the port - its so much nicer. Calan Picford is 15 mins on bus and well worth wandering around in the evenings with plenty of shops, street artist and bars with entertainment. And take a 30min bus ride to Puerto Pollensia for a change of scenery, its very laid back and tranquil.Bus stops are outside the hotel and cost next to nothing.

Only one word of advise when booking - request a sea facing room not a pool facing one. Just behind the trees at the back of the pool is a busy main road and even with patio door shut and air com on ,if your a light sleeper you'll hear the cars right through til 4am! The sea facing rooms are a lot quieter with beautiful views and morning sun.

Give this hotel a try - you wont regret it! happy holidays!!

First year that this hotel has been all inclusive only. Everything about this hotel was perfect and nothing was to much trouble for the staff who spoke very good English.

We were lucky to have a room overlooking the pool area which we noted was cleaned every morning on the dot of 8 oclock.

Food was superb with lots of choice, being all inclusive all snacks and drinks were included, also on the plus side no person under 18 was allowed, but the age range was from 18 to 90 and all ages were well cathered for.

Evening entertaintment was a bit of a let down as only every other evening was outside entertainment bought in which was very good but the other nights it was mainly bingo, daytime activities were there if you wanted to join in.

My wife & I have just got back, first time on a Thompson gold, excellent holiday, no kids! Which was a bonus.
Can not fault much about this hotel, we would definitely go back again, the only criticism we have is the TV in the bar area, it was apparent that if one person asked for the football on sky they changed the channel regardless of anyone else ( I know you can stay at home and watch TV!) However, when they changed the channel in the bar all the TV's in the rooms all changed to the same channel!

There are a lot of older people staying there and they like to sit in their room and relaxing and don

the hotel was superb, cannot fault the staff in any way whatsoever. will definitely go again, as I understand this hotel is going all inclusive in the near future, I hope its standards dont fall, because that will be a travesty, the pool area was immaculate just like the rest of it , It warrants more than the 3 stars it carries.

We arrived at this hotel at 3.30am and were greeted by a very friendly member of staff and on arrival on our room there were sandwiches and a bottle of water , most welcome at that time of the morning!

The hotel is very clean and well equipped and the food was excellent. the staff were very friendly and always had time to talk , the bar service was very good and having bar staff take your orders at your tables for drinks was very good.

Entertainment was very good and all the entertainment team worked very hard , temperatures were in the 30's when we were there so it could become very hot in the purpose built clubroom but we tended to sit just outside so could still hear the entertainment but were not roasting alive.

Only complaint is that the drinks in the bar were quite expensive compared to surrounding bars but I suppose this is the price to pay for waiter service.

The location is great for the beach which is just across a short road outside the hotel and being by the main road did not bother us ( we live near a dual carriageway at home! ) pool area was excellent and we had no trouble getting a sunbed and were usually able to move around as the day went on.

The only quibble I have about the location is that it would be no good for anyone who doesn't like to walk anywhere as it is a good half an hours walk to Alcudia town though it is lovely walking along the beach. Plenty of buses but the taxis to the market work out cheap anyway especially if you can share a cab.

And the big plus for us is no under 16's , the average age when we were there was late 30's / early 40's so previous reports we had read about it being full of over 60's were not true when we were there , in fact there were at least 2 honeymooning couples for the 2 weeks we stayed.

We would visit the hotel again and hope that it does'nt lose anything by going fully inclusive.

Visited this hotel with my sister, we are both in our late 20's. As a 3T hotel found that it met up to the standard well. Yes the hotel is located next to a main road, but so are many, we'd spend our mornings by the pool and the road really didn't bother us. Sunbeds are limited directly around the pool but there are plenty in the adjacent garden area. Rooms are very small, but it is a 3T hotel so you can't really complain, they were clean and after all how long are you really in your room for? We had a sea view room which I'd highly recommend the sun faces the hotel from the road and I understand non-sea view rooms really heated up durning the day. Our room wasn't in the direct sun light so stayed cooler, we also had a decent sized balcony. The beach is located the otherside of a service road (no real traffic) and through a lightly wooded area, no real hassle to access the beach. Which we found to be excellent, clear water and lovely sand, we hired sun loungers and shade for the week and used the beach in the afternoons, the pool area got very hot in the afternoon as it's fairly enclosed and dosn't get much breeze. There is a walkway that runs the length of the beach into the town centre and port area of Alcudia it's about a 45 to 60 minute walk (depending on fitness)and a perfect length to jog on a daily basis. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel and buses go into Alucdia there are some very nice restaurants around the port, make the effort to go right into the harbour where all the boats are moored the restaurants are much nicer and not so touristy, they seemed to be used by the locals, food, drinks and prices were very good! Plus not to mention a lovely setting to view either the harbour or the entire stretch of Alucdia beach.
There is a supermarket located directly opposite the hotel which was extremely useful for water, cold drinks, etc (pack a small corkskew we sat on our balcony and drank the odd bottle of wine before going down to diner, making use of the cheap wine and excellent view). Food at the hotel was excellent, they usual suspects appeared on the breakfast buffet, cooked english, pastries, fruit, etc. Evening meals were very good always a choice of fish, meat and vegitarian option. Lots of very nice salads and starters at least 5 choices for main meal, extra when the chef personally cooked meats on display (twice a week) plenty of vegetables and if you could fit it in a good choice of deserts and fruit.
Evening entertainment was held in a purpose built suite, with dance floor, lots of very comfortable chairs and tables and fully airconditioned. There is an adjacent outside seating area where you're able to see and hear the entertainer. Variety of performers was very good, reps show was a bit tedious, but aren't they always I think you either love'em or hate'em! Age range of guests was very good we weren't the youngest, mainly guests in their 40's and 50's but everyone we met was fully of fun and very lively.
All the hotel staff we encountered were very accommodating, and the reps couldn't have been more helpful.
We met many people who were repeat visitors to this particular hotel and lots of those had also visited other Thompson Gold's but thought this had the best of everything. We'll definitely be visiting again.

Found the food to be excellent - the best of any Gold Hotel we've stayed in and the location by the beach was good - also the beach area itself appeared to be a very clean area with no seaweed - unlike other sections.

The brochure is misleading about how far the hotel was from Alcudia centre (with the harbour) - it claimed 1 1/2km - nearer 2 1/2 miles. Bedrooms were too small and reps were mainly poor. One of the entertainment reps (Sam) was very good, but the local interest rep........ no local interest activities at all apart from a bit of Spanish lessons(of sort).

Alcudia is a bit tacky with all the shops being catered for just the tourist - C'an Picafort was much better on this respect.

Cycling is very good with everywhere very flat and a lot of cycle tracks. Beware cycling around the Nature Reserve - it is good but the tracks can get a little(!) bumpy and it's longer than you think. Also not very well signposted but follow the map carefully and you'll be OK.

Have just returned with my wife from the Platja D'or (June 2002).
Saved money - compared to the brochure price by booking the holiday through Thomson's website.
The hotel itself is not in the centre of Alcudia, but is literally a stone's throw from the nearby beach. There are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants nearby.
Our room was on the pool side of the hotel, and as others have commented, it does overlook a busy road. Yes, we could hear traffic as it ran past the hotel, but this didn't cause us any problems when we were in our room (day or night), or were laying by the pool. If you want to let it bother you, then it could!
There is a supermarket over the road, as well as a petrol station next to the hotel.
There were adults (no children at all) of all ages staying, from couples in their 20's to couples in their 80's, and everyone was more than friendly.
The restaurant was clean, restaurant staff excellent and the food for a 3 star hotel was very good. If you went for your evening meal at opening time - 6:30pm, then there was a queue. We would go for our meal at 7:30pm ish, and never had to queue.
The room we had wasn't the biggest in the world, and was quite basic, but again, for a 3 star hotel was fine. It had air conditioning, a fridge/mini bar, and satellite TV as standard.
Hotel evening entertainment was okay. The highlight of the entertainment was 'The Beathoven Brothers' - Beatles hits one after the other - excellent.
We wanted a quiet relaxing holiday, and that's exactly what we got.
