The hotels over look the swimming pool and beach, they have also built another pool at the sister hotel opposite (Corfu).
The beach is not private and the sunloungers cost 3.5 Euros for the day, the hirers only appear for a short time in the morning, they also clean up the beach at night.
The pool sunloungers are free but you have to get up early to catch the few adjustables!
The hotels best feature is the bay, its excellent for snorkeling but keep an eye out for the jellyfish, some days there were lots, other days not one.
The entertainment staff come round often in the morning to catch volunteers for the games, french buoilles. Water basketball.killer darts/pool, shuffleboard.
Cala Egos is clean and mainly bars, restuarants and souviener shops, it costs 5 euros to get to Cala'Dor by taxi.

Cala D'or is a pleasant place overall. It is perhaps lacking a bit of character if that's what you look for in a resort. It also doesn't have an obvious central focal point and sprawls around and off about 5 separate coves. Nonetheless, the various beaches, although not huge, do give you some options if you want a change from your hotel pool for the day. Check out the ice ceam parlour opposite the Sa Marina, by the way. Big variety of flavours on offer and all delicious !

Although I went out of season to Cala D'Or (end of March) a lot of things were still open-bars, restaurants etc.
The beaches were fabulous and we were very lucky with the weather during our stay, so I was able to take full advantage of them! The sea, although cold, was very safe and perfect for swimming in. I was also struck by how clear the water was.
The only complaint about the resort is that it is right at the East side of the island so any trips such as Palma and Inca involved a long bus ride. However we just wanted to chill so that was fine.
I would choose this resort again!

The resort itself was very busy, lots of places to eat but do choose carefully as we found many poor overpriced restaurants. Some of the better eating places were various shacks on the beach itself.
To take a taxi anywhere needs a lot af negotiating as prices can vary so do shop around and if you get a good deal try and stick to the same driver as they can be very accommodating.
The beach is very clean and plenty of loungers and sun shades. Each shack has its own area of beach and you will find plenty of help in finding the right spot! Cows and dogs do roam freely around and if you have food in your bags do be careful. Police do patrol the beach to keep hawkers at bay so your sunbathing goes mainly uninterupted.
There are also bargains to be had at the local markets and shops but do keep your wits about you and only buy if you feel happy with the price.
We would not visit this resort again ourselves due to our bad experience with our hotel. We did leave Candolim for 2 weeks and travelled around Rajastan which was fantasic.

Have not been back to Cala D'or for two years but it was just as good as last time. Although we went late in the year the weather was great, really hot. Resort is excellent, within walking distance of everything, the Marina is a must, just to see all the posh boats. There are plenty of resturants anywhere in the town and if anyone wants the best strawberry gateaux then go to Jimmys Bar. All in all we were all very impressed and my daughter who was on her first visit is already looking to go back next year.

The beaches were gorgeous - all of the lovely coves were beautiful.

Our favourite bars were Dugans, where a live band played every night, playing U2, Oasis, Keane etc. We also loved La Playa, above Cala Gran. The bar staff/waiters were such a laugh, especially when making cocktails!
Red Lion was a nice 'English' bar playing all sorts of music, including Spanish.
We loved Cala D'Or and the coves and bars etc.
We visited the coves of Cala Gran, Cala D'Or and Cala Esmeralda - all lovely beaches. We swam in the sea and it is good for snorkelling.
When we went in October (9-16th) a few bars were shutting down for the season. We had a fabulous time though!
Can't wait to visit it again.

The resort was very clean we didn't see a lot of entertainment but from advertisements there was quite a lot to see.
Beaches are good and clean but small.
Yes we will be visiting again, been twice this year

Having arranged car hire via Club Marthas we tended to travel around the island during the day and limited our activities in resort to shopping for food, shopping for small gifts and the odd evening meal.
Shopping in the large supermarket was best, although a couple of Spar Supermercados were nearer. Unfortunately, their staff have yet to go on a customer care course, and stand out against the excellent reception from other people working elsewhere in the resort.
The local beach was small but adequate for the number of visitors there in October. However, it probably can get very crowded at the height of the season.
Lastly restaurants. My advice is simply to remember you have to pay that little bit more for better quality food. You do not have to go for the most expensive but those places with low prices and empty seats say it all!

Some areas were untidy which let the area down slightly, but in general the town was pleasant enough with lots of restaurants to choose from.
The resort of Cala D'or entertainment was limited to your local bars that provided for your typical English culture; Karaoke, bingo, sky TV football (remember folks we are in another country where we try their customs and culinary delights) There was one entertainment location the Tropical Gardens which provide some good evening entertainment well worth a visit.
Beach standards were good, slightly disappointed with the 10 Euros a day for bed and parasol.(Suggestion, buy a rubber sun bed with a parasol for 12 Euros and save over 60 Euros for the weeks stay)There were lots of cigarette buts left lying about on beach, although there were plenty of bins and ashtrays made available. Does make you wonder!
I would revisit this resort but next time, armed with my Padi diving certificate.
