Cala D'Or has something for everyone. The Marina is well worth a visit and the beach is gorgeous!

Wide variety of shops and bars. You definately wouldn't be stuck for somewhere to eat out, the choice was endless. Two Spar corner shops with everthing you might need. English papers available every day.
Cala Gran Beach was excellent but you must get there early to secure a sunbed and shade. Save money by buying cheap parasol for only 5 Euros. Starfish boat trip a must, sets off at 10.30 am - expensive but cheaper than club reps!
Watch out for dodgy watch sellers and hair braiders - it's cheaper to go to the market!

Cala Egos is a small, mostly clean and tidy friendly resort a mile or two south of Cala D'or.
We visited in June the week after half term and benefited from a cheaper holiday and a quieter resort. The two beaches were good but very small and crowded, we found the beach at Cala Mondrago excellent ( about 15 mins drive) by the way car hire in our opinion was essential unless you are the sit around pool all day or do the reps very expensive excursions.
There are a number of very good resturants, just 100yds from the club is the corner resturant, the first one you pass, faultless for good clean food, and an excellent full english for about £3.20. One to miss without a doubt is the TABERNA BLANCA, this appears to be run by spains version of Basil & Sybil with two or three Manuels, do not be fooled by her charms, the food was very expensive with lots of hidden extras and it was mostly inedible, keep well away. There are two supermarkets(spar).
A good walk away 15/20mins is the exclusive marina at Cala D'or with very good resturants and tapas bars and very reasonable prices. A resturant to visit is ZOCALO on the far side of the marina.
Places to visit, there are many charming places but you must have a car, the caves of DRAC at Porto Cristo are worth a visit but not for the very young of elderly, 8 euros each, get ther early, about 25 mins by car, Porto Cristo is worth a look if you can get parked but it is a very expensive place to eat. Cala Mondrago beach very good, clean and safe with a fab beach resturant. (should you visit drive all the way down to the beach car park through the access only signs).
I will visit the resort again.

I have stayed in the resort 6 times over the past 15 years and can't fault it. Plenty to see and do for all ages and the restaurants are fantastic. Beaches are lovely and there is always one within walking distance. Short taxi rides away are Porto Petro and Cala Egos, again with plenty of shops and restaurants.
For a friendly night out with entertainment try the Tartan Arms Bar (opposite Plaza Ibiza) youre made to feel very welcome and we're not even Scottish !

Cala Egos is located on the East Coast of Mallorca, around a five minute drive from the town of Cala Dor. The town is clean and cockroach free. There are plenty of places to eat, nightlife is fair, and the hospitality of the Mallorcan people is fantastic. There is a small, clean beach in Cala Egos - it has a takeaway on the beach, along with free public toilets, showers, and a bloke that hires out sunloungers and parasols for 2 Euros each. The beautiful Cala Dor Marina is a ten minute walk from Cala Egos and provides some fantastic, cheap restaurants, and pubs. For around £20 a day, you can hire a small car with air con (you have to be over 21 or driving for 3 full years). We took this up and went exploring on the East coast, we found a great bay called Cala Mondrago - about 20 mins from Cala Egos - situated in a National Park with 2 large beaches, with crystal clear water and the best snorkelling i've ever done...great place. Excursions are expensive - travel to the attractions yourself, cars buses and taxis are all dirt cheap and regular. I would highly recommend a glass bottom boat ride.

Cala egos gets tagged onto cala dor when it is a 20 minute walk away round the marina which is a must do for a bit of rubbernecking and wishful thinking.Cala egos has a reasonable amount of choice in shops, bars and restuarants with a good few open to the wee small hours.Probably not a resort for disco loving late teens/twenties.
There are 3 coves all within walking distance which have reasonable beaches and i would stay or visit cala egos again

Marina skorpios hotel is actually in cala egos about 1/2hr walk or 5 min taxi(5 euro)ride. Cale egos is quite small not really much going on, but suited us because we had our 2 year old son with us. Once you had wandered up the main street not really anywhere else to go if you wanted a nice walk.
The beach is right outside the hotel and you could be mistaken in thinking that it was a private beach it's that small, but that suited us beacuse our 2 y/o could wander round and was always in our sight.

Cala D'Or( Es Forti) is our sort of resort no longer being beach people. Supermakets and other shops and plenty of transport to travel to Cala D'or, Porto Punta and Mandrago.
Only a short walk to the Marina to see how the 'other half' holiday
