Beaches

The resort is very quaint, not a single building over 5 storeys in sight and all in keeping with the artisan cottage theme. The resory is split into the main Cala D'or area, with Cala Egos/Es Forti about 20 minutes walk away, split by 5the rather exclusinve marina.
There is loads to do in Cala D'or itself in terms of Bars etc whilst Cala Egos/Es Forti is a lot quieter. However the resort as a whole is aimed at falilies rather than singles.
The beaches are pretty clean on the whole.

Cala d'or is beautiful and although we have visited many times we still go back. Some changes like Burger King, but in discreet position. Up market resort with fantastic restaurants, bars and shopping. Very family or couple orientated.

Small resort of Cala Egos, near Cala D'Or.
There is some development going on but this is mainly commercial, shops, restaurants, pubs etc.
A good range of restaurants and shops in the main street.

Cala d'Or is such a nice place! I loved it there - all the bars with karaoke, dancing & with all of that :- friendly staff! I recommend you go to a place called Carabell (Dogs Bollox) & say hi to the owner of it & listen to him sing - it will cheer anyone up! Well I think it is the best holiday I've ever been on & i'm only 15!! Hope you take everyone's advice and go there!!!! Have a wicked tiem if you do! Lizzi -x-

The resort was ok, quite big with loads of restaurants and shops but we found them all very alike with little variety. Although we love restaurants, we found most of them a bit pricey for what you got although a special recommendation for Rancho El Patio by Cala Ferrera - they were pricey but delicious and had a kids play area. We went into the centre of town once for a meal but weren't impressed - too expensive and rubbish food and you got hassled repeatedly by street traders. We ended up in one cafe every night because it was cheap and very cheap booze! We thought that the apartments were in a bit of a quiet end of town and it was a bit of a walk from all the good restaurants - although the marina was lovely, it was too far to walk with the kids, particularly if you had to be back for the mini disco!!!! If you are into karaoke its ideal as thats the main sound from the town at night! There' s a little supermarket about a 5 minute walk away which is fine for essentials but it you want a long trek for cheaper stuff, the Caprabo was meant to be good - we didn't bother as it was a long trek but you could get the mini train - which is good for getting a view around the resort. There were 2 close by beaches but both were a bit small and crowded and difficult to negotiate with the buggy so we didn't bother. There are 2 mini golf courses and they are worth a try and a couple of kids amusement parks, but we didn't bother with those either. There's the usual pubs with sport and films on the telly if you're into that sort of thing and I recommend Walshies all day bumper breakfast! All in all, the resort was ok, but I wouldn't rush back - not because its horrible, but because I've seen it all now in 2 weeks. You'll have a lovely time - its clean and pleasant but quite crowded in high season. I'd recommend it to my friends.

Sorry - forgot to add the resort report.
We have just returned from two fantastic weeks in Cala d'or. We stayed at the Sol Cala d'or just across the road from Hollywood Bar.
The resort had everything for the perfect family holiday. Cala Gran beach was less than two mins walk from the apartments. The beach isn't very wide but is quite deep. We tended to stay at the back where there was some shade and also a grassed area. The water is the clearest I have seen in the Med. We would swim right out into the bay and then cross over to the rocks where there are ladders leading out of the water. We'd then spend the next hour jumping into the water (the wife even joined in !!!). Snorkels and mask are a must as there are lots of fish - remember to take some bread. It's a bit like feeding the ducks in the park.
Of an evening you are spoilt for choice as far as eating out. There is somehere for everyones taste and pocket. Unfortunately Burger King has appeared, but we stayed well clear.
If you are looking for a good restaurant around the marina, we would recommend Zocola's. This is on your right as you start to walk around the marina. The food, wine (& price) were excellent. It did tend to get busy in August, however they will reserve tables - try to get one on the marina side so you can watch the world sail by.
Other good restaurants in the pedestrian area are - La Cuadra (Taco's grill), Don Leone's, Jimmy's (for snacks) & the one across from Jimmy's (forgotten it's name but begins with L). There is an amusement arcade near to Jimmy's that the boys enjoyed while we finished our meal. Sounds a bit tacky but it was better than it sounds.
Hollywood's and Supertramps are good for a drink (and game of pool) - some excellent entertainment at Hollywood's and all the soccer matches are shown at Supertramps.
Lots of touts for Yates' and Lineker, however they are all good humoured and enjoy a bit of banter. There are also plenty of watch/CD/sunglasses sellers, but again all that was needed was a polite 'no' and they didn't bother you.
We visited the Caves of Drac (not bad), Porto Cristo (uncowded beach - a very Spanish resort) & Aqualand (the waterpark at Arenal). We would recommend the waterpark, but by your tickets in Cala d'or. We got a free childs ticket when we hired the car. Try to use a hire car - much cheaper than the organised trips.
Have a great hol - we've already booked for next August !!
