Location
The rooms were larger than average. Although we were half board the fridge was working and there was also a microwave in the room which we could use. A kettle and toaster were also supplied. We found this very handy to make a lunchtime snack.
The pool area was very well maintained and spotlessly clean. The pool however did get very busy, it did not seem big enough for the size of the hotel. Thomsons left the waterpolo nets at the side of the pool which encouraged some of the guests to throw balls about, which was quite dangerous. There were also a lot of lilos in the pool, quite dangerous for young children. Management and Thomsons reps did not seem to be bothered about this, but be aware it is quite off putting.
The food in the hotel was brill, a wide choice of main courses and deserts, there was also a grill area where show cooking was done both in the evening and in the morning. The morning was a bit of a pain as the bacon was cooked at the area and normally ran out, a lot of time was wasted waiting for the next batch to be cooked.
The hotel is very well situated for both shops and the beach. A five minute walk to the beach, which we only visited once.
The children were quite happy at the hotel, there were activities on for both children and adults throughout the day at the pool area, I missed the fact there was not water aerobics in the morning, only splashdown at 11.30 involving as many guests as possible sitting at the edge of the pool splashing their legs in the water and then jumping in. After that activities were hourly throughout the day until 4pm.
The evening entertainment starts at 8.30 for children, the main show starting at 10pm, there were 3 rep shows over the 2 weeks which were not as good as you would expect. The reps working very hard, but rubbish shows overall. Outside acts were a bit disappointing as well.
We went on two trips, one on a catamaran and the other to the well publicised Pirate Show, which was great. Both trips were very expensive, costing three hundred pounds together.
The drinks and bar snacks at the hotel are quite expensive. There is an ice cream portocabin at the pool area next to the bar which served lollies and slush puppies, but this closed at night, only drinks
were available at the bar in the evening. A missed opportunity for the hotel to cash in on the kids sweets and slushes at night, as there were none available.
The hotel is perfectly position for both shops and the beach. Overall a great holiday, would definitely go back to this hotel, mainly because of the size of the rooms.

The Thomson entertainment team work really hard to keep every one entertained, (Ruthy Jugs, Kit Kat Kaz, and Magic Martin) and of corse not forgetting my girls favorite Thomson the Dog.(yes, we did have a good time)
The Kidszone Staff were also excellant, our daughter didnt go to the clubs as she was happy to play around the pool, but she did go to the drop in club a few times, she didnt always stay the full 2 hours but the staff brought her back to us (at the pool) as soon as she'd had enough.
We also booked to go half board at the hotel for 3 night after hearing good reports from other guests, the food was excellant, a great selection, of meat, fish, veggies salads ect, and the meals we ate here were by far the best that we had our whole holiday, and we now wished that we had booked half board when we first booked our holiday.
And finally, my only complaint, the doors on the hotel rooms can not be locked from the inside, on the first morning of our holiday my husband and i woke to find the door to our appartment, wide open and our 3 year old daughter missing, she had opened the door and gone for a little wonder along the corridors, we very quickly found her, but for a couple of minutes it was a nightmare, we did complain to thomsons about this, but apparently the hotel will not change the locks beacause it could prevent them from gaining access to the rooms,so i would strongly recommend that you place something infront of the door before going to bed, we used to put the buggy infront of the door,
However we will definatly return to this hotel in the future as other than the above we had a fantastic time !!

Hotel: Extremely clean, well looked after and air-conditioned through-out. The lifts however were a little temperamental to say the least! You would often have to wait ages for one and then it seemed to stop at every floor unnecessarily - not the end of the world - just a bit annoying. Also, for those families that have a double-buggy, be warned that it will not fit in the lifts and will have to be folded. There is a self-service laundrette - we used this and found that although the washing machine said the cycle would take 32 mins, it was nearer to an hour - no problem, but knowing this saves you popping down every 5 mins to see if your wash has finished.
Pool Area: Nice main and baby pool - might sound obvious, but, the areas directly by the pool became very slippery when wet - we saw a lot of kids fall and two hurt themselves quite badly - all we could do was to remind our children not to run (difficult for excited kids to do!). Now to the sunbeds... after reading other reviews we were a little worried about the availability of beds, however, we were never without beds because (sorry to say this) but we joined the crowds every morning at the crack of dawn to put our towels down. Now, honestly, we do not agree with doing this, but, on our first morning we observed a rush of people at around 8 am putting out towels - I absolutely did not want to do this, but, after talking to a lot of other guests we found that, bizarrely, although EVERYONE disagreed with this practice, they all did it. So we joined in too. It didn't really matter to us, we were always up early anyway. During our holiday we had a look around another Thomson superfamily hotel, the Bonarie, we spoke to a guest there and she said the same thing was happening there too so don't let this put you off the Coma Gran it seems us Brits are doing this everywhere.
Restaurant: No complaints at all - you are allocated a table which you use for the duration of your stay and this is rather nice. Food is superb; plenty of variety and of a high quality. You order drinks at the table and pay after your meal - the drinks available are beer, wine by the bottle and soft drinks. If you buy a bottle of wine and do not finish it, the waitress will label it with your table number and you can request it again the next evening.
Rooms: Modern, cleaned every day apart from a Wednesday, plenty of storage space and they do have a TV (don't think the brochure mentioned this - it has sky news, cbeebies, cbbc and a couple of other English speaking channels. The bedroom and main living areas are air-conditioned, however, although the bedroom conditioning is great, the conditioning unit in the main living area could do with being a bit more powerful - it's ok though, so again, don't let this put you off. The air-con only works with the balcony doors closed (or window for bedroom) - ours didn't work initially so I reported it to reception and it was sorted out immediately. Would also recommend you take ear plugs - our room faced the pool and as the entertainmemt went on until midnight, I found I definately needed them. We did have a problem a couple of times with having no hot water for a while, but, this was only temporary due to burst pipes - do think the reps could have kept us better informed as to when the water was due to be back on though.
Reps/entertainment: Found all the staff very enthusiastic and helpful. Enterainment was full on - from 11 am to midnight - they encouraged you to join in but you really didn't have to - they worked extremely hard and Kit Kat Kaz is a very talented girl with a great singing voice. Best bit for us though were the kids clubs - our 3 year old went everyday to Tots and had a great time - there is also a drop-in zone which has a couple of 2 hour sessions per day where you can leave the kids and there are evening kids clubs available for a small fee.
That's about it I think - would definately recommend this hotel for families, obviously we wouldn't choose this if it was just the two of us, but, if our kids are happy then we are too! We would go back again.

The hotel itself was quite clean but the rooms were not cleaned adequatley. I bought a bottle of bleach and cleaned bathroom and sink myself! The rooms were quite big but in need of updating, they looked very 'tired'
The food however was great, a lovely selection every night.
The entertainment was also quite good, my little boy thouroughly enjoyed the mini disco and seeing thomson the dog, and the kids reps were great.
I would certainly not return to the Coma Gran.

the hotel was clean towels changed 6/7 days maid service excellent rooms kept really clean.
Hotel is situated 5 mins from the beach and is central for all shops, bars and restaurants.
Hotel staff were helpful and reception desk manned 24 hours.
What really made our holiday were the entertainment reps Chloe and Leo -they were fantastic always on the go getting us involved with everything they did really dedicated to what they did even though it was the end of the season and the entertainment in the last week finished 3 days before we went home they put on their own shows, quizzes Chloe sang for us an amazing voice this girl will go far.
As far as living up to our expectations this hotel did so but the entertainment team saw to this.

I was looking forward to good food and accommodation as this holiday has a gold medal in the brochure.
I was not impressed with the food. The chinese in the resort was nicer. The hotel food was stodgy and not something any of us looked forward to with excitement. My son who normally eats anything hardly ate anything.
The lifts, which there are five of, were not all working. At one stage only one was working and there were two working the rest of the time.
The childrens entertainment got repetitive after a couple of nights, although there was one hours entertainment for the adults although young children were still running about during this. The rooms were basic but clean.
I am wondering if it was because the season was nearly over that more effort was not put into cooking and fixing lifts.

The hotel staff are friendly and helpful, and the Thomson Staff always on the go organising fun and games without being too pushy, although tended to be aimed at young children right up till ten pm. and this got a bit tedious.
Only real downside was the usual lack of sunbeds and selfish people reserving beds with towels then coming down in the afternoon.
Thompson and the hotel did say they would deal with it but nothing was done, and again some items went missing from guest when we were there so would recomend carrying little cash and using the safes.
Food everyday was very good with a varied selection everyday almosy to much to choose from.
