These apartments are rubbish.

Cold and uncooked food.
Break-ins daily (security a joke).
No sunbeds after 8am.
No parasols.
Dangerous electrical fittings.
Staff are great but working in a badly run complex.

This is a basic but nice complex, we experienced no problems. The staff were great and you couldnt fault the maids you are a 15-20min wailk to the harbour but there is a land train 1 euro.

Entertainment good and the kids club would definatly go again read my full report on discussion forum.

A lovely complex about 10 mins walk from the beach. The staff were great.

The First Choice entertainers were excellent and the apartments were basic but comfortable. The maid service was especially good.

The main pool area was superb with a water park for the little ones and slides for the bigger kids. Disappointed with the food, chips with everything and very bland, the Mediterranean and Oriental restaurants were better, still free on AI but you have to book.

Checking in was chaotic, had to queue for ages. If I went again I would jump in a taxi to beat the coach to the hotel so I could check in before the masses arrived.

Had a great time, only let down was the food but if you're not too fussy you will be ok. We're used to SC and eating out at nice restaurants so it was a bit of a shock. Drinks served in plastic cups, if you want a glass you have to ask.

We didn't make use of the kids club or watch the entertainment preferring the quiz and a chat in the Irish bar which is non smoking and less busy, so better for our 1 year old, but those who did seemed to enjoy it.

No sunbed reserving problems as there were masses of them but don't know what it would be like in peak season.

I stayed in an all inclusive bungalow, there were a few cockroaches but that is expected as the canaries are full of the things!

My child, aged 11 used the Wavelenghth club and the reps: Wez, Shaun and Suzy were great with her.

The pools were good and we were situated very near to one. the pool bar staff were overall friendly but one or two could do with smiling every once in a while!!!! ;)

The food was ok but my child wasn't very happy with it and just seemed to eat chips and ice-cream all the time. I personally enjoyed it but the packed lunch service was a bit of a shambles. You had to allsorts of booking and stuff.

The pools were clean and the reps were very helpful when we asked them to help us but they never seemed to be in the reps office! This we werent too pleased about but once we'd found them they helped us straight away.

The entertainment was excellent for the kids on a night time but there were only about 4 shows that us adults actually enjoyed.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my holiday at Club Caleta Dorada and would definitely go there again. For all you people stressing about going there, you have absolutely nothing to stress about you'll have a fabulous time, trust me!

We stayed in the Club Caleta Dorada for a week on an all inclusive basis. Breakfast great, dinner & tea ok but the kids lived on chips, chips and even more chips. Only on one occasion was there a different choice of potato.

Snacks from the bars where ok u could vene have a bacon buttie. (Lovely). I would advise to book into the Italian and Chinese as it makes a lovely difference food there great and you can go more than once within your stay.

Accommodation great only had two cockroaches and then maids brought us some spray but never saw any more once we had it. Plenty of room by pools. We were right by pool A the quieter of all 3 but was great for our 3 and 5 year olds. The older kids went the wavelength clubs and loved Wez, Shaun and Suzy.

Entertainment was good of an evening the entertainment staff worked their socks off. All daytime entertainment was based around main pool which we went to once but was no good for the younger ones as it is one depth all round.


Overall we enjoyed our stay here it was red hot and the kids loved it. I would come back for the right price but would not go and book it again as a main holiday. A week is long enough.

The amirilla which has merged with the dorrado is were we stayed, whilst the pool areas and resturants were clean first thing in the morning by mid morning they had become filthy with no on gonig waiters or cleaners around to deal with the amount of use the areas were getting.

Our two bungalows were on the lower level near the resturant was of good lay out with a lounge/kitchen, bathroom and bedroom but all in very poor repair having cracked sink in the bathroom,mould on kitchen unit,paint flaking off the walls,doors insecure, bath water red rust, rust areas on bath.Also thes being some of the older bungalows and the poor repairs I beleive which lead to the problems we had with cockroaches.

Hotel staff were always very busy and struggled to keep up with amount of guests they had to serve, ie keeping the places clean, long wait for service at the resturants, bars and snack bars in the evenings.

Entertainment was great for the children, but no second choice for later on in the night.

Food was of a cafe style which was running out of everything, very little choice and once again not enough staff to be any good.

First Choice reps were great for the kids but were poor to react to problems.

I would revisit this resort again but would try another hotel.

We had a good time which was down to the weather and being able to be out and about, could of been great if this hotel had done a half of what we paid for.

Hotel Cleanliness - the bungalow that we stayed in was basic but comfortable and quite clean apart from a few insects. but as for the rest of the building I'm surprised its still standing!

The main swimming pool (if you can find it) guttering was almost full of dirt and what can only be described at black slimey sludge! At one point during our stay the guttering surrounding the pool decided to float and swim with the other guests taking the contents with it. Maintenance was informed but looked at the problem and decided that it was time for a tea break - all day and for the rest our duration there. Privacy is not a term that this hotel is familiar with as the pool toilets are almost unisex when the signs clearly state that they are single sex toilets.

Hotel Food - we booked for an all inclusive holiday but we were unaware that the restaurant and surrounding area was un air conditioned and the hotel chefs that were cooking the meals added their own flavours to your food e.g. their own blood sweat and tears. So for the duration of our stay we were either living on bread rolls or walking into the nearest town area approximately 20 minute walk to grab a MacDonald's which also decided that added insects to your drinks gives an added flavour.

Hotel Location - The location was ok with planes flying over your head every 15 minutes but i guess thats to be expect.

Hotel Staff - the members of staff on the reception were friendly spoke very good English and i cant fault them. other members of the staff were hardly ever seen.

Maintenance was constantly on a tea break.

Entertainment - we attending 2 evenings at the hotels and never went back it was basically the same things every night. Most of it in Spanish so that we hardly any tourist could understand what was going on.

I would only recommend this hotel to someone that you hate! your worst enemy!

We stayed in the kids den. It is not a bunk bed its a pull out bed ( just in cases you are going). The tv in the kids room did not work. The play station that was supposed to be in our room was not you had to pay a depoist (200 euro). Tv worked in the living room. Also you had to hire a remote control. I was very disappointed when we first arrived because it was not as good as it looks in brouhre. It reminded me a bit of butlins, they were cleaned every day. However it does grow on you and we ended up liking it very much.

The main pool and baby pool was where we went most days. They started off very cleaning it seems british parents can't clean up after them selves! Around the baby pool was full of plates of chip and burgers and plastic cups which people left behind. We seemed to be the only ones picking ours and other people litter up. We mentioned it to the rep they got a bin in a few days later.

The location is ok it is a nice walk to the beach. Close to the airport we never really noticed the planes, the kids loved them going over.

Please be aware of the break in there was three in one night and the next there was another one and then an other one. Some Reps played them now I did mention I read about the others begining of the month ( which I read on this site) she denied it. A different Rep then said there was six break in two weeks before all very strange!

Rep were very good and friendly and great with the kids. We went to the football pitch most day and our son played with about 20 children. He made loads of friends and said that its the best holiday hes ever been on.

On the AI side it had only been doing it for a few weeks and drinks pumps kept runnning out and the bar only has one person serving and making food. You can help yourself to ice-cream.

We enjoyed it very much, I know a lot of people there was not very happy. Because of the break in everybody got chatting and made sure other quest knew about even though some of the Reps wanted to keep it all quiet.

Hotel Staff worked very hard, they were very short staffed. Entertainment great for young children. This is very much a family hotel

We stayed and paid extra for a Kids Den, it is not as described in the brochure and has a TV that did not work and a playstation that had to be hired from reception. There was no double adaptor given and we had to purchase one to make the playstation work as their was only the one plug socket. This meant that the children could not have the fan on in the room while they played on the playstation at night or when it became to hot in the day.

You would probably then say, "well open the window" we had been advised by the reps against having the windows open due to the number of breakins. We had 9 reported to us in the first week from fellow guests which was bad enough until during the early hours of the morning two gentlemen were peering through the crack in the curtain of the childrens den window at around 11:40 pm. My eldest so that also witnessed this was petrified and refused to sleep in the room spending the rest of the holiday next to his dad on the sofa. Reported to the reps and complained about security. There was no path behind the apartment just an open ditch with wires and cables, these men were not passers by! The open ditch was a feature to most apartments and probably contributed to the cockroaches that we and others had endured, I was surprised these were still alive after the attraction to the electrical equipment in the room as the sockets were hanging out of the walls and came out if you did not hold the socket casing to the wall. Spray will not work when you have these creatures, fumigation is the only way and spray will not prevent a return. But a white powder did appear in the ditches back and front of the apartment (no warning given as to whether this powder was dangerous to the small children that were running all over the resort!)

Breakfast, Lunch and dinner in the International restaurant was another matter! Dirty plates, cutlery and glasses. Food was bland, meat was poor and unchewable. The children would not eat and the fly killer was located just above the hot buffett area ready to kill flys to add extra flavour to the meals. We were unable to eat here after only a few days of the holiday, the air conditioning did not work and in the heat of 90 degress did not make the food look or smell attractive. I thought school dinners were bad enough and this took me back to my younger days and to a butlins holiday weekend I once attended - but at least that was clean! I was told "all inclusive, you will put on weight" I lost 7lbs over this holiday.

There were no umbrellas around the baby pool and only 3 around the main pool, this is a very hot island, and the reps informed us that the umbrellas were on order, they did arrive on our day of departure and 3 days into the holiday we had to buy our own umbrella.


Baby gate was broken and never mended to the entrance of the patio area, maintenance was being carried out while were were on holiday to a degree that should have been completed before my main holiday started.

I have been on 6 holidays with first choice to 3 star ratings and have never had cause to complain until this holiday. I have not listed everthing here.

If you do enjoy your holiday I can only assume that you have not paid around
