We booked a week before going here at a very cheap rate for all inclusive - we had seen the mixed reviews and decided to take a chance.

I have to say that these apartments were absolutely fine. It's obvious that they are being, or just have been, updated and rejuvenated. Our "chalet" was very spacious (they're all the same), and although the bathroom was somewhat the worse for wear, it was very clean. All the soft furnishings, the bed linen, the baby's cot and the fridge appeared to be brand new. There was also a kettle, toaster and sandwich toaster, which is rare in any kind of Spanish accommodation.

When holidaying with children, it's a great advantage to have a separate bedroom and living room, and that's what you get here. You also get a small dining area with a table and bar stools. There was loads of wardrobe space and more than enough hangers. As mentioned, the bathroom was a bit elderly, but there was no shortage of hot water, and everything was very clean.

The food was excellent throughout.
The breakfasts were delicious, I had a full cooked breakfast every day. Some of the bacon was lightly grilled, some medium and some very well done (how I like it), so you could always find some to suit your taste. There was also ample fruit, cereals, danish pastries, cold meats and breads.

We had lunch a couple of times, it was fine and the snacks from the bars between meals were very tasty too. The evening meals were good - the choice wasn't overwhelming like it can be in four or five star places, but the quality was fine.
I had some very nice roast meats (pork and beef steaks) and some very tasty pan fried fish. There was also fresh veg every day, which is in itself a rarity in the Canaries. The pudding choice was poor, usually just a blancmange/sponge cake type thing, or ice cream.

The beer on tap was OK, possibly watered down a bit, who knows, and the wine was perfectly acceptable. We didn't get much chance to drink in the bar in the evenings with our little boy getting tired and grumpy by about 8:30, but of the bar drinks I did get to try, the Gin and Tonic was more than acceptable. Maire also develped a bit of a liking for their hot chocolate and brandy "cocktail" before bedtime. On the subject of the entertainment bar, it's now non-smoking along with all the other public areas in Spain, so no need to worry about that if you're a non-smoker.

We didn't hear of any break-ins, but it's true that the back doors and the bedroom windows are potentially insecure. I have a tip for you if you ar going - take some
"cable-ties" along - these are the little plastic strips which loop through themselves and pull tight, you can buy them in any hardware shop. They need to be no more than 7mm wide, and at least 15cm in length. One of these will help to secure the door and the window; you'll see what to do with them when you get there.

The building work is nothing to worry about. They have built the "skeleton" of the new reception, and operations when we were there were of the plastering/cement pouring type. We didn't hear any noise, and there was no dust or dirt blowing about, in fact we didn't even know where the building work was going on until we went to look for it.

Just got back from Amarilla

We had good weather to say it was November

The entertainment was ok. Smelly Kelly was really good but my kids were teenagers and there wasn't much for them to do.

The bar staff during the day wasn't as friendly as the bar staff at night! Omar and Michael was great!

The place was very clean and it was a big complex

The pools were dead cold though!!

The food was edible but wasn't the best

I would return to this place

Just had our 5th visit to the Caletta Amarilla. Last years review was a bit bad but this year it had gone back to no problems.

Roms were a lot better, pool area was better, food was better, cleaners were great, bar staff great, restaurant staff great.

Our holiday was ruined by the family from hell whose holiday was paid by the government. [yes your taxes paid for her holiday] so we spent more time off complex, but there was still a great bunch of people to spend time with at night.

Had a great time here.

The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The food was good, I have a very fussy eater for a child and I was able to feed him at all meals with no problems.

The apartments were clean and well maintained and I thought in a fairly good position for the town and the beach.

The bar staff and entertainment staff were excellent.

Don't know what else to say, except I will go back.

We stayed two weeks at the Caleta Amarilla. On arrival we got to our room finding it very clean. However it was a little dated, the drawers were broken in the bedroom and the bathroom window was cracked. The lock on the back door of the apartment was a bit flimsy, other than that it was what I had expected.

The food at the hotel was very good. A good selection of snacks available from two poolside bars ie toasted sandwiches, pizzas, hot dogs chips all freshly made. The food in the restaurant was good too and quite varied. Drinks in the restaurant in the evening were self service, even the beer and wine!!!!.

Both pools were nice but very cold even though the weather was good. There was not many sun brollies though, and the chairs at the poolside bar on the A side really were well past their best.

Staff were always polite and helpful and good with the kids. Both of our children really liked the kids club with Nutty Nic, Sunny Sarah (who is obsessed with marmite) and Suzy. Even though our youngest is not really used to staying with others he still loved going.

The entertainment, what we saw was good, they do like their cartoon heroes a bit too much though!! There was bingo and entertainment on nightly, mostly provided by First Choice reps (Smelly Kelly was our sons favourite)

All in all we had a brilliant time. It was great fun and we made some fab new friends and it had a good laugh. We would go back but we would wait to see if it was updated a bit first.

We travelled to Caleta Amerilla for 1 week and booked this 2-3 weeks before we travelled.

Was a little dubious as was told building work at hotel which made us think. but don't let this put you off, they are building but you don't hear or see anything (unless you walk past the area there building the new reception even then no noise). well out of way of pools and public areas.

Apartments were nice. Nice to have a full apartment even though your on all inclusive basis. Rooms could have been a little more modern but still they were clean and had everything you needed.

Maids were very good - best known when on holiday complex was very clean and rooms always cleaned to high standard. (and cleaned quite often compared to previous holidays) couldn't fault the cleanliness of this complex,.

First choice has an office on site so this was handy if you needed a rep at all.

The food in the snack bars was always hot and served quickly freshly prepred. serving pizza's BLT (pete's favorite as no marmite available!!!!)

Food from restaurant was ok. chips available everynight and a good variety available.did eat out 2 nights.

Entertainment was mainly family generated but the hypnotist was very good. Kids disco was great for the kids but as mentioned before we can't get cartoon heros out of our heads now.!!!!!!!!

Didn't have kids but the kids club was great (even though sunny sarah did fancy my man) she was lovely though bless her. they were great with the kids and kept them entertained well

Overall we had a great week at the Caleta Amerilla and would definatly return with family one day.

Made some great friends you know who you are.

We have just returned from a weeks break and had a really lovely relaxing holiday. This is our third time to Caleta but the first for staying in these apartments. They were lovely but the only problem was it was at the very end of the season and hardly anybody was there. This also included the entertainment as there was none! This wasn't too much of a problem as there is plenty to do in town.

I would return but maybe at a different time of year.

We arrived on Wednesday 16th November 2005 and were amazed at how clean and beautiful the place was.

We have a 3 year old daughter and we were a bit worried about the location as it was in the flight path (see other comments).

However, these didn't pose a problem for us at all, in fact we enjoyed seeing them, especially our daughter - it was the highlight of her holiday.

There was a Kids Club just up the road from Caleta Dorada which was excellent. Ellie went in the morning, sometimes for a couple of hours, depending on what they were doing, and on an evening, (around 5-7pm) which for 6 euros they provided pizza and film night which was great.

The Reps for the Kids Club were really efficient, and you feel you could trust them with your children.

We ordered a welcome pack which cost

Got back yesterday from the Caleta D , and have already booked to go back next October (All inclusive)with First Choice, it had been 6 years since we last went, and I must say we we're very impressed.

The apartments were very nice the maid service was first class, in fact all the staff at the complex were very helpful and friendly, the entertainment that was provided by First choice was fantastic(we had actually booked with Direct Holidays but First choice really made our holiday).

The 3 entertainers Donna, Fran and Keiron worked tirelessly and they even had me joining in up on the stage on more than one occasion(which is a miracle)they gave us some great fun packed nights, the kids had their best holiday ever...I can't speak highly enough of the place...can't wait for next year
