This is a large hotel and I stayed in block two which seemed the best option (I had e-mailed the hotel previously to request) it is not noisy and close to amenities

Shop around for the best price. sometimes it is cheaper to use the internet like Trivago and other times booking with the hotel direct is cheaper, strange but the last booking I made for later in the year I am making a saving of £40 a night on an airport hotel booking. Some hotels like Barcelo give discounts if you register with them under their My Barcelo banner 5% plus 5% for over 55's.

Away from the swimming pool area, very noisy all afternoon, those who wanted their afternoon siesta were not happy.

Don't take a room at the back of the hotel as these seem to be the ones plagued by mosquitoes.

Slightly more than a 20 minute walk from town. Car definitely needed, but well worth it.

caleta del fuste is a fairly small resort with a nice beach & harbour. had a lovely seafood lunch outside a restaurant by the pirate ship.

The resort is reasonably clean and tidy, very little nightlife just a few bars (would recommend the Sixties Bar for a quite drink). There are plenty of places to eat but they are all very similar and definately cater for the British. Went to a nice restaurant on the beach front, part of the Barcelo site, little bit different to the standard steak and chips, and a little more formal, staff were very friendly and accomodating and only slightly more expensive.
The resort is full of small netto's which are quite expensive (even allowing for exchanged rate changes recently), or as our rep put it "not spanish for value"
but there is a larger 'Spar' supermarket in the Atlantico centre near to the Sheraton hotel which was much cheaper and had a much bigger stock. Our rep told us it was a 20 min walk and recommeded getting a taxi but we found it a nice 10 minute stroll down the beach (away from the harbour)
Caleta is a nice quiet family resort, but apart from a whale searching trip, mini golf and a tennis court there is really very little to do, we were glad we only went for 1 week.
The same seems to be true of Fuerteventura as a whole there is an animal park in the south of the Island and a general island tour but the rest of the excursions offered by our travel agent were to Lanzerote which is only 45 mins away on a ferry. (this could however have been because we visited out of main season)
All in all i'd say its a great place to go if you just want to spend a week lying in the sun (not much of that in January though!)

January 2010 will be our fourth visit to this resort.(God willing) We have always found it to be a clean, friendly resort, with loads of bars that offer good entertainment for all tastes. Restuarants in abundance with food to suit all budgets.Lovely clean shops with friendly staff. Beautiful beach, with tarmac road all around the coast which allows you to walk right round the coast of the resort.Street market on a Saturday with a great number of stalls selling all types of ware from food to clothes to local wares. All in all a lovely resort for people from all walks of life with something for everyone.Excursions, hire of quad bikes, boat sails to Lanzarote ect all available. A TRUELY LOVELY RESORT.

Not that impressed, made the most of our 11 days but its not a memorable place, on a positive note there were several really good restaurants, Mambos we found to be very consistent, good prices and friendly staff.

nice quiet clean flat resort, good for walking, lovelly small harbour, hire jet ski's , windsurfs, fishing, scuba diving, yellow submarine, bikes, plenty eating places and small bars, large shopping mall in rosario....feed the chipmonks next to the sea outside the elba sara hotel,,,resort more suited to families with small kids and older persons, not for the 18-30 age groups...

Not a bad place really, a bit spread out but plenty of places to eat and drink. But along with the rest of europe very expensive, You could save money by moving from bar to bar making use of the various happy hours and 241 deals that some offered.
Lots of places to eat with about 8 Chinese places , we tried two and found them both disappointing especially as they used spaghetti instead of noodles? Shame really as we had great Chinese for in Gran Canaria and other places in Spain.
A nice sheltered beach that was kept clean.
The Centre Atlantico was a bit disappointing but we were there for the sunshine not the shops so only went once for a look, There is a Burger King and Mcdonalds there if that's your thing food wise.

The resort was close to the hotel and was easy to walk to in the day there was a footpath that lead to a small harbour with a manmade beach with imported sand. There was plenty of Indian, chinese Italian Mexican & Steak bars to choose from together with many of the usual english pubs with traditional fish & chips !!!! Did not see much tapas
As the hotel was only 10 mins from airport we took a taxi only cost 10 euros and there was no aircraft noise.
Overall there was more to do that expected
A trip to Oasis Park was a must the camel ride at the end was superb !!
