Great place, lods of bars and entertainment facilities.
Must visit Britannia restaurant in the gran chaperel centre, lovely food and reasonably priced. Streets very clean.
Must also visit Yumbo, hilarious place. Wonder too far along beach, though, and you enter into Nudist area. Its all clearly signed.

Resort has many shops, resturants, bars and nightclubs, however many of them are gay bars, but they are normal services and they do respect families and kids! Overall rating of resort 4*

PDI OK but nothing typically spanish about it very commercialised all the action takes place in the commercial centers which are hige comnplexes full of shops and eating out places. the Yumbo is the best for families, some restaurants by the beach worth a visit but more expensive. Romas has nightly entertaintment, food nice as well. resort seemed quite dirty and not as weel kept as resorts in other parts of Spain, lots of litter and dirty pavements.

All the time we were in Playa Del Ingles we found all the resort to be very clean, there was no litter on the streets at all, also the beach was very clean. We would visit this resort again as we found that there was alot to do both day and night.

Please read through to the end of the review for the best kept secret of the resort.
Things to do. Well worth taking a taxi down to the far end of the Promenade Meloneras and walking along to the Maspalomas Lighthouse. Great sea views and some nice shops, bars and restaurants. In the row of restaurants along this walk at Maspalomas you will find the Café Athena. Try the cheese and ham croissants for breakfast or a midday snack, or any of the cakes for a pudding. Coffee is great too. We ate in another restaurant but went there for pudding! Definitely a good choice and very cheap too. Also well worth a trip out is the little square in the Kasbah Centre on a weekend evening. The locals and some of the holidaymakers all come out for some ballroom and Spanish dancing to live music. One local couple looked to be pushing 80 but did the most incredible tango. Well deserved applause all round.
Most of the shops, bars and restaurants are located in the commercial centres around the resort and yes, the Yumbo centre is the best. Probably the biggest choice of everything and the best spot for people watching. You have to stop and have a look at Ricky’s Bar with the host and most of the staff being drag queens. It’s always packed with all kinds of people having a great time. We just stood and watched from the pavement as did a host of others. The gay bars are easy to spot particularly around the area near Ricky’s. Some of them appear almost exclusively gay while others are frequented by a more mixed crowd. We visited one of these once called Milord. The service was fast and welcoming and it was really nice to see people of all races and persuasions mixing so well with no tensions or judgements being made. That’s the biggest impression we got from the resort. Everyone does there own thing and everybody else lets them get on with it. There is so much trouble in the world and here is a little oasis with the widest mixture of people you could imagine and not the slightest bit of trouble. How refreshing. The best bar in the Yumbo in our opinion is Casa Juan. It’s just a very plain little Spanish café bar but it is in a lovely spot near the centre square. Great for people watching, great for service and about half the price of some of the others. We both got a farewell kiss from the very hardworking waitress on our last night. Guess she was going to miss the tips!
I promised you the best kept secret of the resort so here goes. You just have to try Dali’s Restaurant in the Yumbo. You’ll find it on the first floor looking out over the square. Very small and very classy. It boasts proudly that it is gay owned and gay run. If you have any prejudices then put them aside or you will miss some of the best food you have ever tasted, and meeting some really great people. The sign says French-Belgian-International Cuisine and the three guys running it are German, Belgian and Dutch. All this in Spain! Now I’m a fussy eater and don’t go much on all this ‘foreign’ food, but this was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. You will be greeted by Wolfie, short for Wolfgang. He’s the German one if you hadn’t guessed. He’s welcoming, courteous, friendly, efficient, and speaks excellent English. If you’re not hungry just get him to describe the food and your mouth will be watering. The choice, quality and presentation of food are absolutely wonderful. We had main courses, sweets, a litre of excellent wine (hey, we were really going for it that night) and liquor coffees for the two of us for less than 40 Euros (about 30 pounds). We then spent a very relaxing half hour or so chatting to Wolfie, putting the world to rights, and drinking his complementary Canarian honey rum. Wolfie is one of the most genuine friendly people we have had the pleasure of meeting. If you’re passing by tell him Elaine and Paul from Lincoln say hello and tell him we’ll be back soon.
All in all a lovely holiday.
