Beaches

We landed on our feet going to Playa del Ingles this particular week, as it was Carnival Week, and what a show they put on. There were things going on all week, ending on the Saturday night with the most fantastic procession which lasted over two hours!!! Pity it rained. The fireworks were amazing - they had the doors to our bungalow rattling away. There were many lovely restaurants but our favourite was the Olympia at the Chapparel Commercial Centre, just behind the bungalows. If you like lasagne you have to try theirs. And whatever you do, try the local brew, honey rum - a taste to die for.

WASN'T AS GOOD AS I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE BUT WERE ALL 24 LOOKING FOR PUBS ETC AND WE KNEW IN MARCH IT WOULD BE PRETTY DEAD. ALL THE BARS ETC ARE TOO FAR APART AND THE BEACH LOOKS LIKE YOUVE TOOK A WRONG TURNING TO SKEGNESS. NOT THE BEST RESORT IVE EVER BEEN TOO AND THE MEN ARE DEAD PERVY TOO.

Our accomodation was situated in front of the Gran Chapperal Centre so bars, shops and restaurants were within easy reach. I would highly recommend going the the Olympia for breakfast and next door to La Rosa Amarilla (The Yellow Rose) for your evening meal both had very friendly service and good food. Say hello to Sandro for me !!
We were about 10 minutes walk from the Yumbo Centre which has alot of shops, bars and restaurants. I would recommend that you go to the Miramar Yumbo restaurant for a meal. If you are not into the Gay scene then the Yumbo centre is not for you after dark. We found it great especially Rickys Caberet bar, with Drag shows and great waiter service.
The beach was about a 20 minute walk away and you have to go down 2 escalators to get to it and stairs or ramps to get back up. We got a taxi !!
I would definately visit Playa de Ingles again !

we stayed at this hotel from 29th march to 5th april, staff excellent, rooms were brilliant, when we arrived we were asked to check our room to see if it was to our liking, may be we were lucky as the following week the hotel was fully booked. all of the staff were very helpful and couldn't do enough for us, food was buffet style, but plenty of it and I never failed to find something I liked. the entertainement was was of a very high calibre, the only thing being the mirrored pillers in the main hall, they can obscure your view unless you get in early enough to get a clear view of the stage. it may have been a fair old walk to the beach, but free busses were laid on and taxi's were very cheap, even though it was only a short walk to the main shopping areas (jumbo centre etc). If this the standard of a Barcelo hotel we will certainly be staying with them again

The resort of San Augustin was lovely and quiet, just what we were after. It only takes 20 minutes to walk to Playa des Ingles but that was a bit too full of PRS trying to pull you into pubs and other people trying to sell you stuff. Beaches were nice but very windy!! Watch out for the nudist beach with the hairy old Germans playing petanque!!Nice if you find a quiet wee spot in the big high sand dunes. Would definitely go back to San Augustin. Much nicer and quieter...just what we were looking for.

We went to Gran Canaria , Playa Del Ingles which was great, loads to do, plenty of shops and pubs. The beach and sand dunes were lovely.
We went in March and the weather was great at 27 degrees. We had a great time and would definatley go again. Make sure you have a visit to Puerto rico too.

Can't say too much about this bit, we had a car and didn't really go to the beach much. What we were impressed with though was the lack of PR hassle in our area as compared with Puerto Rico - wouldn't go back there for love nor money - couldn't go for 5 mins without another time share vulture getting you!
