We stayed here for our honeymoon in July 2003 & thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were located on the 6th floor facing the pool & got 7 hours of sun (which passed over us as there was no roof on balcony) & we got a great tan!

We came here in July 2000 for 1 week & knew we would come back again. We found the staff very friendly & helpful, & the maid service was o.k.

We went half-board & the food was alright, but we are going self-catering when we go again on November 30th 04'. We will probably pay to have a brekky some days as their prices are quite reasonable, but we will eat out in the evenings. All in all a very nice hotel & can't wait to go back!

i have stayed in the columbus many times and find it a really nice hotel.
on my last stay there in may 2003 i was alone and found the security staff very helpful and not at all intimidating. I know they frown upon noisy guest but that is a good thing for all the other people who dont want to be disturbed at all hours.
The pool is great and i have never had a problem getting a sunbed although it is best to be there before 10am. All in all the columbus is freindly lively and in an excellent location, but it isnt for groups as they are very keen on family holidays there. If you are in a group i recommend the piramides which is much more laid back, but i found very very noisy (mainly the younger groups coming back from there nights out)

Apartments were very basic, well used but clean. The camp beds in lounge are what they say camp beds-not to be slept on for too long.
The pool- well it does not get the sun past 11.00a.m. so water very very cold. as far as sunbathing goes everyong is crowded into one corner that gets the sun.
They do have a roof top sunbathing area which gets the sun all day.
Overall summary- well used basic apartments - will definately not return to these apartments.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We have just came back from this aparthotel, we had a pricebreaker deal, we knew of 3 hotels we could be stopping in.The colombus is in a lovely position near to all the bars and restuarants, but far enough from the Veronicas part, avoid at all costs at night....
The hotel was reasonably clean, the maids came in everyday. The staff were very helpful.
We were on a half board deal, but I think if we came here again we would have the self catering option as the food wasnt very good, you are also spoilt for choice for restuarants nearby.
There was a swimming pool, but we went in feb, there was nobody in it as it got no sun on the pool. I dont know if it would during the summer, but there are 2 sun terraces which get lots of sun, including one on the roof.the weather was really excellent and hot while we were here.
We had a really good time here, cant wait to go again, but some parts of PDLA need a good clean up and repairing, there is some building work but it didnt bother us.
Of course you get the looky, looky men and PRs annoying you,but a firm no thanks does the job most of the time. There was no sign of any prostitutes either, the police had moved them on.
I want to thank Thomsons for a good holiday.

We stayed here in 2002, 11 lads (I know what your thinking!!)

We specifically asked to be put out of the way, away from families etc. in case we did make any noise. We were placed smack bing in the middle of them!

Needless to say there were a few complaints about us, which almost resulted in us being thrown out, without us being given a second chance

All in all a decent hotel, but i think staff could do with going on a customer service course!

My girlfriend and I went to Aparthotel Columbus in August 2002. When we got there, we both commented on the recreption looked classy and we thought we should have a nice apartment. When we entered the apartment, which was on the top floor it didn't look that bad, until we went onto the balcony and looked up there was no roof or shelter. I wasn't pleased as the first two days there it rained. The door to the balcony wouldn't shut properly either and the toilet was a right state.

The hotel was in the right location as the clubs like ministry of sound and sounds of Cream were only a five minute walk down the road. There was a friendly bar just around the corner, which don't great food and was play private movies.

The security guards were only interested in chatting up the womans as they waked through the enterance.

I would definitely go back to Tenerife but not to ApartHotel Columbus.

I have just come back from having a fantastic holiday (7/7/02 - 21/7/02). The hotel was really clean and the staff were fantastic especially the entertainment staff. We had fantastic evenings before going out we partically enjoyed the brazillian show and the hypnosis was a giggle! The food was good as we stayed on a half board basis. The pool area was lovely, plenty of sunbeds for everyone. We went out to veronics a few nights we realy liked jumping jaks. Watch out for the lookie guys!! The reps were there every day and were really helpful. We had such a good time and are thinking of going back next year!!

The hotel Columbus is situated about a 5 minute walk from the resturants and bars, but is quiet at night because there are strict rules on making noise after a certain hour. Thre was maid service every day and security was 24 hours. To get a sun bed near the pool you would have to put your towel on one when you got in at night. The pool is huge and there are jacuzzi's on top of the hotel which are 2 euros to use for about 5 minutes. The beach is about a 15 minute walk away, but we got in a taxi and went to the los cristiones beach which cost about 3 euros, because it is nicer. Playa De Las Americas was a great place to stay because it is very lively. I am planning to go there next year and stay at the hotel columbus because after looking round some of the other hotels it was definately one of the better ones and i did not see a cockroach the whole time i was there!

Superb! We have just returned from a two week holiday in playa and stayed at the Columbus. Would definitely stay ther again. Our room was lovely, there is now a maid service everyday. The hotel as a whole is extremely clean and the staff are very friendly. Earlier reports of the lack of sun beds are now untrue, although it is a large hotel there are plenty to go around. Amenities are superb, with 3 bars, a chinese restaurant, and a pizzeria all located around the pool area. The hotel is situated centrally, but not too close to the noise of veronicas. We had an excellent time and we would definitely stay ther again!
