the resort was a little run down and very hilly, the entertainment mainly restaurants with music or duos. the beach was volcanic and had adequate sunbeds and parosols.

The resort was clean, but can not comment on entertainment, because we could not find any. Due to the location of our hotel it was difficult to get around day or night. We visited during a bank holiday period, therefore the public transport was non existent! We did take a taxi and visited the Loro Parque, where you had huge queues for everything and did not get to see the main attractions,
it was in our opinion vastly overated.

The resort couldnt be faulted, plenty to do nice bars etc, especially one we found called the Beehive but cant remember where abouts it was. Take a trip to Llloro Parque its a definite must also the catamaran boat trip which takes you to Playa De Las Americas you actually see bottle nosed dolphins playing at the side of the boat (not to be missed).

Puerto de la Cruz is a lovely resort in the North of the Island and retains much of its Spanish atmosphere.
The streets are tree-lined and mostly, in the centre, traffic free. Lots of shops, bars and sea-front cafes and a delightful walk along the seafront.
A free motorised train every 20 minutes to Loro Park - a must for every visitor. The entrance fee of 30 euros may seem expensive but it is easy to spend five or six hours in the park - and still not see everything.
The north of the island is cloudier than the resorts in the south, so sun-worshippers might be better off in PDLA or LC.
But Puerto de la Cruz has lots to offer its visitors.

resort was clean enough but seemed neglected and in need of some attention, entertainment geared towards the over 60's, nice at night time especially near xmas when all the lights are up, very safe to walk about in, even for women on their own.
nice shops but not much choice, beaches were awful, all big massive rocks to stop the big waves, black sand looks even worse when wet.
would not visit it again, we were probably youngest there and we are in our 40's.

Puerto de la Cruz is lovely at Christmas, the lights, the flowers and the atmosphere. It does appeal to an older or discerning crowd but once you have sat in the squares or explored the streets you will be won over. No louts here and we always felt safe even at two in the morning. There are lots of excursions if you want them. The Night of the Three Kings is a wonderful family affair with a parade and firework display, excellent atmosphere. Great New Years Eve celebrations in the Plaze Charco, good band til late and fireworks. Visit, visit ,visit!!

The hotel was ideally placed just a 5 minute stroll down the hill. Lovely beach area, only a 10-15 minute walk into the main town area, which is lovely to wander around. At night the harbour was all lit up and looked so pretty. There were plenty of shops to wander around and amazing choice of restaurants, which we did not try due to being ill. Just 5-10 minute walk to the Animal park, which is very expensive to go in and to eat at. The volcano is quite some distance away. Hiring a car is relatively easy but expensive. A cable car ride up the volcano is great but also very expensive and you cannot walk to the summit if they have had bad weather. We are not likely to ever return to Tenerife as our bad experience has put us off.

Puerto de la Cruz is lovely .A lot of spanish actually holiday there so it cant be bad.Black sand at the beach watch the waves though they are great fun.Lots of restaurants, shops and bars. You should have a drink in the square and watch everybody wandering around. It is hard to tell who is a tourist and who is a local!Everywhere is clean and tidy there was a festival the night we arrived and by the time we went down to explore in the morning it was spotless!Laro parque is a must, there is a free train or it is just as easy to walk the 20 minute journey.Another must is the lido you just hire a lounger and parasol and you can stay as long as you like.It has about 7 pools ,two are for young children and is excellent value.

This ia a fabulous area for elderly people but i would not recommend it for young couples or famillies. There is nothing for the children to do and you dont see many children around the area. Lots of shops and a large shopping centre in the town. To go back to the lack of childrens activities we did go in June maybe it would be a bit more inviting to children later in the year. This is definitely the place to go if you are retired or like a very quiet holiday
