We visited many parts of Tenerife and decided we picked the best place to stay!
We absolutely hated the south of the island (Playa las Americas). It was extremely busy and full of burnt brits! Maybe we just got a bad day though.
Puerto de la Cruz is much nicer. People speak Spanish there for a start!
For young children, it may not be the ideal place to stay. Our hotel had very few children staying in it.
We like to visit lots of places when on holiday, and the bus network from Puerto was very good. Also cheap if you get a bono bus card.
I would definately visit Puerto de la Cruz again.

Resort was clean although there is a lot of builing work going on along the promenade. Not much entertainment at all. Beaches were clean and nice enough, though no sun loungers. Seemed to only get the sun between 6pm and 7.30pm! Was cloudy every day!

There is no beach here as such due to the rocky area, but the lido is well worth a visit. There were plenty of beds available despite only the one pool currently being open.
Plenty of restaurants and bars within the lido area, and the refurbishment of the other pools should be completed within the next six months.
Plenty of shops , bars and restaurants with excellent choices.
Loro Parque is well worth a visit and you can catch a free land train from outside the Las Vegas hotel.Especially worth seeing are the sealion and dolphin shows. We were lucky to sneak a peak at the orcas who are training at the moment.Don't forget your camera.
The whole area of Puerto is very entertaining to walk through, and we had excellent weather the whole time we were there.

We felt very comfortable walking round here and never saw any problems.
There was always plenty of things going off and every one was so frendly. We loved a English bar/restaurant called Zeppelin on C/Mazaroco it was just a 2 min stagger back to the hotel. Andy kept the bar open till you wanted to go home!
The entertainment was differant every night we had a great time.

The long promenade along the sea front is an ideal place to stroll and enjoy this laid back resort. There is always something to watch. There are a number of 4* hotels which front directly on to the promenade.Inland it is more hilly.Although it is walkable ,taking the little train to Loro Park is fun!The penguins are amazing!you can also walk along the sea wall to the attractive Garden Beach(Playa Jardin). The beaches are black sand ,but the place to swim is the wonderful Martianez lido .The refurbishment of the main large pool has been completed,it is open for use,,and work should be finished shortly on the area with the smaller pools

We liked this resort very much and would visit again.
The shops and restraurants were good value.
There is no real beach but a lovely Lido to use.
Everywhere was kept very clean.
We did not use any of the resorts entertainment this time.

Puerto de la Cruz is a lovely town, but as I have mentioned before, its not really for the 18-30 group.

The resort is beautiful very lush and tropical with a real old world Spanish / South American charm and miles away from the brash style of the South. A place to relax and soak up the real Canaries. A hire car is best to see the rest of the North where most residents live. Some fine old villages a short drive away with great local non-tourist bars and restaurants which were mostly 40% cheaper than the tourist areas. Do consider the weather which can cloud over with regular showers - although if this happens drive over the mountains south to catch the sun. To sum up the resort caters for those wanting a relaxing holiday away from the young disco crowd. Watching the world go by on Café terraces says it all. Going for a fourth visit soon.
