Went for a week in March, cloudy most days but still t-shirt and shorts weather.
Reminded me of Madeira (but with beaches)
Good base for a more active/varied holiday, shops, lido beaches, loro parque, coastal walks, walks in the mountains.
Found the bus service a good cheap way to travel around the local North of the island.

The resort of Puerto de la Cruz has a lot of character and is quite picturesque, we spent hours watching the fantastic waves out on the ocean. The local people are helpful and friendly and there are tons of little streets to wander around. There are loads of little shops, bars, and restaurants to suit all tastes and there is a nice laid back feeling. Great place for ladies to walk around and purchase jewellery and lace items, but shop around prices vary.

the beach areas are quite small and have black sand. they are kept very clean and sun beds are cheap. lots of rocks at the waters edge and so not too good for young children. as with many resorts these days there is lots of graffitti spoiling the place.there are plenty of bars and restaurants for most tastes and the general atmosphere is of a safe happy place however i feel a bit of a refurb. is now over due.

We love tenerife and go year after year - always returning to the beautiful Puerto de la Cruz in the north. We love this part of the island and the 'old' spanish charm. Much better than the purpose built resorts in the south. We find the resort to be clean and very tasteful especially around the old part. Not huge on beaches but the lovely Lido more than makes up for it.

We enjoyed our time out in Puerto de La Cruz. There was always something to see or do morning or night. There was no bother with time share touts or those doing PR.
The resort wasn't particularly kept clean. In fact on reflection with the number of closed bars, shops etc. it may be starting to feel the pinch as regards to competition from other holiday destinations. Nevertheless there was always something interesting happening and we would come back to Puerto de la Cruz.
We visited Loro Parque, the Banana Plantation and had a trip around the Island, We would recommend them all.

Puerto de la Cruz is slowly coming into the 21st century, it has an old world charm but with hints of modernisation. It is nice because nobody bothers you with time shares etc. The locals are really friendly. There are too many cars and we did find this made the resort noisy at night. Though you could shut the balcony doors but then you could not hear the sea!! There is not alot for a 12 year to do, Lora parque is brilliant and the beaches are clean but 5.50 euros for 2 sun lounges and a parasol I felt was a bit excessive.

My 7 friends and I (aged 18) had an amazing time at the beach (although it had black sand), pools and the clubs. It is not just an area for elders, but a place where a group of students can have a great time and still feel safe.

Decent, smallish town in the north of Tenerife, plenty of bars and restaurants, and shops beach wasnt spectacular, black sand at one part of it, but it was ok. not bustling resort but not too quiet either, Loro Parque is one of its main attractions.

As our hotel had excellent entertainment we did not feel the need to find any in the resort, so cannot comment on this. Also the resort does not have a beach only a Lido which is lovely and used all day every day. If you are looking for a wild holiday then go to the South of the Island the North is much prettier and a little quieter.
All in all a wonderfull holiday, Puerto De La Cruz
WE WILL BE BACK!!

The Miramar isn't really part of a resort and Puerto de la Cruz isn't a typical tourist town as it's retained a lot of the character of a former fishing village. The location is fabulous with great views of Mount Teide and the town. The Taoro park on the doorstep is excellent for an after dinner stroll.
The beaches are black volcanic sand and the sizeable waves make swimming difficult but mucking around in the sea is great fun. The Lido (Lago Martianez) is everything you need for sunbathing swimming anyway and is only a few euros a day.
