Location
The hotel is very clean and is what I would expect from a package holiday hotel.
The room was just about large enough for the 3 of us.
The bathroom was equipped with all the amenities required although the bath was a bit small. The maids came in every day to change the towels and make the beds. They do a good job at cleaning as the room was spotless. Like all package holiday hotels the internal walls are a bit thin but luckily our neighbours were quiet quiet when returning to their room in the early hours of the morning. Although we were woken up several times a night by doors slamming.
There are 5 lifts which were extremely busy during mealtimes.
The food in the restaurant was ok, there was always something that even the fussiest of eaters coud find. Chips were provided at every sitting even breakfast. There was never a problem finding an empty table although during the high season I could imagine this being a problem.
The pool was a decent size with plenty of sun loungers available.
The staff were all very friendly and I can see why so many people return here year after year.
I would only return if I got another ridiculously cheap deal as I prefer self catering.

The entire hotel was spotlessly clean, maid came in every day with clean towels, made the bed and had a little sweep up.
Thought the food was lovely, a varied selection every night and about 3 choices of potatoes (of course including the usual chips).
Entertainment was quite quiet while we were there but what we did see was quite enjoyable, maybe aimed at the older guests.
The location didn't bother us, a few bars close bar which the kids enjoyed and not far to walk for a wider choice or the beach.
Bus stop for Terra Mitica was about 5 minutes away.
We all really enjoyed our stay at the Rio Park and I hope to go back really soon.
I visited this hotel about 25 years ago with my parents and had a photo taken with a waiter named Jesus. I was so surprised to see him when we entered the restaurant on our first day.
I was talking to one of the other guests and she said that a big part of the reason people go back is because they like a bit of familiarity

Two scenic lifts have now been added to greatly ease the problem.
Staff are excellent in all areas. On the two occasions I asked for assistance it was instant and efficient.
My only problem is the location in an ever increasing crime rate. The "Yellow Brick Road" provides the only access to the hotel. It is dark and lined with trees and bushes. This makes it an ideal venue for bag snatchers and mugggers. We were the subject of an attack, which continue to be on the increase. We spoke to 3 other couples who had been subjected to similar attacks and for the first time in over 30 visits to the resort we are seeing crime everywhere. Our attackers obviously felt very safe as they returned back to the same place almost immediately afterwards.
For this reason alone after another great holiday I am considering never going back. It is unsafe and I never expected to say that about our favourite hotel in our favourite resort.

Bar and snack prices very reasonable for a hotel. Food excellent, show cooking on right as you enter restaurant, menu varied each evening mainly roasts with other types as well, desserts not quite as good as main meal, but the bread and butter pudding was delicious.
Hotel is in a quieter part of the Levante area, just a 10 minute stroll to the beach, just Follow the Yellow Brick Road, which is grey.
Staff curtious and friendly and enjoy chatting to guests.
Did not use the hotels entertainment as there are plently of bars with top class shows, don't miss Peat Loaf and Sticky Vicky(over 18's only), but there was always a good crowd in the hotel and they seemed to enjoy it.
Large pool area kept very clean and water tested for impurities, water cool as at end of summer season.
Would definitely stay here again, how this is a 2 star rated hotel is a mystery to me, should be at least a 3+ or 4 star.

Staff at the hotel from jos'e the director right down to the cleaning staff are very friendly.
The hotel staff led by the manager does all the entertainment including the full monty.
We visit Benidorm 4 or 5 times a year and stay at this hotel every time.
This Christmas will be our 29 time at this hotel although we have stayed at other hotels about 30 times since 1970.

The staff were nice and polite gsoh the entertainment in hotel wasnt up to much more aimed at older people I think.
Location was a bit of a walk to bars that we use though.
Would come back to this hotel.

I will never look at the Full Monty in the same light ever again. Anyone who has seen this will know what I mean. The entertainment wasn't great but hey, it's Benidorm......millions of places to go at night.
Three complaints would be that some of the maid service left much to be desired but I can't blame everyone for that, the shallow section of the bigger pool could be doing with being a bit shallower. (The kiddies pool was too shallow for my daughter but she is quite small and the shallow bit of the larger pool was still too deep for her to feel comfortable) and lastly.....
There was no entertainment for kids at all considering the hotel has loads of families staying. All in all though I had a great holiday and will definitely return to the Rio Park in the future.

Its spotless, the rooms are lovely and very clean with plenty of space, we had a full sized bath in our room as well as a shower.
We didnt stay in for any of the family entertainment as we had no children with us but what we did see and what we were told apparently it was good.
The food for us was a really big let down, I am parky but hubby is not but even he struggled sometimes to find things he liked. I was glad we didnt have the kids with us as they would have only ate chips, they were not catered for at all in my opinion, i suppose we could have just been there on a bad week.
The hotel did have a problem with same sex bookings, there was a big group of lads staying there and also at other hotels and they really acted like idiots, they were stripping naked in the pool, shouting and screaming quite often being pretty sick.
The kids would not go in the pool whilst they were around as they were scared. The Thomson reps did their best to sort them out but I think that the company really needs to sort it out and stop allowing such big parties of young lads to book into a family hotel(not that I am saying all groups of lads are like that)
