hi just got back yesterday the 27th of july ,stayed at this hotel for a fortnight.
had a good time here wasnt the best holiday we ever had but we met some nice people in this hotel, just quickly want to say hello to mark and lisa from manchester, james from scotland, and steve from wales and anybody else who remembers us.
the hotel was very clean you always saw maids cleaning nice!!
the food was okay there was always something nice to eat, but you cant please everybody\
the location was okay the only negative point being the busy road that you have to cross if you have children.
the hotel staff were friendly especially roger the half english dutch spanish speaking barman.
the entertainment was a bit crap, it was either disco for the kids or an oap on an organ for the adults.which isnt everybodys cup of tea.
i wouldnt visit this hotel again because i would rather be near the beach but i would visit lloret de mar again.all in all not a bad holiday for the price we paid!!

Hi its 8th August and we have just spent longest 2 weeks of our life in this hotel. Staff were lovely, often in difficult circumstances ( boisterous customers) the rooms are really nice and are spotlessly clean, the maids work all day long and are always smiley.

The food is awful, we had to eat out for most of the holiday, and I'm not a fussy eater, but after getting food poisoning and spending almost 5 days in my room I wasn't prepared to chance it again.

I have done All Inc several times before and this is one of the worst I have seen, we didnt have kids with us this time(all grown up) but if we had it would have cost a fortune to feed and entertain them and this isn't usually something you budget for if you book and pay for an All inc holiday.

We had to leave our room at 10.00 am on the last day and pick up was not for 14 hours, there was no courtesy room and no clean towels so we could have a shower, again not so bad for us but for families it was dreadful. If you really a "holiday" then this is not the place, the noise is horrendous from the main road right outside the hotel, sirens all day and night from police station opposite and ambulances bombing up and down road and its like trying to cross the M1 if you want to get out anywhere.

Met lots of really nice people tho, and that is all that saved our sanity, so to them can I say a BIG thankyou !!!!

Recently back from Royal Star and found previous reviews to be spot on. Hotel was extremely clean and towels changed every day. The food was a bit hit or miss but it was always well presented and appeared fresh. The hotel is in a good location but the main road is very busy.

The staff were very pleasant and efficient. Entertainment was aimed at younger kids and did not appeal to us very much.

Overall we all enjoyed our stay and would definately return.

Having read other reviews before we travelled we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The Hotel is very clean ,bar staff very good. Quite noisy. Drinks fine.

BUT the food is disgusting if you like salad thats ok which i do but after eating noyhing else for a week that becomes boring. The other food on offer was horrible i wouldnt give it to my dog.On several occasions my husband ate nothing. The bacon at breakfast was stone cold, hard boiled eggs which were black inside watery beans none of it even looked very edilble. So we didnt bother going for breakfast. The snacks weren`t much better they were very repeative, burgers, hot dogs, cheese, ham, salad (AGAIN)sometimes chips and bread. They catered more for Germans and French. We are not fussy eaters either.

But the final straw was we had to vacate our room at 10.00am on the Saturday morning,we didnt get picked up until 2.25am on the Sunday morning 17 hours of hanging about,we did ask if we could pay to keep our room ,to be told no fully booked.

Its near a very busy road and extremely noisy. This Hotel should of not been classed as four star it is more a 2-3 that being kind.

NEVER AGAIN

After arriving at the hotel we were pleasantly suprised at how clean and inviting the reception was. After finding our way around the hotel we discovered the restaurant and began licking our lips at the thought of mouth watering food, only to find we were in for a BIG shock. The food available was cold dull and unedible most mealtimes. We often found ourselves heating the food in the microwaves provided. Children were most definately not catered for as how many nine year olds have a pallet for veal more veal and veal stew! If you like your meals to be served on chipped plates then Royal Star is the hotel for you.
The hotel is situated close to all ameneties, close to both beaches, shops and nightlife. However the hotel faces a busy road.
The bar staff were very cheereful and pleasant even though there were severall thousand people waiting to be served as there was only one bar in the whole hotel.
Reception staff were not very helpful as they did not want to know when we asked for a courtesy room considering we had been out of our rooms for 17 hours!
Entertainment was non existent for adults unless you like rubbish flamenco dancers night after night.Children were entertained for 20 minutes a night with the same 5 songs!
I would never return to this hotel not even for free!

After reading the reports on this hotel I wasnt expecting too much but either a lot improved just before I flew out or some of the people that went to this hotel were used to 5 star luxurary and should never have gone to lloret.

The hotel:

Looked nice, really clean, spacious. When you first walk in you know why this is a 4 star hotel. The reception staff are helpful, no their English isnt fantastic but then they are Spainish! What do people expect. Ifr a Spainish person comes to an English hotel can every reception staff speak Spainish, I doubt it!

The rooms are nice, beds, wardrobe, tv, balcony, chairs, mirror and the bathroom was clean with hot water. Towels and bedding changed daily. To be honest we didnt spend much time in te room only to change and sleep. But then thats what the room is there for! The tv wasnt great although you could get Eurosport and the news.

There are two pools, both with sunbeds round the sides. We had no problems finding a sunbed on any occassion, in fact there was lots of empty sunbeds. The water in the main pool was quite cold though! But very refreshing!

As for the review that claims there was only one bar in the hotel well clearly they didnt go round the hotel. There are two bars both staffed adaquately and service was fine. The drinks measure were extremely high and it doesnt take much to get you drunk so be warned. The bar staff are very friendly and also remember you and your order.

The entertainment started around 9 oclock most nights. It starts with the mini disco which lasts about 30 mins and the children really seemed to enjoy it. They then put on a different show/caberet each night, which arent fantasic but when are they. They then end the night with a Disco. We really enjoyed our evenings in the hotel.

During the day there entertainer have the mini club for the children and also play games round the poolside. Which are fun!

The food.
I am a fussy eater and I ate at every meal for the 7 days that we were there. The food was not cold, rubbery or inedible.
Breakfast consisted of: fruits, cooked breakfast, toast, cereals, cakes, ham, cheese, yoghurt. There was something for everyone.
Both Lunch and dinner consisted of:
Soup, bread/rolls, salad everything you could want, cooked food, normally meat, fish, veg, potatoes and yes chips, dessert which included a cake, yoghurt, ice cream and pastry plus all the fruit was still available.

The snack bar,
Yes repeative but then what more would you expect, its the snack bar not the main restuarant! It had chips, burgers, hot dogs, chicken, ham, cheese a bit of salad bread/rolls. All you need for a snack.

Overall:
One of the best hotels Ive stayed in. Ive stayed in many hotels in Spain and Greece and it was by far the cleanest. A good hotel for food is the Nordia Beach in Kos and the Royal Star does not compare to that but was still adequate for an all inclusive hotel.

Lloret:
A place for the young! And it has that reputation. The night life is great, the clubs are good especially Rock o fellows!
The beach was nice, the shops had everything you needed. The beach at Fenal was also nice which was only a 5 minute walk in the other direction.
The waterpark was only 400 metres away and the go-karts a taxi ride.
There was loads of restuarant not that you needed them. The Casino. The market behind the Casino on the Sunday. The bus terminal was also just up the road and you could get almost anywhere from there.
The boat trips from the beach are also worth while, especially the glass bottom boat.

When we arrived at the airport in Lloret we had to make our own way to the hotel unable to get a taxi got the bus which takes you into the bus station in the town then a 7 euro taxi to the hotel.

The hotel was nice, pools good but very slippery. The only fault with the hotel was the rooms, they were fine for two adults but very cramped with two extra children with the two pull out beds up there was no room to move.

Just back from the royal star in lloret.
I went with my fiance to this hotel, and it was our first holiday together so we were looking forward to it.

Royal Star:

On arrival to the hotel the foyer was beautiful with marble flooring, leather suites etc

We checked in the Gray haired man on Reception didnt speak good english, and was very grumpy we had to get our photos tooken for our all inc card, my fiance got hers but then it broke down, so he said come back in morning.

Now instead of day by day i will now cut to the chase hhahaha

Breakfast: Not to bad theres always someting to eat bacon not as good as ours, beans are always watery, and boiled eggs are always over cooked having more grey than yellow in the egg. And if your wanting toast theres usually a big que for that. and as more days pass you will find that its the same breakfast every day

Lunch/Dinner: Past reviews there are some complaints about the food to day the least its basic, cheap meats etc, but there is someting for everyone, and you have to remember that Germans And French come to the hotel aswell, dont get me started about them, absoloutly ignorent, looking down on the british thinking its just there hotel.

Snack Bar: I was not happy with this my first burger had stones in it meaning hard gursel, but after that they were ok, Some hotdogs were like Rubber. And watch out for Leftovers from breakfast/Lunch/DInner getting added to the snack bar which is ridicolous.

Bar: The bar was ok, and the measures were fantastic half a glass no joke a vodka measure was problay equivelent to 3 glasses in the UK. So be warned take your time. And if it says in your brochure International Drinks dont be fooled beacause its not, since when was Klein Cola an international drink. who? exactly.
All drink were local makes but they were not bad i.e Baileys was called Willys, and just tasted like it.

Cocktals in the bar you had to pay for them, they had a random one a day for all inc, but they didnt make it it fancy like if you paid for one.
Most of the barman are quite freindly but the odd one or 2 dooooorrreee faced looking. And one of them is quite funny he sounds different everytime you speak to him like a Spanish accent the Australian you will know the one, and the girls loved him lol.
And if your not happy with the local drinks you can buy the brand drinks for a discounted price but whats the point, or you can buy a gold card for 20 euros, which allows you take get a bottle of wine and water at meal times, and as previous reviews, if you go up and ask for wine they pour it out of them bottles, pointless or what.
Every meal time the french and Germans would be showing of there gold cards for there free bottles of wine.

Hotel Staff: Most of them are freindly and gladly to assist. Some of the staff in the resturant specially the the young girls need to smile a little bit.

Hotel Cleanliness: Not a bad word at all Bed sheets cleaned every day floor mopped everyday bath room towels everyday rubbish emptied every day what more can you ask for, Extremley clean hotel. There always someone about cleaning.

Hotel Rooms: Beautifully furnished rooms with dressing table, 2 bed side tables, a massive closset with extra bed sheets, ironing board safety deposit box.
Also Temperture control comes on at certain times though.
Satellite T.V thats a joke though not that you will be watchin t.v on holiday you should be sunning it up in the beautiful lloret weather, dont be fooled in getting a remote control for 20 euros deposit coz theres only to english speaking channels CNN and BBC World a con if you ask me.

Location: Ideal location just a minute walk from the centre of lloret. Watch for the busy roads though carefull if you have childrean to cross into the centre you hsve to go across a fly over, and the lloret drivers are maniancs.

Entertainment: Not to bad. The entertainment programs are crap avoid the flamenco show, and a band that plays there cant remember there name. Mostly designed for the kids, and alex and syllvia are fab with them HI ALEX AND SYLLVIA FROM SCOTT AND LAURA lol.
Theres plenty for the kids and adults to do with them during the day, i.e pool shuffleboard, darts etc, the pool comp is bad though you have to play to pay 2 euro when really alex or syllvia should have a key for it.
Watch out for Alex in numerous ways, adding stipoulations to games that if you lose you go into the pool.

Excurrsions: Highly recommend the Barcelona Fountains value for money and fantastic the guide is a bit exentric though you visit The Nou Camp, Las Ramblas, and go shopping for 3hours, then at night finished of with the spectacoulor fountains. Also check the waterpark, but will you dare ride the storm or kamazazze, i did and i lived to tell the tale.
Go kart racing was good to, but the guy that ran the thing didnt speak one word of english not even hillo or thankyou

Weather: 21c-24c really nice rained twice in 14 days

you can also use your all inc cards at sister hotels, on what we seen we got the better piece of the cake.

Recommend you try out the casino, need to know what you are doing though coz there all in spanish at the tables, recommend you stick to the slots.

TIp********** WATCH OUT FOR PEOPLE WORKING FOR CLUBS BETWEEN 5-NIGHT CLUB SHUTTING TIMES GIVING OUT FLYERS FOR FREE ENTRANCE INTO THEM, WE WENT IN ONE NIGHT TO A CLUB AND GLADLY TOOK ON WHEN WE GOT IN THEY SAID WITH THIS TICKET YOU HAVE TO PAY 20 EURO FOR 2 FREE DRINKS, THEY SAID WHERE U FROM WE SAID SCOTTSH, THEN HE DIPPED IT DOWN TO 12 EUROS SO WATCH OUT ENGLISH PEOPLE, SO BASICALLY ITS A CON GETTING A FLYER.

Also watch out for the hotel is a bit noisy uring the small hours.

Facilites: 2 Bars giving entertainment for all different ages on bar has entertainment for the more senoir audience and the other is for kids and adults.

2 outdoor pools with sunbeds, and 2 kids pools attatched.

Games room to dear, and needs refurbuished.

1 indoor pool complete with jacuzzi sauna and gym, really nice down there, and pool is shallow so kids can go down to

1 nursery

1 laundry

2 shower/changing rooms

Rep for Airtours, we wanted to complain about our flight, and my fiance coming down with a stomoch bug and a few others did as well, and that the hotel rowdiness at night, she was in the middle of surfing the net for her own pleasure so she said you can do it today the complaint form or tommorow trying to fob us of whilst it was clear that she wanted to surf.
so we left it to tommorow, to find she was on a training course, then the next day she forgot so she just gave us the address of cust services, she was not the best of reps.

Check In

As instructed by our travel agents we arrived at the check in desk exactly 2.5 hours before scheduled departure. This meant for us to be at the desk for 0540 we had had to get up before 3am for the drive through to the airport. Like dozens of others we patiently waited for the desk to open but it was not until well after 0620 am that the desks were finally staffed for action (why when we are instructed to be there so early does the check in operatives
