The rooms are of average size but are kept clean, the cleaners came in everyday even changed the towels
The food wasn't that bad I'm up for trying anything once being a Chef and yes they did have different parts of the pig but they were lovely. There is always something to eat there, snacks on most of the day and a good time span for the rest of the meals.
The bar staff were very polite and looked after my children making sure they all got what they wanted.
The staff are not ignorant but then I try and answer in Spanish and are very Patient as they are very laid back in Spain.
The Entertainment could do with a tweek We had singers in,quizzes, bingo and all that but no real shows, Lacking in kids entertainment not that my kids seem to care they were too busy playing pool or in the pool. Because it is a small hotel the other guests there you get very friendly with so it's really what you make it. We made some good friends on this holiday And I definately would be going back again. Good value for money. Don't be put off by other reviews there's not much wrong with this hotel.

when we got there,we checked in.whilst doin this within 5 minutes of being there, one of us had our checkbook stolen form his waist bag by a couple.there was no security at all.the storage for bags was left open with no one gaurding them.
they checked us in and gave us our all inc cards so we could have refreshments. when we finally got our rooms, we were pleased at how clean they where.
after 2 nights we had to complain about a group of german students who kept us up all hours. the staff were quick in changing our rooms...which had a frontal view of the sea.
the food was ok,not much wrong.could of had a little more variety, but im not choosy.
all staff wer polite and helpful. the kids went with the activities coordinator everyday.trips runnin from the hotel front gates.and when my sister became ill,the staff were so helpful in arranging for a taxi to take her to the hospital.
i did enjoy the holiday and am going back again this year on a suprise hotel package.so i wont be disapointed if we are in this one

My main gripe with this "hotel" is the food. People say you get what you pay for, but let's face it, it's just as easy to cook food well as to cook food badly with the same ingredients.
Picture the scene. You've had a nice day by the beach (which is nice) and you are looking forward to an appetising meal in the evening. You get changed and are offered "Pigs Elbow" as a main course offering. Hmm, yummy. (The following day we'd gone from elbow to trotter which was even less appetising. After that they must have run out of pig as we'd had a shepherd's pie made out of pigs kidneys two days earlier).
They destroy vegetables. On the second to last day they had broccoli, well, it was green and fluffy and had stalks, but that was the closest you could generously get to describing it as such. It tasted like an alien being had guessed at giving it a flavour and guessed wrong.
My daughter gagged on biting into some "cauliflower" and it spurted water in her mouth. If over-cooked bland veggies are your thing, then boy is the Planamar the hotel for you. They can't even do boiled potatoes!!!
Everywhere you would see residents shaking the salt pots over their food, desperately trying to imbue some semblance of taste.
Everything the catering staff touched (apart from chips, which they know how to cook - goodness knows they cook enough of them) turned to a tasteless mush. Even the pasta they put out was bland - hey guys ever heard of herbs?
Oh and it was nice how I noticed them putting breakfast food out for the following morning. Yeah, you'd really get away with that in the UK.
Fish lovers? You will simply LOVE the Planamar. If you like Hake that is. We had grilled hake, fried hake, battered hake, hake in sauce, hake in breadcrumbs, for heaven's hake and for pity's hake!!! All served on consecutive days. Nothing like re-serving left overs in a in a different guise eh?
And that's without mentioning the breakfasts. Thank good for sugar puffs, toast and corn flakes, that's all I can say...
I would LOVE Gordon Ramsey to visit this place he would have a field day.
If you stay at the Planamar, budget to eat out. You will be doing yourself a great favour.
As to the rest of the hotel, they have any number of ridiculous rules which they choose to enforce on a purely arbitrary basis. With your All Inclusive card, they want you to only have two drinks. Okay, so what if you are getting a juice for your child at the same time? Well, even if there is nobody else at the bar, some of the jobsworths will want you to walk away from the bar, go and put your drinks down and come back to the bar.
But that wasn't all the time, sometimes they'd serve you sometimes they wouldn't. Sometimes you can take a drink to your room, sometimes you can't.
The bar staff, yes they work hard, but guys, if you don't want to work in a business serving the public, get out, do something else. Quite often they were surly, uncooperative and miserable - other times they could be really nice. But as a client I don't want to have to be tippy-toeing around the staff hoping they're nice to me!
The rooms are very small, and it can be quite a lesson in logistics moving a family of four around the room. The towels are indeed changed often, but the maids could do with a bit more effort on the floors. The maids are very sweet though and hard working so I don't want to give them too much stick.
The pool area is very small and you have to get in there early to get a sun lounger. Oh and there are never enough chairs in the evenings, they have another jobsworth rule where you can't take the white plastic chairs from the smoking room to the terrace (with the other white plastic chairs). This came about on an evening where there was nobody in the smoking room and everybody on the terrace stuck for someone to sit.
I could go on.
As it stands, what would enhance the hotel would be to replace the catering team for people who can cook; who understand that cooking is not a matter of bludgeoning a foodstuff into submission by overcooking it.
I would work on everyone (not just a few) trying to put the guests first (the female receptionists are very good) and remembering that you have to do that because it's your job.
This is a three star hotel? No it isn't.
I had a nice holiday because I met some really nice people.
The hotel had little to do with enhancing my stay.

We have stayed in nearby resorts before and you really do get what your payed for, not meant in a negative way, but we went on a budget holiday.
It is a small, very friendly hotel and its location is faultless.
When we arrived, the reception was very welcoming and helpful.
Our rooms rooms varied in size depending on how many people there were staying in them, they were basic but nice the only quarm I would have is that floors were not always completely swept under the beds etc. However with the glorious weather you really dont want to spend all your time in the rooms!
The food was satisfactory although as a vegetarian there was not much choice for me, but the same can be said about other hotels in spain, and the British always want British food as soon as they leave the country! One excellent factor was that there was food at any time of day........ breakfast, snacks, lunch, snacks, dinner, snacks.
The bar had a great choice of drinks and the spanish portion of alcohol per drink is great! The bar staff were friendly and very hardworking. Slight confusion over the rules- sometimes you were allowed to order more than 2 drinks at a time sometimes you were not, sometimes you were given glasses other times you were not allowed them.
The pool was fine in relation to the size of the hotel and considering the beach is on your doorstep you cant really complain, if you couldnt get a sunbed then just take a few extra steps to the beach.
The entertainment was cheesy but hilarious none the less, the entertainment staff were brilliant linguists and were running around with the kids all day!
Something we havent seen at a hotel before is the fact that you can hire bikes etc for free with a simple deposit.
Overall we had a fantastic holiday, met some brilliant people and genuinly enjoyed ourselves, you can't beat a budget holiday in sunny spain!!!!!

Evening entertainment was a bit cheesy, but it was mostly centered around the kids, and as we were on a family holiday, that suited us just fine.
The rooms were a bit on the small side, but you dont go away to sit in the room!!i am a very fussy eater, but I always found something to eat that I enjoyed every day.
We constantly heard negative comments from people when we were there, but honestly, what do you expect? your not paying to stay at the Hilton!!
Also I would like to say, that this is not a rowdy hotel, everything was closed up and quiet by midnight, which is perfect for families.
We enjoyed this holiday so much that we are going back this year

Linda at reception was really nice and helpful and English which was a great help. The maid service was good and they were friendly and always willing to help. The food was good, neither of us went hungry and you can make a meal up with most of what is served, the one gripe i have is that when the kids wanted icecream that they had to eat it in the dining area as that was the only place they could get it. The pool was a tad small but nice and a bit annoyed at how many people left towels on sunbeds and they buggered off somewhere else leaving the people that wanted to use them nowhere to sunbath. The bar staff were great and friendly and if you have kids then the annimation team of Britt and Ilonka were great with the kids and when they win drawing/colouring competitions ect the kids are awarded a medal and diploma. Whilst we were there there happened to be youth football teams from different countries staying there, gladly it was for onlyu the first week we were there because they were very noisy and on our first night there at 01.00 i heared loud noises from outside near our balcony area and when i went to investigate i came face to face with some American kid standing on our balcony as we were between
them they were balcony hopping and as we were on the third floor and woken up i wasn't too happy and told them to in no uncertain terms to bugger off and stay quiet or id be throwing them over the bugger. The next morning i told reception about it and was told that they had actually made a complaint about me jumping over their balcony the cheeky gits. Anyway I heared a lot of moaning about the food and how much better it was at the other H Top hotels but you get what you pay for and i have no regrets about going there and would definately go there again.

The hotel is very clean in every way, the food was excellent, the service was 1st class. The bar staff 1st class.
The pool was cleaned every day and the pool surrounds, what more can I say, it speaks for itself.
There was one or two complaints but I don't think people understand you get what you pay for and that is three star not 4 and 5 star and people have a different way of cooking and we were in Spain so come on guys give them a break its not all the hotels fault if you did not like just asked for a change and see what you get.
There are two things I would like to say is if my TF.Gear baseball cap was handed in please forwards on to me please and yes I am coming back very soon and thank you very much for a fantastic 8 days regards from BOB HICKINBOTTOM.
p.s. Just one thing planamar sack the D.J. as he only played music he wanted to hear after all we are all English not Spanish sorry for this but we don't speak Spanish and most of the records played in Spanish so hey MR D.J. turn up the base and play English sounds please.
As for the kids entertainment they gave everything well done...

Ok you want the truth. The hotel and staff were great, the food, well I am a fussy eater but I had food on my plate every 24/7.
Our room was very clean, we were in room 316 and being disabled not much room to put my chair, so I left it downstairs and used my crutches to get to the restaurant. Mice were the hell wear the mice ,I think the person who said there were mice running by the pool and around the hotel, the only thing I saw were lizards so I think the person may needs glasses, and that is were they live I am no David Bellamy but I know the difference,
Access for the disabled needs a little adjustment to the ramps but no cockroaches like Malta, and as for the people who were there they were enjoying themselves and having a good time. Of course there had to be some moaners that
