Firstly, this hotel does deserve its 4 star status. It's spotlessly clean (apart from the lounge seating, but it was also soooo comfy!!)

We arrived at about midday and were checked in straightaway. We had requested a high floor room with a pool view and that's exactly what we got.

The room was more than spacious for 2 people, with 2 (very large) single beds pushed together. TV (the only English channels were BBC World, CNN and some Eurosport, but then hey you can watch TV at home!!!) There is a mini-fridge which was great, you could get water and drinks in and there was no charge for this. The room had two big wardrobes (with full length mirrored doors); plenty of hanging space, but my advice is take some hangers, as there are not that many. No drawers, only some shelves, so could have done with extra storage. There is also a desk/dressing table with large mirror and sofa bed.

The balcony is a nice size, with table and chairs and also a clothes airer, so no need to hang towels over the balcony. The bathroom was great, large, bright and with bath/shower, toilet, basin and bidet. The shower was one of the best I have had in a hotel, very hot and powerful! Maids came in every day to make beds, change towels and tidy/clean, etc. Bed linen was changed twice a week.

Electricity to the room was operated by putting your room card into the little slot just inside the door. This also powered the air-conditioning, which was VERY efficient and a godsend :o) Inside the wardrobe is the safe deposit box which you sort out with reception and is operated again using your room card.

We went half-board and although the food got a bit samey after two weeks, on the whole it was very good. At breakfast there was a choice of cold meats/salami/cheese, breakfast cereals, yogurts, fresh fruit, toast, fried breakfast (albeit the sausages and bacon aren

We have just come back form the Hotel and we thought it was lovely. The food was very nice with a wide range of meats, however not many vegetables, there were chips though. There was a little kiddie section with chicken nuggets etc for younger (and some older) people.

Breakfast was very nice, was very pleased they had pancakes, however the beans were occassionally cold.

The pool was lovely, was a great size but yes you did have to fight to get a bed with a brolly in the morning. From what i could see there was a man cleaning it every morning however we did hear about a few children getting ear infections which was thought to be from the pool.

The hotel was so clean, the rooms were cleaned every day and towels changed also. The well air conditioned room was a life saver.

We did not see much of the entertainment but what we did see seemed good, We had a pool view from our room which was were the entertainment was going on and if you wanted an early night it was quite frustrating as the loud music went on till about 12.30.

The hotel location was good it was a quite area but only a small walk was needed to get to the main attractions i.e the beach and shops.

Just returned from Salou and stayed on the Hotel Vil LaRomana. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed the holiday. The hotel was excellent, situated in an ideal location to both the town and Port Adventura. Rooms are clean and spacious. Food is very good and as much as you can eat. The staff were extremely helpful and spoke good english. The kids club is outstanding and our son would have happily stayed there. Entertainment was also good, may be a slight bit too much dancing.
Highly recommend this hotel.

This is an excellent Hotel and we had a wonderful holiday. We always try to book a holiday with a Kids club but this was the first that actually had a dedicated room in the hotel by the pool. There were toys, games, colouring stuff and two young spanish ladies looking after them, they loved it and it was open and staffed until 11pm. (closed between 2.30pm and 8pm though).

I have no complaints about the hotel except that I sometimes found the food a little too salty and the beach was a 15 minute walk away. The universal resort is also a 15 minute walk but is an uphill walk so a bit of a chore in the heat of the day. The Universal theme park is brilliant and much, much better than anything in the UK, very high quality, beautiful scenery and great attention to detail, Just as good as in the USA.

Hotel staff always smiled and greeted us with a "Holla" whenever we walked past.

The hotel guests were about 50/50 English and Spanish with also some French and Swedish generally a good cosmopolitan mix.

I would love to come back to this hotel again or maybe if I can afford it pick a universal hotel. We had to carry our kids back asleep every time because they would't let us leave the theme park any earlier.

By the way we got our tickets from the UK from Keith Prowse special offer, 14 days for the price of three, so we could go to the theme park as and when we liked. When we got there we found that the same offer was available at the door. kids under 4 are free.

We arrived late Tuesday night at the hotel Vil La Romana. We waited at reception to be given a door card/meal card and told what room we were in. W then went to our room which we felt was small. There is a safe in the wardrobe, but we could not use it until 11.00am the next day and this costs you 17 Euros a week none refundable (the door card is your safe card as well, reception just chip it)

We thought the holiday was going well until we discovered items of clothing going missing from our room/wardrobe. We told our Rep. which she was not surprised, we reported it reception and they did not seem interested, so we asked for the manager. What a laugh he did not believe us at all, the guy was just not bothered. We stopped the cleaners coming in our room to change the beds/towels. I got clean bedding and towels and changed the beds myself. Then we had to go to the police to report the theft, when you get to the Guardia Civil(police station) it's funny because you have to follow a yellow line which takes you to a report desk just for thefts!!!

Hotel cleanliness: This was ok but chairs in reception very dirty they could do with a good clean.

Hotel food: Breakfast was very good a good choice, from cereal, full English-fruit-bread-savories- etc. This filled you until you had your evening meal and this was good too a good choice of food.

Hotel location: Away from all hustle not in a bad spot really.

Hotel staff: Some were nice some ignorant, be careful at the bar sometimes they can short change you!

Entertainment: Drinks expensive in hotel and entertainment was better out of the hotel

Would we go back: NO never!!!!!!!!

I have found the Villa Romana an excellent hotel. I was pleasently surprised. Only a short walk to the theme park and the main Salou town.

As a whole I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here, everything went smoothly from arrival to departure.

Rooms were not ready when we arrived but we only had a short wait until they were. Even so I was armed with magazines to keep me occupied by our rep Claire, which was a nice touch. Very helpful and always at hand were the reps, as well as being armed with loads of resort info. I was very pleased.

Staff and entertainment very good I did try my hand at Spanish as it does go a long way.

This hotel was very clean and modern. We had our towels changed everyday. The hotel is beautifully decorated with a huge lounge. The food was very nice with plenty of selection and the food WAS heated to a satifactory temperature. Breakfast was the best as you could have champaigne, full english, salad buffet etc. The location was excellent as it its only 10mins walk to the market place and town. Also only 15 mins away from the theme and water parks which is definetly worth visiting especially the fireworks at night. The staff were very polite and speak good english but dont expect too much english off them as they cant speak much of it, but if you try to learn a few spanish phrases this makes it easier (it works both ways). They are also very helpful and our rep was very helpful. It is well worth going on the trip to Barcelona as it is a stunning city with plenty to see.(You will need plenty of money for this trip though, we took 50euros each and spent it all). The bar drinks are on the expensive side but there are plenty of bars to try especially the piccadilly which is by the sea front (15 mins away). The entertainment was very good for what we seen as we were out most of the nights to the theme park or down town. There is plenty of activities for children and overall it was really good fun. The down stairs area was lovely with a tidy sized gym and heated pool (the people who say it was freezing must have been exaggerating because it was lovely and warm). It is worth paying for your room until 6 if you have got a night flight back which costs 25 euros. I could not fault a thing about this hotel and i am definetly going back there next year. Anyone who has anything bad about this hotel are just being fussy! It is a wonderful stay.

This hotel was lovely, we had read bad reports before we left, so were expecting the worst. The cleaniness of the hotel was fantastic, maids everywere cleaning all day long, bed linen and fresh towell every day, the maids even went as far as to poly bag my make up if left out, and put a rose I was given at dinner in a vase of water. The food was fantastic too, a chef awaiting to cook eggs and meat and fish to your requirments. The pool was clean although to small for the amount of people staying, the indoor pool and sauna a nice touch. They had childrens entertainment on between 9.00pm and 10.00pm the adult entertainment from 10 till midnight, it was ok, same old thing, not worth staying in for.
I would definately stay here again , but prehaps when children are older 10 plus, as little ones didnt really get much thought.

I was a little concerned after reading some of the reports on this forum however I shouldn't have worried and neither should you if you are considering going. This hotel is excellent, the evening entertainment can be a bit naff although Mr Vil La Romana is funny and there is lots to do in and around the pool during the day. If you have kids you cannot fault the entertainment that is put on for them. The kids club staff are excellent our little boy (8) was there all the time and he usually won't leave our side. The staff throughout the hotel are very friendly and helpful and the maids clean your rooms extremely well. I would advise that you take plenty of hangers if you have clothes that crease easily as they do not provide many.

The restaurant food is quite fish orientated but there is more than enough food to choose from although me and my son didn't eat too much but we never do on holiday as I don't like the way they cook it but thats just me I'm very fussy, but I was never hungry there was always something that I could eat and my boyfriend put on a fair few pounds I can tell you!!!

The pool is nice and clean, probably a little on the small side for the size of the hotel and sunbeds can be a bit of a nightmare so you need to be an early riser if you want a day by the pool, but it wouldn't be a proper holiday abroad if you didn't have to fight for your sunbeds!!!

The location of this hotel is ideal, 10 minutes from Costa Caribe and Port Aventura one way and 10 minutes from the centre of Salou the other, I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone especially those with children. Our rep was very helpful as well so if you are part of First Choice make sure you hound Claire for info!

Lots of mixed nationalities stay in this hotel if that makes any difference to you! I would definately recommend this hotel I can't say enough about it, we all had an absolutely fantastic time and would definately go back.

My little boy has just asked me to type that he really enjoyed the mini disco on a night time and that comes from a lad who wouldn't dare be seen dancing!
