Location
The food was plentiful and very satisfying and very tasty. The location was excellent only a small walk to port aventura theme park and the water park.
The hotel staff was very helpfull. The entertainment generally involved audience participation which made for a good laugh.

Cleanliness on the whole good apart from housekeeping in the room, as floor not regularly brushed or mopped out.
Staff pleasant & make an effort especially with the Children some bar staff not especially eager to serve you at the bar ( stood at the bar for at least 10 mins waiting to be served while bar staff / waiters played at tossing their tips into bucket from over the bar, chose to drink outwith the hotel after that.
Entertainment as per the usual hotel standards, participation ect.
Food generally of a good standard & plentifull (fish very good some meats fatty, tough ect) meat carvery usually of a good standard.
Quite repetitive if staying longer than a week.
Would certainly consider staying at this hotel again but as my wife is a head housekeeper in a 4 star country house hotel in the highlands she wasn't particularly impressed with our housekeeper / chambermaid standard.
I wouldn't put anyone off because of this though.

Our holiday was so fantastic we have already booked up again (at the Villa Romana) for next year.
We booked half board but if we wanted to eat out one evening you were able to swap your dinner that evening for a lunch so as not to lose out on your half board deal.
The food was excellent by buffet standards with an endless choice, much of which was being freshly cooked there and then to your requirements. They do a mean fruit smoothie at breakfast. My thanks go to the restaurant staff as one of my daughters took chicken pox shortly after arriving and whilst she was room bound they gave us free rein of the restaurant, shipping food back and forth from the room. They always made a point of asking how she was and made a fuss of her when she was better.
The hotel was spotless and our room was cleaned every day. Fresh towels were in abundance if required. The hotel also provides you with poolside towels ( for a returnable deposit) and you could change them every day.
The location is also really good. You are 10 mins from the beach and the same to the park (slight downfall is that the park is an uphill walk) but it's great when you are coming home at midnight when the park closes.
We bought the holiday pass up at the park which gives you 15 consecutive days in the park itself and one day (must pick a date on booking) at the Caribe waterpark next door. A very good purchase as you can come in and out as you please. Night time visits are great as its cooler, queues were sometimes non existent and there is a spectacular firework display at midnight.
We were delighted with the room, we had booked a double but were upgraded to a junior suite. The balcony was small but we didn't want to spend two weeks on a balcony anyway. The room had two queen size beds and a fold away sofa bed.(this would accommodate two children under 12 alone) The bathroom was large with a bath (internal shower) and also a single shower unit. It could have done with a set of drawers, however, the wardrobes were large and therefore would suggest taking hangers to combat lack of drawer space. Cases fit under beds. An empty fridge is available for your use and the air conditioning works very well. No Kettle available for hire but you can purchase hot drinks from the bar and take up to your room.
Hotel has two 24 hr dispensing machines. One you can purchase ice creams from and the other chilled water. Pay phones in foyer area but you do have a phone in your room. Cash machine also in foyer.
99% of the staff were very friendly and helpful. As our daughter was hidden away for a large portion of holiday we did not get the benefit of the children's entertainment programme but would comment that what we did see was very well done and the kids were having a ball. Our kids loved the mini disco and games.
There is an active daytime entertainment programme and the nightly entertainment we saw was also well done. An excellent Platters tribute band. We avoided the Mr Villa Romana/ Men against Women type nights (audience participation) but the hotel are catering for a wide audience of likes and dislikes and in my opinion there is something for everyone.
We did visit some of the Themed Hotels to see if it would be a possible alternative for next year and admittedly they too seemed to be of a very high standard. However we saw no reason to book anywhere else when we found this hotel to be of a 5* standard. Our fear is that the other hotels may in the end not meet up to the the same benchmark that the Villa Romana has laid down.
We are all looking forward to next year.

Food at breakfast was varied with fried eggs, omelettes and pancakes cooked fresh in front of you. Fresh friut, cereal, breads, cheese, cold meats, these are a few of the choices on offer and you can go back as many times as you like.
Dinner was much the same each night but still a good selection to have something different everynight, the food thats cooked in front of you is cooked but if you dont like beef pinkish ask for it well done the chefs dont take offence.
Location was excellent 10 mins to town and port aventura
Staff were all friendly and willing to help
Didn't see much of the entertainment as we was out shopping everynight(women)
I would certainly visit again

Evening entetainment was very good, house entertainer not very good as appeared to be entertaining himself and not the guests, but visiting entertainers 1st class.
rooms spotless and cleaned every day, we left room late on several days and was not disturbed by maid, but room always clean when returned.
if going to salou, choose this hotel

The entertainment largely was a little on the dull side, but it did have its moments.
The problem with this hotel I'm afraid was the food:it was generally pretty awful.
Personally, I'll eat just about anything, but I was struggling to make a meal out of the(admittedly wide) choice available.
If you have children who are fussy eaters then you will be struggling here. In fairness the breakfasts weren't bad otherwises it would have got no stars.

The only problem I found with this hotel is that it was the worst food I have ever experienced in a hotel (and this was supposed to be 4 star!) In their favour it was off season and most of the guests were not British so they had to try and cater for all tastes but I can't think who could possibly like rock hard bread rolls for breakfast.
For some decent grub go to The Vines as they have the best burgers I have ever tasted!

On arrival we found the staff at reception very helpful, we arrived at 1030 and could not check-in until 1230 so they provided us with a luggage room and shower/changing facilities.
The chairs in reception needed a good clean or need to be replaced. We then went to our rooms, they were very clean and spacious. The balconies were big, with table and chairs and the Port aventura theme park can be seen from them.
The bar staff were the most unhelpful out of all other public areas, the prices were expensive compared to bars in the resort. We found that the staff would always serve other nationalitys before the British.
Every evening there is entertainment held in the bar and it was very good, the 4 tops played and it was such a good atmosphere and a very enjoyable evening.
I could not fault anything about the food, it was excellent, normally when i have gone away i have sometimes missed breakfast but this was too good to miss out on. They did typical english fry-up, cereals, pancakes, omletts, boiled eggs, fresh fruit, toast/bread rolls and jams and cakes, fruit juices and tea and coffee. The hotel allow guests to trade in their evening meal and to have lunch instead, we did not do this as we spent most days out of the hotel as we only went for a short break.
Again there was alot of choice of food for the evening meal, there is a salad bar- which has everything you can think of on it, there is another bar with 2 soups to chose from and main dishes- a choice of potatoes, choice of meat and fish and vegatables.
Every evening there was 2 members of staff either cooking a fish dish or grilling a choice of meat- steak, pork or chicken. There was also a bar with a large choice of desserts and fresh fruit. The waiters served drinks on request.
The pool was a nice size and was very relaxing for the time of year, plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas to go around. There is also a childrens swimming pool. The swimming pool has its own snack bar for the high season but not for october, but we could still get drinks or pizza/crisps from the main bar in the hotel.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of going to salou. It has a good location to Port Aventura theme park/Costa Caribe water park and the hotel is close to the resort centre and the beach. You could walk to these places or there is a mini train that runs from salou resort, stops outside the hotel and takes you to the theme/water park and back to resort.
A single ticket cost Euros 2.50. Taxis were also very cheap, from the hotel to the resort it cost euros 3.50.

The entertainment was not very good we could hardly understand what the compare was saying during games and the band we saw was terrible
The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the town centre and a 10 minute walk in the other direction to Port Aventura so location wise could not be better
We found the staff in the hotel on the whole to be very jolly and friendly and considering it is coming to the end of the season were all the staff have been working 12-15 hour shifts for 7 months we found there eagerness to help amazing !
Our room was cleaned every day and even with 3 girls in one room we found it spacious and comfortable
We would definitely return to this hotel and would recommend it to friends and family for future holidays

The room was slightly smaller than we expected however it was spotlessly clean (Maids cleaned room every day and changed towels).
The food was excellent with plenty of choice, the staff at the Hotel were extremely helpful and friendly and spoke excellent English.
The bar and entertainment were good, the drink was very cheap. The kids club was brilliant and we could not get our children to come out.
The pools were fabulous with an outside bar close at hand.
We had a brilliant holiday and we have already booked again for next year.
We would recommend this hotel to anyone who has a family.
The First Choice reps were excellent.
