Location
There is security on now and at midnight they give you 10 mins to drink up and shut up so you have a good nights kip.
The rooms are cleaned daily and have been recently modernised but they are on the small side so what you only need to kip in them as the drink is free flowing and plenty of it.
The pool areas are a bit on the small side for the amount of guests and you can only eat snacks round one of the no diving or inflatables ony arm bands and rings.
Kids are entertained day and night but get down early for a seat or you will have to stand you have been warned as the adult is pretty good aswell, you dont want to miss eva and the girls do there stuff I will let you see for yourselves worth a look ?
Staff are just fantastic from eva the hotel manageress to the cleaners very friendly and helpful.
The location is miles away from Salou but to be fair I knew that it was a good 45 mins walk with the kids each way, the courtesy bus runs from 10am to 1130am then back from Salou centre outside the robin hood bar from 400pm to 530pm. Otherwise its taxis.
The food is always hot and nice but its the same daily not much variety this was a bit of a let down, but don't forget the Carvary at the bottom of the dining hall.
I hope this helps as this is not the holiday from hell as been posted for this my 2 kids broke there hearts when they had to leave and I will definatley be returning in the school holidays.
One other thing port aventura is brilliant book your passes in the UK as its cheaper by about

I went to the bar to get a drink and the smell of rancid vomit hit the back of my throat and that smell was there the full week that we had stayed. I complained to the staff about this and they said it would get cleaned but my words fell on deaf ears.
There was a reception for us at 10am in the morning after our arrival and we couldn't hear the rep over the noise of chaotic kids running about and screaming at the top of their voices.
At breakfast there was a queue out side the dining room waiting to get served and this was the same at lunch and dinner time. We went late one night at 7.30pm for dinner and they were still queueing. If you were going out on an excursion the following day you would have to order a packed lunch before 7 pm . It is disgusting a couple of sandwiches and a piece of fruit and a yoghurt.
The cleanliness of the place has something to be desired. In the main bar area glasses are picked up and ashtrays emptied some times not all the time.
As for ALL INC drinks a maximum of 2 per customer and most times the drinks came in paper cups like the cups you get in McDonald's or Burger king and they were leaking all the time.
The sun lounge with the jacuzzi was above the bar area. The water in the Jacuzzi was disgusting and black they emptied on the Monday and it was leaking thru the roof in the bar people were getting soaked. There was a puddle in the bar with the leak and no wet floor signs were put out to stop any accidents or the puddle mopped up from 10am to midnight chaotic kids running and screaming.
The entertainment crowd tried their best but sometimes failed
The Food was passable and the snack bar was a joke. The snacks were chops hotdogs or burgers outside beside the small pool could be used up to 10.30pm it got dark about 8ish and cold at night too BUT you are not allowed to take any snacks into the hotel premises. OAPS were in the hotel and they were told too eat their snacks outside too by the security guards
Where were the security guards when you had kids kicking a football inside the foyer and giving verbal cheek to these OAPS the parents of these kids didn't take a blind bit of notice as all they wanted to do was get drunk and also the staff didn't take a blind bit of notice
On the day of our departure we had to leave the our room at 10am and didn't get picked up until 8.50pm we asked if we could keep our room for a few more hours and were told NO as they had to get the rooms ready for the next paying guests. We sat in the foyer until the pick up and no one booked in until 7pm and they came down complaining about the state of their rooms that were meant to be cleaned
The location of the hotel is in the old part of Salou and it is very old.
Hotel staff need a lot to be desired uncourteuos and unhelpful.
What I noticed in the dining area young kids getting their dinner with no help from adults spilling most of it on the floor and trying to hold juice at the same time.
The wine that came with the dinner must have been home made as it was unpalatable
This hotel is supposed to be a 3 star in my opinion it should be a 1 star or no star
This was a holiday from hell I paid good money for this holiday.
I will never go back to that hotel, this hotel is not for couples and definitely not for OAPS
The cleaner cleaned and changed our sheets some days but when we came back to the hotel and back to our room which was situated on the ground floor I notice that the patio door was unlocked and I always locked every door before we went out it was a good job that I got a safe or things would have gone missing
I recommend that the British people give this hotel a BIG MISS
Dingy dirty minging manky I would put every word for dirty I could think off but i don't have enough time
The pools are too small for the size of this hotel and the bar is packed every night the air conditioning is a joke and you have to queue for ages to get a drink
Hope you all take heed.

Same entertainment every night ie bingo.
Poor quality drinks.
Water came through the ceiling of apartments and eating area during heavy rain.
Kids and adults entertainment very poor.
Main TV never worked.
Graffiti on toilet doors {male and female}.
Food quality poor from start main meals ok after 3 or 4 days but in general poor, avoid breakfast.
Pools ok but no heating so freezing and well empty, pool bar ok but was informed bar staff on last day were incapable of serving due to drink or drugs so they were locked in a cupboard and security served meals?
Avoid this hotel like the black death, unless you want to shout two fat ladies eighty eight every night and the staff try to start a fight with English, Irish, Scottish and Welsh and who ever wants to have a go.
Trust me I'm no snob but this hotel sucks.

The room had 4 beds in, which left very little room to move or put anything..The balcony was so small, and had a large gap at the bottom! The room was really smelly, but what was causing the smell I don't know! No plugs for sink or bath.. i could go on and on about the room!
Food was good! bar staff fantastic!
Kids entertainers great!
Reception staff rude apart from one!
Pools overcrowded with sunbeds.. so dangerous.. and very easy for kids to get to adult pool when they went to toilet.. and no supervision there!
Would NEVER go there again or recommend it..

After reading all the reviews before we went we were very sceptical. However travelling in September we thought that the resort would be quiet with most families been back at school. On arrival then we given our rooms which knocked us for six we we saw them. There was literally water leaking everywhere. The corridors were 2 inch deep in water the rooms were not only leaking in through the ceiling it was coming in through the cavities via the walls. The curtains were hanging on literally by the skin of a couple of curtain hooks. Xockets were hanging off the wall and with young children this was unacceptable. We booked three rooms together, which we did not get. Now I am not exaggerating but when I say that the water was bad if you could have seen the workmen in their nice little water proof macs indoors then you would realise how bad the problem was.
We went down to reception to report this and we told abruptly that they knew about the problem and were dealing with it. We asked about alternative rooms and we told that it was a no no until the manager came in.(1 HR later).
so what else do you do in these situations then head for the bar.
Fun no.2. The bar area was also washed out worse than upstairs we paddled to the bar got a few drinks and headed back upstairs where it was a little bit safer. Seeing my wife in tears was the last straw, i got on the phone back to England to my travel agent and asked for them to sort it out. A total of three hours on the phone.
We were eventually told that no rooms were available to move us to for at least 2 days due to the hotel been full.(diabolical)
After more phone calls with our travel agent we eventually got a move to another hotel at a cost to us of

On our arrival we found that the hotel had been over booked, so therefore we were given an apartment, which was just around the corner from the hotel. The apartment was huge! Had a massive balcony, full working kitchen with a door to the balcony, massive dining/living room, which also contained a single bed, and sliding doors to the balcony, a twin room, and a double room, which again had sliding doors to the balcony. The bathroom was a great size, and had a bath as well as a shower. Very clean, with the maids arriving every day at 12:30 to clean and provide fresh towels. If offered an apartment, jump at the chance!
The only downsides are a short walk to the hotel, and the only English TV station being Eurosport. (small price to pay!)
In the actual hotel, the staff never stop working! It could have been 23:30, yet the cleaners were washing windows and moping the floor, spotless!
The food was fresh, every 20 minutes the trays were taken away, put in the bin, and a fresh tray of food put out! We can verify that the food was put in the bin every 20 minutes, as we had to walk past the huge bins outside, on our way to and from the apartments! Food was lovely, plenty of choice and if you are going out for the day, if you let them know the night before, they will make you a picnic to take with you!
The entertainment followed the same pattern each night, first you had the pub quiz, which started after dinner, this was followed by the kids club, lasting about an hour, following this was the bingo! Then you had your entertainment for the night, which was different each night, great acts, suitable for all ages. Time permitting, the entertainment was followed by a disco.
The reason I gave this hotel a 4 for the hotel location is that it is a 10 to 15 minute walk to the beach, and if you were looking to go out to the pubs and clubs, you would have to take a taxi, however, the taxis only cost around 4 euros.
We will be returning to Salou next year, and I would not go anywhere else! The hotel Villa Marina is the ONLY place to stay!

We asked to change rooms and was shown another room that smelled damp and looked out onto a building that was about 8ft away, we were told that there were no more rooms available.
The maids put bleach down the toilet to stop the smell but it soon came back, the maid kept forgetting to leave us towels, and toilet roll so we had to keep asking for some.
We had several days were we had power cuts and one was for about 45 minutes, the water also went of and on returning was brown in colour.
The hotel was very noisy and children in the hotel were left to run riot, violent and swearing.
There was a thunder storm while we were there and water was dripping from the restaurant ceiling it was like the carry on film.
When my children played pool they both got a handful of splinters from the cue. The swimming pool had glass in it and one child cut his foot.
The tables are dirty the patio chairs outside were old a cracked and my partners chair broke while sitting in it hurting his back, I could go on forever.
In 25 years of holidays this was the worst.

I never again want them exposed to the people that stayed in that hotel, I have 2 boys 11 & 6, they were subjected to the most disgusting language I have ever heard from children. The violent undertones which rumbled from some of the guests was very intimidating, the drunkenness and adult behaviour was shocking. The children used the lifts in our block as entertainment from approx 6pm every evening until their parents stopped drinking. We were on the 5th floor so we had some respite from them but the screaming, shouting, swearing, door banging, children knocking on doors and running away, adults holding drunken conversations at 1am in the morning would have been enough to make me suicidal had I been more exposed.
This is a very personal moan, everyone smoked, we were surrounded by a haze of smelly blue smoke for 2 weeks, and there was no place you couldn't smoke. The staff used the toilets for a quick fag so even if you sat outside in the evening for a quiet drink, use the loo and you stank of smoke in minutes.
My child was the one referred to by Deanne earlier who cut his foot badly in 2 places on a broken glass that was at the bottom of the pool. It was by the grace of God that he was not seriously injured. I do have to say that the life guard on duty that day was very good at first aid and I think that was why we narrowly avoided going to the medical centre for the day. The guest who helped my son reported that he had heard children throwing glasses off their balconies the night before! The pool remained open after the lifeguard "goggle" checked the pool, however, within a couple of hours it was sealed off again for the rest of the day, we didn't enquire why.
In the 2 weeks we were there 2 of my sons friends ended up hurt, one with a broken wrist, the other with a damaged elbow. Both from accidents at the hotel. There were at least 10 guests in total sporting bandages on various limbs whilst we were there.
The staff (who were few and far between)cleaned the area with all the diligence of a baby cleaning its own bottom! Their idea of cleaning up was to pour the leftover from glasses and cups, indeed any drinking vessel onto the soil at the bottom of the trees planted on the patio. The whole area stank of stale tea/milk.
The room was modern and ours was obviously recently refurbished, but, it was smaller than my kitchen. My children are young so it wasn't that critical, how other families managed I will never know.
There was as previously reported a lot of problems with the power and water supply. Though it was a random problem, the room next door could have both or be without one service. We awoke one morning to neither, we sent my son to get a bottle of water from reception, he was refused this, when we came down to breakfast 10 mins later, unkempt and unwashed (!) they were washing down the huge area outside the restaurant with a huge hose and gallons of water, again we were refused a bottle of water to clean our teeth with.
Surprisingly, the food in my opinion was verging on very good. I am not a fussy eater and I suspect it wasn't always to everyones taste, but nonetheless we all ate each day at each meal time with ease. I have the extra lbs to show for it!
The queue's were awful for the restaurant and the bar, again down to the shortage of staff. But if you picked your time carefully the meal queue could be avoided. We didn't spend many nights for the reasons listed above at the bar so we weren't worried about booze queues.
The entertainment was solely dependant on the person doing the activity. There were a team of approx. 6 entertainment staff and only 1 of them should have been allowed to call themselves an entertainer. When this person ran the kids "Monkey Club" it was exceptionally good, other than than I would class the Entertainment at this complex as non-existent. The second day we were there the girl in charge left the kids alone at 1pm and did not return. I found my 6 year old running wild in the bar with kids as young as 3 totally unsupervised. He said she had just gone to get something from the activity room, we sat with him for 1 hour and she did not return, when the next "shift" came on at 2pm I was told she had gone to the shops!!!!!!
There are 2 swimming pools in this complex and only one has a life guard, who is only there to enforce the "no eating" rule, I never saw him do much else. There is a stand in life guard when the main one has his day off, but he is only to be found in the snack bar, the first week he never went to the pool once. We were sitting in the pool bar that day due to lack of beds elsewhere and we watched him stand at the burger machine from 10am until we left at 5.30pm, he never once went to the main pool.
My lasting memory of this hotel will be the name my 6 year old called his brother a couple of days before we came home "kxxxhead". One of the several new words he learnt on his summer holiday.

we were quite surprised to find little children running around! But the reception ladie delt with that!
So we checked in and everything seemed okay untill it came to the rooms. What happened was the hotel managers decided to put big families in appartments so they could be together. Unfourtunately, the appartments were not part of the hotel.
So one of the sercurity guards showed us the way to the appartment block. We were lead out of the back door and walked on for 2 mins and then finally came to it. When we entered our appartment, it was very nice. It had alot of space and had a living room with a fitted kitchen,2 bedrooms,a bathroom and a huge balcony! But to our great disappointment, there was no air conditioning! We then left our stuff in the appartment and went down to the hotel and we complained to the staff. They apoligised, and said that they had no more fans left-as many rooms in the hotel had no air conditioning(it had broken down). We then sat down, had and drink and talked about it. Once we finished our drinks we went back to our appartment and unpacked. Well at least we had the big balcony doors to give us cool air. But as we found out,we were right next to a main road, and had problems sleeping.
The next day wasnt so bad. We went down for breakfast (they had a good range of food their). We then visited the pool(One of them, there were two), which was quite big and had alot of people round and in it. But there wasnt many sunbeds avaliable and everyone had problems with the flies. The snack bar was good and our kids loved it when they could eat as much chips and drink as much coke as they wanted! While they were in the pool, Steve (my husband) and i went to look around the hotel. The entertainment bit was big with the entrance to the restaurant on the left and so was the bar. There was plenty of games there for children to play plus a club running daily for children called
"The Monkey Club".
For all you football fans out there there is a huge t.v in the seating area showing football matches from either sky sports 1 or sky sports news. That seemed to make my eldest son happy! Launches and dinners were lovely and had a wide selection to choose from.
Night time was provided with good entertaiment with different cabarets and other games including bingo.
Dean (pronouced Deano!) was very funny and made us all laugh. The music though may sometimes be the same as they do play songs that they have only downloaded from the internet (They use a computer). They were loads of drinks to choose from the bar, but the qeues were long! The bar closes at 12:00pm so be aware that the staff would like you to leave at that time!
The next couple of days were great as we relaxed by the pool or went to the beach(its about a 15-20min walk and a bus shuttle runs throught out the day)
Altogether,we had a happy week at the villa marina club and we all decided to maybe come back again next year!
