Not a 4star and dated, and some staff members rude , we book this hotel on its ratings , but it about a 3star

Request a room that is facing away from the pool area if you want quiet at night. The rooms facing out have great views and are also very quiet at night even though there is live entertainment going on.

They have water stations dotted around the hotel, which is a great idea. You buy a recyclable bottle for €4 and you can fill it as many times as you like! Saves on buying lots of plastic bottles from supermarkets etc. Eco Friendly ?

Pool view rooms are good, if you want to watch the entertainment from your room. The entertainment is over by 11pm so no problem with noise, unless you go to bed early. Calypso 1 is the block with the restaurant, bars, etc. so I thought it the best choice

Beaches

The resort of Salou was exceptionally clean and there was plenty going on. Costa Caribe and Port Aventura are only 5 minutes in a taxi (driven by very polite drivers). The beach was clean and had playparks for the children at different sites along the beach front. I would definately visit Salou again. Very clean and very friendly.

Salou is a very busy resort. There are lots of pubs, restaurants etc - something for everyone. The beach is very clean and picturesque. This is our second visit to Salou and would recommend it.

Cap Salou, situated midway between Salou and La Pineda. A pleasant little area, thankfully away from the busy Salou-proper, with hotels and apartments both on the main road and downhill towards the beach. Cap Salou Centre, I suppose you'd call it, is a small area of bars, restaurants, supermarket - British, German and Dutch in origin - plus a small playpark for younger children. Once in the centre, it's uphill to anywhere else.
Some lovely little cove beaches - totally unlike the sprawling lengths of sand in Salou and La Pineda - offering pedalos and sunbeds but little else. Excellent if that's all you want - and you don't want the company of thousands of other holidaymakers.
Mini train runs on a frequent basis, which offers the chance to explore a little and gets you into Salou.
From the main road, buses run into Salou, Cambrils and Port Aventura in one direction, or Tarragona and Barcelona in the other. Warning from one who knows - if you want to go to Cambrils market, the bus takes you right there - don't do as we did and get off at the marina!! Bus service is excellent - if you stay at Port Aventura for the (superb) fireworks and laser show at the very end, they wait right outside so you can get home. BUT if you stay in Barcelona for the Dancing Fountains you won't be able to get the bus directly back - you'll need to go via Tarragona and (think this is correct) get a taxi to Cap Salou. Tarragona, by the way, is definitely worth a visit. No-one ever mentions Tarragone, but the walk up the Ramblas from the Bus Station to the coast is lovely, the Roman amphitheatre is a delight, and without paying entrance to the Cathedral, you can just go into the cloisters for a view of the beautiful courtyard. AND the busfares are very reasonable.
There was quite a lot of unfinished pavement work going on around and about Cap Salou - much the same as anywhere in Spain and the islands really - so be careful when the pavement runs out. Generally clean and tidy, mostly litter-free - but do bear in mind my party was there out of season before holidaymaking-humans had a chance to ruin the cleanliness with their litter!!
Entertainment generally centred around the bars - karaoke one night, you couldn't help but hear - and presumably each hotel complex had its own entertainment.
A good time had by all in a pleasant location.

Salou is very clean when i was there.Always seen people cleaning streets.entertainment is ok you have the theme park, travel company can sort you out with trips to barcelona and day cruises.go carting wasn't that far away but would need a taxi and safari trips can be arranged which is something i didn't do but deffently do if i go back.
I think i will go back in a few years time but only for a few days to do the things i didn't do this year.
Oh also please note if your going to the theme park go on a sunday as its nearly empty and your ride waiting times are 5/15 mins compared to 30/45/1 hour every other day.

The whole area was absolutely filthy with flies everywhere!! even in the restaraunts the flies would be all over your food,,,the staff seemed used to this and still expected us to eat the food!
The streets were really filthy, we just couldn't beleive it, dog mess everywhere, dirty napies just thrown out.....
The nightclubs were okay, We visited, Kiss, Snoopys (bouncers were bullys) and Crox.
Beaches too crowded and too much unnecessary nudity for my liking especially of children ( i did not feel this was right, particularly with today's state of affairs i.e paedophiles)
Port Aventurer was very good and the kids loved it..only a shame you could only go to Costa Caribe just once as this was absolutely Brill!
We loved the Spanish especially at Barcelona and would visit again!!

Salou and the quieter Cap Salou is a good holiday destination for any age-group wanting a lively holiday.
The resort is clean, with good tourist information available.
Hotels & Appartments range from 2* to 5* - something to suit everyone's budget.
There is a large variety of food - paella, pizza, indian, chinese, fast-food burger chains and British style pub food. Salou is popular with Dutch tourists and a lot of eating places cater for their taste in food also. Further along the bay the village of Cambrils has good quality fish restaurants.
Disco-pubs, nightclubs, karaoke bars provide most of the evening entertainment, although many of which cater for families with young children with mini-discos etc.
Salou is a resort that is being developed. The Costa Dorada was once the most popular of the Costas with holiday makers and big efforts are being made made to restore its popularity. But despite all the development it still retains a pleasant atmosphere. Lots of greenery and fountains, with no high-rise developments (4 or 5 storey hotels, nothing bigger). Very pleasant to walk around.
The beaches in Salou are excellent. Many are Blue Flag and all have good facilities including the smaller coves.
On the surface Salou can seem a bit down-market, all brash & beachy, theme parks and tacky souvenir shops but it is also a good base from which to explore further afield. There's the cultural Barcelona, historic Tarragonna, the monastry of Montserrat, Andorra can be reached within the day, and some beautiful traditional Catalan villages in the Montsant mountains beyond Salou.
Well worth a visit!

Found the beach area very clean, take your own sunbed and chairs if possible. Quick to charge you on beach. Pubs and cafe's on the whole made the effort.

We stayed at the quiet end of Salou, the hotel was 10 mins walk from the beach. The beach was lovely, tree lined promenade with play areas dotted along the beach whick is great for kids. The busier end of the beach near the shops was a bit crowded but further along towards the marina there was plenty room to sunbathe. The shops were ok and ther were lots of bars with pleanty of choice for a night out, sadly we didnt venture far in the evenings, but there were a few spanish bars near us at the marina end, we found the resort very clean around the beach and prom area, but other places were just like you find in England around towns. We found everyone we met friendly, and the resort is great for families with the port aventura and water park within a few miles. Our favourite place we visited was Cambrills, we would like to stay there in the future, but we would definately go back to Salou.
