Not a 4star and dated, and some staff members rude , we book this hotel on its ratings , but it about a 3star

Request a room that is facing away from the pool area if you want quiet at night. The rooms facing out have great views and are also very quiet at night even though there is live entertainment going on.

They have water stations dotted around the hotel, which is a great idea. You buy a recyclable bottle for €4 and you can fill it as many times as you like! Saves on buying lots of plastic bottles from supermarkets etc. Eco Friendly ?

Pool view rooms are good, if you want to watch the entertainment from your room. The entertainment is over by 11pm so no problem with noise, unless you go to bed early. Calypso 1 is the block with the restaurant, bars, etc. so I thought it the best choice

Wasn't impressed with Salou.
Had a great holiday but wouldn't go again, glad we have done PortAventura (which is why we came here), but I have been to much nicer places in Spain.

The La Pineda resort remains ideal for young families and couples looking for an easy going resort. Bars, restaraunts and shops a plenty, all close by. The waterpark is a 5 minute walk away, and Salou town is only a 10 minute bus ride away for those looking for a shopping spree or evening pub crawl.
Now for the most important bit!!!!
If you do visit this hotel, take a tip from us and visit a pub called "The Mad Scotsman 2". Trust us just go there.
Turn left out of the hotel and walk up the very slight hill for about 50 metres.
Once there, you will find a very cosy and welcoming British bar, complete with fantastic British food and beers, entertainment, bingo, karaoke, nightly quiz, pool table and plenty of stuff for the kids.
You'll meet the owner Sandy B and his wife, his barman Freddie, and the rest of the friendly staff. They made us and our friends most welcome and kept us entertained as their guests throughout our holiday. Miss it and miss out.

Resort was very clean and the entertainment was fantastic I would definitely reccommend the Idols Bar, 007, Bus Stop, Crocs and Charlie chaplins.
The beach was very busy and we wasnt to keen on being squashed but we soon found a sucluded beach right by the hotel and it was lovely we went there a few times and even used to sit down there after a night out it was so nice there.
I can't wait to go back.

Salou is beautiful as is its neighbour cambrills. It is wonderfully clean and most spanish people friendly. There is plenty to do on the beach, banana boat rides, pedalos, jet skies, boat trips and plenty of eateries. There are many restaurants and cafes to choose from. It was great to be so close to the water parks and portaventura theme park. Barcelona was 1 hour 30 mins away by train and well worth a visit. We were in Salou for 12 days and still needed more time to fit everything in we wanted to do. A fantastic location and great scenery, not to mention the amazingly cheap and reliable bus service. This is one resort we will definatly come back to again.

Plenty of shops to test you powers of bartering and do not be afraid to walk away if they will not do a deal.
especially at the market on Monday's.
Food selection in he resort i think was limited but look out for the "robin hood pub " & the Blue wave ( Attached to the Cye Appts) as food both good quality and quantity.
Beach clean and sun beds for the day only 14 euros.

Beware of the Salou-Barcelona coaches
from Salou you can travel by "plains " coaches to Barcelona it costs 17.90euros return and takes two hours but the coach does not pick up up from where it drops you off and the drivers do not speak very good english and just gesture in no particular direction. Get him to show you on a map.Our experience was that having waited 2 hrs at 8 at night( in a thunderstorm with four screaming kids) we had to get a train to Barcelona "Sants " then another train to Sitges (arrived at Mid-night) then a taxi to salou costing 100 euros (70 Quid)
My Advise is take the train it is cheap and the station is always in the same place as where you left it ( Last train to Salou 9pm from Barcelona)

Have to say that I wasn't really impressed with Salou. There were not that many bars to stop and have a drink in....unless I was looking in the wrong places!! Not much in the way of family entertainment at night. In the end stayed in the hotel for their entertainment programme at night.
Beach was nice and clean but very overcrowded. There were not many nice shops to look around in. They all tended to be the cheap and tacky shops. Only found 3 shops that sold perfume. Reus airport had a better selection of perfumes and duty free.

Theme park well worth a visit. Great family day out.
I found Salou itself very dirty and drab. We normally go to the Canary Islands and that is where we will be booking for next year. Found this holiday a real let down and even the kids agreed.
Will not be returning to Salou.

Salou is a dump - dirty, smelly and not very pretty at all. The beach too full, every shop selling the same things, not worth a visit. It is such a pity that they don't invest in cleaning it up at night, and making it a more welcoming place to visit. For this reason will not be returning to Salou.
