Hammamat is about 40 mins walk from Bel Azur and well worth the walk. The town is very pleasant with a lovely seafront, lots of shops and of course,a medina. If you dont like haggling dont go in the medina, but there is an excellent fixed priced shop called the Soula Centre where you can buy all your presents and novelties, all at very cheap prices, its all fantastic value and your dinars go a long way.Taxis are very cheap,2 dinars, about 80pence back to the hotel, and the drivers are all very courteous and friendy,as were all the Tunisians we meet.I would recommend Hammamet to anyone wishing to visit Tunisia.

hammamet requires a little tender loving care if is to maintain a tourist resort. yasmine hammamet is lovely with nice restuarants and shops. the beaches are lovely, with nice soft sands and clear seawater.
we went on the two day sahara desert trip, which we highly recommend.it was the best trip we have been on. we learnt so much about tunisia and its culture. the tour guide was excellent and very professional.

The resort is about an one hour and a half from the airport. Don't forget to fill in the card that will be given to you on board the plane - this is needed at passport control. Very slow getting through Tunis airport - they really do scrutinise the passports before they let you in and out of the country, which, bearing in mind what has been happening in the UK recently is a good thing.
There are a few shops and taverns outside the hotel but thats about it - we travelled by cab which are available outside the hotels and very cheap - 10 mins from the madina which is a market place and worth a visit - beware of men coming along saying they are from your hotel - they are not - they just want you to go into their shops and buy and it can be awkward to get out again if you do go in so keep moving and don't get talking to anyone once outside the hotel - you also get "looky looky" men coming up to you on the beach trying to get you to buy anything from dates to carpets - again just say no firmly

Don't think I would go to Tunisia in an all girl party - women, especially the English, are a bit of a novalty still - my daughter who is very blonde was "popular" with the men and we learnt quickly to keep her close to my husband at all times - no going off to a different section of a shop for instance.

We did not see much of the outside world whilst there but it is in need of some tlc as it is the old part of hamamet.

Warning Do not buy "GOLD" from the shops as it is only plated despite what they say. if you want real gold etc go to a real jeweller where you will get a reciept and gua.
the gift shops even send family back to hotel if you say your money is in the safe (You have been warned)one guest payed 300gbp for goods that were only worth 25 to 30 gbp and when the Rep was forced to go with him and the police were told they reluctanly gave him his money back less 30gbp they let him keep the goods. I bet he thinks twice next time.

The resort was clean, however the pool area floor looked like it was never cleaned, quite alarming considering people ate on it too.

As per the hotel comments, the entertainment was good. the sports were a bit sparadic, and they were always laye for everyting. Nothing ran on time.

The beach was clean and the sea was beautiful, however you were hassled and followed by sales people.

We wouldn't visit this resort again.

The resort was kept clean, though you did see a bit of litter late at night from all the revellers (you see everywhere don't you?) & this was gone by the morning.

The entertainment out of the hotel was good, your only a 5min walk from lively night life, although don't expect it Agia Napa or Ibiza style, the clubs & bars are clean, fun & full of friendly helpful staff & all have waiter service. We went to a place called Latinos Britsh Bar?? (you tell me) a couple of times & had a great time on both occasions.

There are quite a few restaurants close by but we never ventured to them because we were never hungry enough.

One place I would recommend you visit Hamammet Yasmine, it's like the new town & a visit to the harbour restaurants is well worth a try. We were going to try a lobster meal (have you ever seen a 4Kg lobster) but never got round to it though it would have only cost around £20 per head.

The beach was of A1 standard, clean, pale sandy beaches & not crowded. I ventured there a few times & swam in the clean warm sea. (marvellous).

Although I don't think this is the place for a young & lively holiday, (& I enjoy young & lively) it's been the most relaxing & enjoyable holiday I've had for a while & I would definitely visit again.

As we were on a half board basis we only went out in the evening in Hamammet once in the week we stayed there so I don't think it's fair to rate the entertainment.
The beach are in front of the hotel was very clean and private.
We visited the Sebastain House and a traditional Hammam, both of which I'd recommend.

The resort was always clean and tidy.

The resort entertainment was great you always had something to do I wasn't bored once throughout the whole holiday!

The beach was lovely it was always clean and tidy and there was loads of activities you could do. I did paragliding. The staff made clear what we had to do and it was a great experience.

There were police walking along the beach and security it was excellent I felt safe the whole time.

Hammamet is a great resort for couples and families, the beach is nice and clean and the location (one and a half hours from Monastir and one hour from Tunis) make it a good location if you want to do some sightseeing.

Hammamet town has only a few cafes the nicest one being the one at the corner of the medina, overlooking the sea, and the medina itself is very colourful.

We preferred Yasmine Hammamet as there are more bars and restaurants and lots of 5 star hotels that will take your breath away. Most of the hotels are open to non-residents so you can go in and have a drink (and some photos). The yasmine medina has live folklore dancing every night and lots of nice cafes, restaurants and shops.

The resort was very clean and well maintained.

The daytime entertainment was excellent, if you wanted to get involved. The evening entertainment could be greatly improved.

The beach was nice although lots of seaweed was washed up on the sand at our area.

I would probably visit the resort again although I would hope that the food would be improved.
