This is a beautiful part of Tunisia for a holiday.

The beach is great with very safe swimming.

The walk along the beach into Hammamett is a joy.

The resort was dead, the beach was very nice but the sea was very cold as was the hotel pool. You get tortured by the beach sellers until you loose your temper with them.

I was accused on 2 occasions of not pating my bar-bill and when I pointed out it was their mistake they did not apologise perhaps if I was german.

El kebir is a bout 3 miles from the centre of Hammemet , but yellow Taxi's are so cheap. we venture into town one day to visit the Medina, but even though I am an ex car salesman I found it hard work, and not being to crowded at the time we visited we were pestered alot, I soon found the exit. Hammamet is typically of many town in north africa shappy but with a certain charm.

We bought a few gifts in the main steet, and as long as you are firm and barter a bit you get a good deal.
The shop owner in the hotel has a very large shop a few hundred yards from the hotel, where he also has 40 staff producing goods. we did our best deals on two gorgeous leather coats with him pay in pounds and you get a better deal.

We went for the hotel not the resort, and I knew exactly what i was going to get thanks to reports on HT.
We didnt do any trips out nights out as we were only staying a week so next time we will explore Tunisa a little more, but my March holiday is to get some winter sun and reat before my busy summer season , Tunisia so fullfilled that, I adored the people , food, service , and Location , you either love it or hate, I totaly fell for it.

If you want to see the true Tunisia, explore away from Hammamet. It is clean but the centre seems like a purpose built resort. You could be anywhere.

You will get lots of hassle in the souq as it is for tourists only.

We went to the souq in Tunis and found it much better. No hassle at all. Lovely city with a very European feel.
Very impresssed with Tunisia as a holiday destinatiom lovely country with plenty to see.

We enjoyed the resort very friendly you soon got used to the shop people/and the haggling. The only thing we missed was a decent cup of coffee.

The resort of Hammamet was only ok. It wasn't the cleanest but not the worst we came across.

The beach was lovely and quite clean.

The gentlemen outside the shop make it a bit uncomfortable to walk down the street but you get used to it.

There was a limited supply of restaurants but the Cascades and Jean's cafe are both a good bet!

There are no bars (other than hotel) or entertainment within walking distance and no alcohol available in the shops - so if you fancy a drink on your balcony make sure you hit the duty free on the way over.

Generally your money will last you well over here and the shopping is ok - but barter down to the cheapest you can get as you could end up paying ten times more than you should otherwise.

Beach was very pretty however had been devestated the week before by a storm. Town was about 15 mins away however a taxi only cost about 2 dinar..... the equivalent of £1!!!!! brilliant!

Cleanliness was marred by animal refuse, and a considerable amount of demolition/refurbishment that was being undertaken I was there. The beaches, however, were quite different - they were spotless.

From the Bel Azur it was possible to walk along the beach into Hammamett itself, taking about 35 minutes.

Entertainment was acceptable though occasionally descending to holiday camp levels and sometimes involving minor humiliation of guests.

The beach standard was excellent.

This is a resort that I would certainly like to revisit.

I have been to tunisia ten times now and my favourite resort is Hammamet every ones so friendly and would do anything to help you.

There's plenty to do outside the hotel and the yellow taxis are extremely cheap.

Not to forget the Latino's at night, its great for anyone over the age of 18. I'ts just five minuites from the hotel and well worth going.
