The resort is very clean, there are too many things to do to mention. It is great for all ages.
I must mention the people of Tunisia who were very helpful and kind.
Great memories.......

I personaly did not feel safe off the hotel grounds. The area is old and tired compared to some.
We went through on our way back to the airport. One amusing factor was the street lamps were bent and leaning from past hot temperatures.

Hammamet was okay as a resort. It is green and pleasant and well-established. You can get a bit hassled and it does look a bit rough around the edges, but we felt it was not as bad as certain reports we had read. If anyone does approach you, a simple 'no thanks' usually suffices.
Cleanliness - not brilliant, does look a bit shabby. Entertainment - not tried. The beach is good - soft sand, fairly clean. We had a good walk down to Hammamet Yasmine (the 'new' resort, more modern and luxurious, but lacking in character).
It helped that we had a lovely hotel (the Sol Azur) and a good tour operator (Panorama). The guides on our excurions were very good and instilled a good sense of the country's heritage and culture.
Overall, Tunisia is a country well worth visiting and we would definitely like to go back. We would go back to Hammamet, but would like to check out other resorts first.

Avoid the beech - the alley down to it had dead rats and cammel poo all over it and you get shouted at by builders. The beech has broken glass and is not suitable for Children. Avoid it!

The resort was relatively clean especially when you go to the centre of Hammamet. I believe November is the quiet season so there was not a lot going on. We only stayed for a week in Tunisia. Most of our time was spent on excursions. I would visit Tunisia again but will not stay in Hammmamet.

Hammamet has a lovely beach, but I don't think it is dregged very often. You are hassled constantly to buy something on the beach by rather unkempt locals.
If you are a cat lover, you may be distressed at this resort as there are loads of cats and kittens. They all appear to be starving and you won't see cat food in the mini-markets. There were even dead cats just lying on the pavement.

We stayed in hammamet and we ventured outside the hotel once that was enough. We had shopkeepers pulling on our arms and standing in front of us trying to get us into the shops. I was asked if I wanted drugs four times in a space of 30 mins. In all I would not go back to Tunisia ever again.

The hotel was clean. The rooms were very dark and dingy (nothing like the brochure in the Hotel Reception were advertising). Maybe it was just our room?. Had to flush the toilet everytime we entered the room as it smelt awful. Going from the hotel to the beach, the smell was that bad, we only used that path once!
Entertainment was not very good - from bingo to a mime act - not my cup of tea.
The beach looked beautiful. Just a shame that there was a hurricane the week we were there!
The hotel security wasnt up to much either as the rooms in the hotel got broken into 4 times in one day. 8 times in the week we were there, and that was in the daytime. Electrical items and even dirty laundry were stolen!
Not much variety at the bar. Drinks were definitely made locally! One type of lager/Brandy/Vodka/Gin and I think they had a red and a white wine, I think that was it.

As we were only in Tunisia a week, we wanted to mainly stay at the Hotel. So can not comment on the cleanliness outside the hotel.
We visited an english pub while were there and it was excellent.
Hammamet beach is beautifull, has a little bit of sea weed and we didn't see one jellyfish!

Whilst Hammamet is extremely traditional, its not the type of resort you feel comfortable walking around at night time. We found that Sousse and Port El Kantoui more suitable.
