Second visit to Royal Kenz. Cannot fault it at all. Hotel clean light and airy.

Hotel staff work so hard and are always pleasant. Room cleaned daily. Food is plentiful and loads of choice. 2 outdoor pools and both areas always clean and plenty of sunbeds. No kids under 16 allowed.

The entertainment staff work hard and the shows are not London Palladium style but are always entertaining. The two sepearte restuarants that you caneat at for one night are fabulous especially the French one. Well worth a visit.

All in all I would recommend this hotel to anyone. We are already in the process of booking for next year.

I have just returned from my second visit to the Royal Kenz. It is the most fantastic hotel I have ever been to.

The food is amazing, we had 1 free meal in both the French and Italian A la Carte restaurants which are superb. I have made some lovely friends with the bar staff and hotel staff.

The entertainment is wicked and my friend and I even managed to end up performing in the show "Grease"!! (No idea how that happened!!)

We have booked our third trip there and we go in September which I am throughly looking forward to. Don't listen to the bad publicity it really is a stunning place.

We've just spent a week in this hotel and in some ways I feel its unfair reporting on it. I didnt feel well when I arrived and spent two days wishing I wasn't on holiday.

The weather (I know it was January, but we always have a week in January and so far have been lucky) was awful those first few days - wet, very cold. I very stupidly hadnt taken sufficient warm clothing, and hadnt taken ANY warm footwear.

Bear this in mind when I talk about this holiday!
We really felt we couldn't fault the hotel. It was very clean, with evidence of cleaners ...everywhere.

Our room was a haven - it was warm, clean and very comfortable - loads of room. (The tv was actually used, very unusual for us on holiday, and had 3 English channels! Foreign version of Strictly Come Dancing was something to remember!)

The buffet food was excellent. I did hear a couple complain, but quite honestly, I think you had to be hard to please - the choice was amazing. It meant you could try things you werent sure of, some were great and you went back for more, if you didnt like them - leave the plate and go back for something else.

And the two evenings in the 'Italian' and 'French' restaurants were just lovely, the atmosphere was so nice.

We didn't go into any of the entertainment, which is the only reason I havent given a score - I heard others saying they'd really enjoyed it.

I don't usually like holiday reps, but have to say the three Thomson girls did their job brilliantly.

I began feeling a little better midweek, and the weather improved, so everything looked quite different!

My only complaint would be that it was easily a 40 minute walk into Port El Kantaoui - which was very pretty in the sun. I hadnt really expected that.(the walk not the sun!) And there was virtually nothing around the hotel, so there was no chance of a stroll before or after eating in the evening.
But the taxi's were cheap. Into the Port about 3 dinars (about

We stayed on a half board basis.

The hotel was extremely clean and in good condition.

The food was delicious, a wide range of selection and never the same thing twice.

The location was ok it could be nearer the port though.

The staff were wonderful especially the bar staff in the evening. They always have a smile on there faces.

The entertainment team consists of 4 men and 2 women. They really make your stay enjoyable and there is always something to do. The shows are fantastic especially their version of Grease!

Maybe in time I will visit this hotel again. I have no complaints to make whatsoever, other people may give bad reports but believe me it is absolutely fantastic and I can't wait to return and see the bar staff.

I loved this hotel! The standard of cleanliness was very high, no matter how hard I tried I couldn't find any dust!!!!!!!
The food was truly scrumptious! I am a fussy eater yet had no trouble. There was an extentive selection of food at every meal. I would highly recommend visits to both A La Carte restaurants, 'Les Fountaines' (french) was a meal to remember!
The location could have been better but the taxi's were available outide the hotel gates and were cheap providing you negotiated a price before you got in.
The hotel staff couldn't do enough for you! Nothing was a hassle! Service was wonderful.
A visit to the 'Casablanca' bar is an absolute must! The resident singer was suberb. I have never heard a voice with the capabilities his had, everything from Louis Armstrong to piano singsongs.
This was a very popular hotel with 'the older generation' getting away from British winters, do not let this deter you! They were fun!!!!
I loved this hotel and would go back.

I suppose we must admit, in the interests of fairness, that Tunisia was a bad choice of destination on our part. From the moment we arrived we had to compromise on virtually all of our expectations.

Still, let's start with a couple of positives. The Kenz was cleaned to a high standard throughout, well maintained & quite attactive & spacious. Rooms were basically fine though nothing exceptional. Be warned - avoid paying extra for a superior room. They're absolutely identical to standard rooms, with the exception of well-worn bath robes & in-room tea/coffee facilities. More importantly, the "superior" status doesn't refer to position or outlook. In fact, many of the "superior" rooms have a greatly inferior balcony view over the back of the restaurant roof & an extremely noisy generator/boiler.

The hotel grounds & pool area were pleasant, providing a decent route for a short evening walk.

Sadly, there were many negatives. The food at the Kenz was unimaginative & often unappetising - clearly prepared on a very restricted budget with limited ingredients. A big disappointment.

With the exception of the astonishingly arrogant, rude & extremely unhelpful reception desk staff, the hotel employees we encountered were fine - especially the hard working housekeepers.

Waiters in the restaurants were very friendly & attentive, but at the pool bar a wee bit too greedy & imposing in their expectation of being tipped every single time they delivered a drink, lifted a towel or handed over a sun lounger mat. (And I wasn't too thrilled at the principle of having to pay daily for a poolside bedmat - for the beach sure, but not at the hotel itself). I have nothing at all against regular tipping, but the culture has spiralled out of control here. You often get the distinct feeling you're nothing more than a "mark" to be cynically exploited.

Sorry to sound so negative about it all - we really wanted to like Tunisia, but like I said at the start, this was probably the wrong destination for us. In our defence, it was marketed as a sun/sea/sand resort & we fell for it. We just didn't expect the overall standard of food, service or locale to be so inferior to European resorts.

We had a fantastic time, here despite the weather, the coldest two weeks ever, and with my suitcase of bikini's proved to be a bit nippy!

The entertainment staff were fantastic with their cheesy grease performance, but enjoyable.

The Dancing Ladies, the travelling drag show was the highlight of my holiday, was absolutely brilliant, the costumes amazing, and the comedy side was great.

The hotel was always very clean, our maid was super, and kept our room immaculate.

Despite others comments, we found the reception staff always friendly and willing to help.

Only one problem, not recommended to wear a skirt into the port area, mine wasnt even short and the hassle i got, wasnt pleasant. I also left the hotel one day on my own and was approached by some go-kart sellers, and when i politely refused i was told i was too fat and ugly for their go-karts anyway, charming!!

Make sure you visit the Sahara, its a long old coach trip but worth it for the camel ride, absolutely petrifying but worth every minute!

I would love to return to this hotel, to use all the facilities when the weather would be warmer, other than that we had a great time, and this place remains faultless.

The Royal Kenz hotel is a haven for smokers, there is smoking in both bars, people are smoking around the reception hall and even in the a la carte restaurants and you can smell the smoke upstairs during the evening.

We arrived at 1345 and we were not shown to our room which had not even been cleaned out it was still full of the previous occupants rubbish so it was then whisked over by the cleaners.

After reporting this to lisa the rep it was cleaned properly the next day after which the cleaner moaned at us for complaining.

The restaurant was clean and very bright but a bit of a bun fight at times but most of the time the food was kept nice and presentable although the food does get a bit boring especially at breakfast but what else can you put on the menu but the obvious.

The hotel is a bit out of the way but the port is easy accessable by taxi. The hotel staff are ok especially at reception.

I found the tips from other contributers excellent i.e.change your money at the airport on arrival and book for the a la carte as soon as you get there don't wait until you have been to the welcome meeting.

Lisa the first choice rep is very positive. Sorry folks not a four star in our opinion three at the most.

We found the staff all very helpful in the hotel from the cleaners, reception staff and waiters. Even the staff who excahnged money, however our tour rep was not.

The cleanlieness of the rooms and hotels is to be recommended. There is a lack of sunbeds on the beach and around the pool as our second week at this hotel, it was full and we had to get up at 7am to get sun beds for all our party.

The animation team were fairly good, although they appeared to be selcetive in whom they spoke to or asked to join in with the activities.

The food was always edible, but during our second week, it became a chore to qeue for it and when you got back to the table it was cold. The al la carte restaurants are worth a visit and both get booked very quickly, however we would advise tha the French one is far superior to the italian although we enjoyed both.

This is a really nice hotel that is slowly being refurbished.

We were given a dirty room we complained and the man on reception gave us another one but you could tell he didn't want to, but apart from that it is a very nice place to spend a week and alot of people we spoke to have been there 2 ,3 or more times.

It was my birthday and my husband wanted to book French restaurant but reception said it was full he spoke to the waiter in main dining room and he arranged it for us and they were so nice, a cake arrived after our meal, but you must fill in the book on reception straight away.

The entertainment team are lovely and try really hard.

Don't worry about sharing a table in the main dining room, if you don't feel like it just look in at your table (you have same one for length of your stay) and come back later no problem!

We will be going back again next winter though people were getting up really early to save sunbeds which is a pain.(FEED THE CATS PLEASE).
