Location
The hotel is very clean as regards dirt/ dust etc in publis areas, but the rooms are in dire need of redecorating. We paid extra for a pool/sea view (which we got), but the balcony was in a bad state with whitewash all over the place, paint peeling off the wood and walls, dirty floor.
Air con did not work correctly during our whole stay, neither did the TV. It took 2 hours for someone to change a light bulb in the bathroom.
The location was ok I suppose, 5 min taxi ride into resort.
All stall were very helpful and friendly and gave good service, but was a bit slow with it!!
Entertainment was poor. Organist doing his stuff every night, singing the same old songs (yawn), bingo (yawn)Daytime activities round the pool. water polo, canoing etc..
Moorish coffee place is good serving mint tea, Turkish coffee and an of course hubbly bubbly's!!!
This hotel is classed as 4 star. I would say 3 star at most. We have stayed in better S/C accom in Greece.
Considering it was the end of June beg of July I was suprised to see continuous work being done in the hotel. Surely this should be done out of season???
We were looking forward to this holiday after reading reports on this site, but was dissapointed with the whole thing to be honest and we will not be returing.

We changed some currency when we arrived at the airport so we didn't have a queue the following morning, however I do wish that we had got some water the night before as none of the shops, cafes etc open until 10am.
We spent our mornings on the beach, as we didn't want to get up at 6.30am to reserve a space by the pool!! But then returned in the afternoon and there were spaces available then.
The food was very good, especially the dinners - there is a good choice for all palates. We didn't have to share a table but we didn't have 'first' sitting and there was someone using the table after us.
We went to both the A La Carte and they were both very nice. There is not alot to do in the evenings but we knew that before we booked so it wasn't any big deal - if we fancied a change we took a taxi down to the marina.
The rooms were a little tired but very comfortable and well air conditioned which is a big plus for us. Overall I would recommend someone stay at the Royal Kenz and would return again.

We had read a lot of good reports so our expectations were very high (perhaps to high). We were checked in quickly, our room was number 5 so we were only a few doors away from reception. (We had asked for a high floor with a pool view, we got a low floor with no pool view).
The room was a good size the balcony was enormous being on the ground floor but there was no privacy from either side unlike the higher floors although they looked a lot smaller. The bathroom shower was not very good the end was missing and the water temperature fluctuated and it did not look very inviting at all. The shower curtain was disgusting, mouldy. We did ask for it to be changed which they did on our very last day there. The socket for the hairdryer was hanging off the wall too dangerous to use. The toilet was not very inviting either the porcelain was stained brown. I think perhaps we were in one of the rooms not yet updated. The room was not kept very clean either during our stay.
The next morning we went down for breakfast with our dining card. We were given the times of 8.00am onwards for breakfast and 8.15 onwards for dinner, we didn

Staff are great from the cleaners, waiters, bar staff to the reception staff and entertainment staff, they all work so hard and always with a smile on their faces.
The food in hotel was very good, plenty of choice always well cooked. The French a la carte restaurant was superb and should not be missed. While we were there the refurbished section of dining room was opened, this should solve the overcrowding which was the only problem we encountered during our stay.
New pool bar also opened while we were there.
A great hotel to spend a relaxing holiday, saw hardly any children the whole time we were there, will be going back in the future.

Our room was spacious and clean and came equipped with tv,phone, fridge and air conditioning. The shower is over the bath which is very deep and me being short did find it a bit awkward to get out of. Towels were changed if you left them in the bath and the sheets were changed once in the week we were there.
Being half board we had dinner and breakfast in the dining room. Tables are shared which to us wasnt a problem although the tables were small and were cramped. Both breakfast and dinner were buffet style with enough of a selection to please as many people as possible. Breakfast was a mix of continental, full English and Tunisian. However remember the beans are not heinz and the bacon is not as good as we get at home :). Evening meal times had a good choice of hot and cold dishes, a seperate vegetarian selection and a Tunisian dish. Desserts were delicious - esp the Tunisian pastries. For the health conscience there was always plenty of fresh fruits. A bottle of wine with your meal is around

Gardens and pool area are lovely and well cared for.
Food is very good; much better than many places we have stayed. Bacon is a bit dodgey! but the fried eggs make up for it.
Staff seem a bit surly sometimes but we decided it was just their way of being professional. They soon loosen up if you are pleasant with them.
Rooms were well cleaned every day and when we saw a cockroach (not unexpected in holiday destinations) it was soon and effectively dealt with.
We definitely recommend the Royal Kenz.

Rooms were clean and large we paid for a superior room, wish we had not bothered all rooms looked fairly spacious and much the same. All areas were very clean and tidy. The Indoor pool and gym were not up to much and were both unappealing and damaged.
Staff were very friendly and any problems were sorted straight away. Our thomsom rep was 5 star(best ever) Hotel location was a bit out of the way but taxi fare very cheap(2 or 3 dinar. Entertainment was poor maybe due to being out of season. A few kittens around very sweet and entertaining.
Food was disappointing in the main eating area however French and Italian restaurants were excellent.

The maids and the waiters were helpful and polite.
We were there for 12 days, but after the first 7 days the food got a bit repetitive, thankfully the French & Italian restaurants broke the monotony.
We had a mixture of weather from howling winds and rain on a visit to Dougga to some very relaxing hot days by pool and beach.
The building works were in progress around by the pool but not too disruptive, but works in the dining room made things more cramped than when we first went.
Would recommend the Sahara trip (camel ride was an experience never to be forgotten at sunset), and in particular our guide Ahmed was extremely informative & friendly.
Finally, we had a relaxing break at the Royal Kenz and would recommend both Hotel and Tunisia to others.
Word of warning about the day trip to Dougga - 3 hours to get there and only there for 1 1/2 hours, not suitable for the less agile.

The weather was lovely - around 25 degrees for most of the week although it could be slightly cloudy when you first get up and it was a little chilly in the evenings so you couldn't sit outside. Be warned though - you have to get up early to get a good sun lounger near the pools. We always ended up under a tree which kept us sheltered, although didn't help the tan!
Staff were very friendly and the rooms were cleaned every day, giving us new towels everyday too.
The hotel is around a 45 minute walk to the harbour along the beach. This is a bit longer than we had envisaged and it is quite hard going walking along the sand, particularly in the heat, but there is a very pretty harbour to see at the end of it. Aparently a taxi ride is very cheap although we always walked so we could avoid haggling for the cost of the taxi ride.
The hotel food was nice enough although we prefer to experience some local food when we go on holiday and this was never available at the hotel. Lots of pasta, chips, meat and fish dishes but the crepes at breakfast are delicious (although we don't recommend the tunisian version of the good old english breakfast!). The French A la carte restaurant was lovely. We went on our last evening and it was very romantic and served delicious foodand good wine. Aparently the Italian was just as good.
Be prepared for some hassle from the locals and to haggle for anything you want to buy outside of your hotel. This can get a little tedious but you just have to accept it!
The Sahara Explorer 2 day trip was definately worth the

It was a bit out from the centre but was a nice stroll along the beach to get there no problem at all.
