Have to try Tommy's bar (2 minutes over the road) - fantastic food and service - Also Meryhem (a 10 minute walk towards square) is absolutely the best if you like local cuisine - try the mixed meze starter - WoW!

Plenty of lovely restaurants close by, and depending if you like Boom Boom bars or places for a chill drink, everything is on your doorstep, but doesn't interfere with your sleep.

This was our first visit to Turkey and we could not have picked a better resort. We loved Icmeler and can't wait to go back. The beach was a little disappointing for us as it was wall to wall sunbeds and shingle, not the best if you have 3 kids! However, that said, it didn't spoil our visit at all. There are literally hundreds of restaurants and bars catering to all tastes and the people are incredibly friendly. You do get hassled to go into restaurants and bars but a polite no thanks or maybe later is enough to stop them asking. If you do stop to chat it's easy to strike a bargain such as a free bottle of wine with your meal or kids eat for half price, it's always worth a bit of a haggle.
The shops are full of every designer name you can think of and again - haggle! I came out of one shop selling 3 t-shirts for £10 with 5 t-shirts for £10! Be cheeky - they expect it!
Loads of boat trips and excursions to suit everyone are easily and cheaply available(ours lasted a full day with bbq and local drinks included for £40 for 5 of us) A visit to the Aquapark in Icmeler is great if you have kids. It's much quieter than the one in Marmaris with no queues for the water slides and it seemed to be used by mainly locals all once again very friendly.
If you get the chance I can highly recommend visiting Teddy, Cengiz and the boys at the Welcome Inn on the edge of the main town centre. Can't praise them or their food enough. They were brilliant with the kids, and us, and we are missing them all already!
Hope anyone going to Icmeler has as good a time as we did!

We thought that Icmeler was wonderful. We have previously vacationed in Antalya and in Marmaris, but feel we would choose Icmeler over the others any time. We were particularly taken with the cleanliness of the town..the streets and sidewalks are spotless (although we don't quite understand how that happens, as there never seemed to be public waste bins anywhere, nor did we ever see street cleaners in action).
There are more shops and restaurants than you know what to do with, the proprietors are very polite and do not try to hustle you into their shops as we experienced in Marmaris and Antalya.
The beach, albeit not vast miles of white sand, was fine.
I would like to post a warning here, regarding fire shows in the bars. We were present at a bar when fire being used in a show went out of control and 2 young British women were burned. We hope that these have now been prohibited, but if you do see this happening, please do not enter the bars..the fact that the shows were happening nightly in tens of bars gave the illusion that all was under control.
(only an illusion)and it is, in truth, extremely dangerous.

I loved Icmeler. No doubt about it. The staff at the restuarants were nice and kind and understand you if you can't come in. The entertainment is good, very entetaining! The beaches are wonderfully good, clean and neat.

Icmeler
We loved it, had so much choice of where to eat and drink which is what we wanted. You did get hassle from everywhere it felt, but we joked with them all and walked in the middle of the road sometimes, also to avoid the high kerbs, by god some were high, wonder how many people twisted ankles falling off them when had too much to drink.
Transfer minibus was there waiting for us bless him, must be a nightmare for the taxi people. Dalaman was its usual standard. Took an hour getting visa's.
There was the usual confusion over which conveyor belt to go to.
The train was running again, so we got that a few times jsut to sightsee, some of the accommodation is quite far out like Julien Forest which actually looked quite nice, but really back of beyond. No shops within a good half hour walking distance that we spotted.
We tried a few restaurants, 3 bells think it was called in centre icmeler opposite the Lion restaurant was nice and friendly got the kids meals free.
didn't like the Lion restaurant, we sat down looked at the prices and just ordered drinks said we changed our minds, they didn't like us not having dinner, so we blamed my daughter who genuinely wasn't feeling that well had had too much sun, they charged us 25million for 2 brandy cokes, large coke and 2 small ones, which was the dearest bar bill for that order we ever had, needless to say we didn't go back there.
Went to the old famous once, but were a bit jinxed with that as well, they gave us some discount as the kebabs weren't correctly done, we didn't complain but they must have noticed why we hadn't touched things and the waiter came back and explained and said they'd tell the kitchen so hats off to em for customer service.
Went to Vinces next to champagne, their brekkies were better than dinners, watched big bro finale there.
Went to champagne for our brekkie once, a very mad waiter called Jimmy I think, we should have gone there more.
Our fave ended up being Captain Bulls*"&s, with skinny rambo, robbie williams (a much older and smaller version).
Fess Bar was nice (John Conti introduced himself).
Walked up and down the canalside.
Went in wonderboys and was slightly disappointed in their food, they seem to get so many people in that the standard drops somewhat, we ordered pizza for a change and it was a bit like cardboard. Teenage girls love that place.
The resort was clean, the palmtrees in the middle of the pavement need to grow 10 foot then we won't keep walking into the leaves.
sunbeds on the beach very cheap 2million so under a quid, you dont get prices that cheap in Spain. quite clean. Wish they'd import a few thousand tons of sand just to making walking on it more comfy. Fantastic scenary though.
Went on Capt Bull*$&"s boat trip, £10 each and £5 for kids, was nice, stopped off 3 or 4 times people jumping off the sides in the sea etc.
All in all, we really liked Icmeler liked being so close to the main road and the amenities and if i got a bargain price for flights etc would love to go back in October.

shale beach, good cheap food, always negotiate a deal before entering, beer 1.20 a pint, trips cheap, parasailing cheap, all watersports negotiable, do not enter if no prices shown and always check the beer prices on the front before sitting down

Have we found heaven - possibly.
The further I got in to my holiday the harder I found it to find fault.
We have always said that we would never visit Turkey - Don't ask me why ,couldnt tell you , however here I am having booked my flights for next yr withing 5 days of return.
Why?
well in short ,
Value - I have heard reports of Turkey goingup in price(would have liked to have gone before) , however I took my 3 children aged 12,8 and 6 , and since we started going away as 5 (6 yrs ago) spent less money then ever before.
We had far more allowances and treats and hence more holiday.
the weather was fantastic.
the people great.
The resturants - 1st class , particulary liked the moonlight 3 course menu with steak for 6quid!
