Have to try Tommy's bar (2 minutes over the road) - fantastic food and service - Also Meryhem (a 10 minute walk towards square) is absolutely the best if you like local cuisine - try the mixed meze starter - WoW!

Plenty of lovely restaurants close by, and depending if you like Boom Boom bars or places for a chill drink, everything is on your doorstep, but doesn't interfere with your sleep.

Beaches

Icmeler, Our only concern was the beaches, we only saw two small sections where an attempt had been made to clean them. They were covered in old fag ends.

Unfortunately it seems now Turkey is changing for the worse.Icmeler is blackpool with sun & you are seen as a walking cashpoint by most. The prices for everything are quite expensive so dont be fooled into turkey being cheap anymore. An english breakfast is advertised as £1 but the soft drink or coffe to go with are £3!People are not as friendly as once was & make it plain they just want your cash.
There are some plush hotels and There are some good shows in the many bars etc but you get bored with seeing the same thing.
If all you want to do is watch football matches all day & drink, get a bit sun on your back, buy some cheap snidey gear & watch most of the locals hound woman of any age this is the place for you.

Icmeler is a very pretty bay surrounded by mountains. It is extremely clean. There are bars and restaurants and shops galore. The only disappointing thing to report is the amount of hassle you get just walking passed the bars and shops - it's only to be expected as bar and shop owners obviously want you to use their facilities and they try to coax you in. All of the bars/restaurants have different entertainment and short shows but it seemed that the barmen in each bar had their own fun dance time, which most of the time was hilarious. (Marmaris is a short bus ride away and is a lot bigger and louder than Icmeler).
The beach was very clean and there are a lot of water sports and boat trips on offer - no problems whatsoever.

The night life in Icmeler was much more boisterous than we expected. Everything from nice restraunts to bars with topless dancing boys are available if you want it. Something for everyone really! The police monitor the volume of music in the bars/restraunts and it has to be turned off at midnight. Also staff in shops/bars etc can no longer hassle you for your custom. If found guilty of these offences the shop/bars/restraunts are closed for 4 days. There are plenty of bars and restraunts in Icmeler and even more in Marmaris which is just a 10 minute bus ride away. During the daytime we went to the beach in Icmeler which was busy (the sea and the sand could have been cleaner) or on boat trips sailing along the coast. The boat trip to the Mud baths at Dalyan was fun.

Icmeler centre has something for everyone. Quiet if you wanted it with some lovely restaurants, especially the Wayside and La Grotta. Or a bit more lively down by canal with crazy waiters dancing on bars. Beaches very clean and very reasonable prices for sunbeds. Highly recommend boat trips, we booked ours through goldtrail and very reasonable prices.

Very clean resort, good beach. Lots of restaurants to choose from though the portions are huge so I and my partner often shared a meal. Most restaurants have this strange practise of serving all meals with chips and rice and either mashed or baked potato and veg and salad !! Way too much carbohydrate.
Before you get to the main course you will be presented with a massive Naan (pitta) bread with dips (Meze) so there is plenty for two to share.
Lots of people (some been many times) complaining about high prices but this may have much to do with the exchange rate against the Lira. 2.1 to the pound on our visit but 2.7 last year so a quarter more expensive.
Beer drinkers are well catered for with Efess at £1 a pint but I can't stand the stuff and the cheapest wine in a restaurant is 20 Lira or £10 a bottle, imported drinks are expensive, in the supermarket a bottle of Captain Morgans Rum is £20, Tia Maria £30 !!! so stock up at the Duty Free on the way out. I was on the Turkish brandy £15 a bottle from the supermarket.
If you smoke rolling tobacco stock up on the way out, with rolling papers as well as i never saw any for sale apart from the fake GV on the market..
I can recommend the Mandalin restaurant (opposite the Taj Mahal) on the main drag down to the beach. Superb Sea Bream and Sea Bass as part of a three course set menu for £10 with soup garlic bread and ice cream. Always very busy and they don't over face you with all the rice, naan, mash etc. Also the Kingsland Chinese was good as they offer a free bottle of wine for an 18 YTL meal.. as the wine is normally 20 YTL anyway it's practically a free meal and you can order as many courses as you like.
We didn't go on any trips but hired a motor scooter for three days (25 YTL a day, High season is 30-35 YTL).
Be warned !! petrol stations are rare as hens teeth. After paying for the bike (with a full tank of fuel) we were told the only petrol stations where in Marmaris or Trunc, none in Icmeler. First day got a bit lost (easy to do given the poor road signs and maps) and ended up in Cliftic (lovely cove in the middle of nowhere on the east coast of the peninsula below icmeler) with less than half a tank of fuel very worried as to how to get back. Got chatting to a local who summoned a restaurateur who came out with a 2 Litre 7up bottle of petrol and another cut off bottle of pop for a funnel. 12 YTL later .. full tank phew.
Entertainment is a laugh, the same bars have the same acts but in a different order and do one song a piece. Tina Turner, Freddie Mercury, Michael Jackson, Belly Dance, Full Monty (they only strip down to their boxers though, my other half was disappointed), Devil Dance, Break dance etc.
If you go down by the canal you can sit between Venice and Majestic restaurants on the public communal seating with a bottle of your own booze and watch the entertainment and fireworks. Well worth a look.
We enjoyed Icmeler but found it a bit more commercialised than we would want and more expensive, I don’t think we will return.
