Have to try Tommy's bar (2 minutes over the road) - fantastic food and service - Also Meryhem (a 10 minute walk towards square) is absolutely the best if you like local cuisine - try the mixed meze starter - WoW!

Plenty of lovely restaurants close by, and depending if you like Boom Boom bars or places for a chill drink, everything is on your doorstep, but doesn't interfere with your sleep.

The hotel (golmar) is located directly on the beach, Plenty of sunbeds usually here, and the guys at the bar come round to get you drinks etc and food if you wish. We only spent one morning here as we preferred the pool area, sand is fine shingle/grit so not the nicest to walk on, but it was relatively clean. Further along you can use areas of the beach in front of other bars/hotels, but some do charge for the use of them, or if you get drinks from them then they don’t charge. There are watersports, pedalos etc at various points along the front, and there was a big inflatable climbing wall, giant air pillow etc which was 10 lira for 30 mins or 15 lira for an hour. They provide life jackets and you just swim out and use. Smaller kids struggled with the climbing wall but it was great fun. (note this isn’t associated with the hotel as it’s further into the bay)
The hotel is also located close to the marina, excellent for the boat trips which leave from Icmeler as its literally a couple of minutes walk, we also walked around to the marina to get our water taxi over to the town of Turunc, (15 Turkish lira each return).
We weren’t overly excited about the resort of Icmeler to be honest, and previous visits to Olu Deniz which we have loved, Icmeler just wasn’t Olu. But everyone has individual preferences. We found that in general the people weren’t as friendly here as other resorts we've been to. The staff in bars etc are a lot younger here than we've found in other places and as such most don't even give you the time of day. A lot of places they are interested if you spend money and go in regularly, but unlike other places in Turkey, we found it didn't feel as genuine here, and at times very overly fake.
There are a lot of good restaurants in Icmeler, but in my opinion it is considerably overpriced for what is to “real turkey” and even less of the real turkey is Marmaris which is just further round the bay. We had good meals at Venice, Majestic, but towards the end of our holiday we happened along the Mediterranean bar (just down from Champagne/Elvis bar) here breakfast was 4 lira and was lovely, we had dinner here several times and the mixed grill was especially nice, and only 25 lira about 8-12 lira cheaper than the rest of Icmeler. We also bought baguettes from here to take to the airport which were nice too. Place is run by Jeanette (english) and Ali, its never overly busy in the evening, gets more day trade, but its nice for a relaxing quiet meal and Jeanette is just lovely!
If you like waiters dancing around the bars and the tables, with the same old Michael Jackson/breakdancers/ bellydancers/ as entertainment then it’s the resort for you, there isn't much else to be honest, we did go to the Stella Show, which were suffering from the resort telling people you had to pay to go in, if you dined you didn't and there was a minimum cover charge of 15 lira, but, if you ordered a cocktail which were around 12-15 lira then it was fine. It was a good evening and great fun.
Market on a wednesday, was ok, we found it harder work than when we'd been to the Market in Hisaronu and Fethiye, and there are small market area along the canal but more overpriced than the main market. The canal area tho is nice to walk around and there are some good places to eat.
We only had one bad meal which was at Asyima just up from the main square, in all of the places we've been to, and all of the restaurants we've eaten in, I have never experienced such poor service, they even refused to bring us the bill because they had entertainment on and wanted us to stay. Through our meal the staff had stood at my shoulder with 2 young kids playing on my sons DS, the soup was awful, the food very very poor and the staff stood and stared the whole time. I really couldn't wait to get out!
Icmeler is ok, there are those who return year after year and enjoy it, and thats ok. We all have different preferences and wants, but I found it to be overpriced for the place that it was, that it was ok for the holiday that we had and we had a good time (most of it due to the people we met) but our best day was the day out by water taxi to Turunc from the Marina . . .about sums up our experience.
The resort is relatively clean however, plenty of dolmus and easy to navigate around the town, but if you’re looking for something which is traditional Turkey, then Icmeler is not the place and for that reason alone, we will not return to Icmeler through choice unless it was a VERY cheap deal.

The resort is lovely and this was our second yr in icmeler. I would highly reccommend sinbads in the old village the food was 10 out of 10 and the staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. There are many eateries to sample too many to list. The beach is nice but not suitable for my little one to build sandcastles!! Would definatley return ti icmeler and reccommend to friends and family.

Icmeler itself is clean and the people are very friendly, yes they do try to get you to visit their establishments and buy from them but a polite 'no thank you' was enough to prevent any hassle.
The beach is split into two due to the mouth of the canal and i preferred the right hand side (as you look at the sea) as it was less stoney / shingle. All of the restaurants around the canal and the beach serve excellent food.

Icmeler is a gorgeous resort full of pubs and restaurants - the staff of these places will ask you in but are not overly pushy and some have a no hassle policy which was nice. i loved the chicken casseroles, turkish breakfasts and the bread given to you at the start of each meal served in most places. we went on 2 boat trips and the aqua park, all were only 5/10 minute bus trips away and were fabulous days out - i recommend captain bullshits boat as he only takes no more than 35 people so it's not too crowded, in saying that we had a an amazing day with panorama princess which was busier but also great! it's worth going to different excursion booths to try and get the best price we went with rose and jimmy who gave us a great deal - they are just along from the blue fox restaurant who i highly recommend for a gorgeos meal! - i can honestly say we did not have a bad meal out, all the places are very good- just check the menus outside first to compare prices, often when your doing that the staff offer discounts and extras !!! can't wait to vist icmeler again soon !!
