We stayed in the new block which was excellent. It had three beds in one room with a shower and a large kitchen area with table and 6 chairs, a sandwich toaster, kettle and 2 rings. In the main bedroom was a double bed with a bathroom as well.

It was an excellent holiday for a family. We have been there twice now and will be going back next year too.

We arrived at 4am, and got put in a tiny, noisy room next to a bar which was still open at 5am, so not much sleep on the first night. Saw rep the next day who moved us to a slightly bigger room, away from the bars, but still not very clean. In the end we payed an extra

It was our first time in Turkey and it was amazing.

The hotel was very clean, cleaners in every day and they made the towels into different styles every day!! Flowers, birds etc.

Food was great for all types of palates.

Just 10mins walk from Marmaris main street.

Staff was very friendly and polite. The on site jewelers was very cheap and barbers were cheaper than anywhere else.

The nightly entertainment was great if travelling with kids.

Rooms were fitted with what we needed only the one wardrobe wasn

Beware if you are travelling with Cosmos and you get put in D block, having read some reviews regarding First Choice F block we decided to book through Cosmos. It was a bit dearer but was told rooms were either new or refurbished, well D block is going to be demolished at the end of the season, about 5 years late in my opinion.

There is water leaking from the roof 24/7 we had to change our rooms on 3 occasions due to unsafe rooms or water leaking from the ceilings.

The staff did their best to accommodate us and the rep even said it was a hell hole of a block. The complex itself was very good and the pools and slides are very good so well worth a visit but don

Do not go to these apartments unless you have a 100% guarantee that you will be in one of the new blocks. We were put in an adjacent run-down apartment block (Class Apartments) recently bought by the Portobello. It was a total dump and there were constant power and water cuts. It has it's own small - rarely cleaned - swimming pool but no toilets, showers or bar service. From what I gather the older blocks in the Portobello are not much better either.

The Portobello is handy for the beach, shops restuarants, etc but the area has a few undesirables hanging around late at night. We witnessed a security guard being attacked by a group of men, while we sat in our balcony.

The food is expensive and unappealing.

The staff are friendly as long as you don't complain.

Arrived early hours of the morning thought at first glance we had it good, the hotel looked fab, until we were taken to another reception area.

This was a bad start having to lug suitcases down a block of stairs and down past two swimming pools before getting there. We were allocated a room in C block, on the 3rd floor even though we requested a low floor.

On entering the room it looked quite clean until we took a closer look, there was hair in the shower, powder and cream on the floor and the shelves. We pulled back the bed covers, there we saw people's hairs in the sheets along with holes and stains.

It took us 4 days to actually get a cleaner in the room to clean it properly and give us clean sheets. A few days later we ended up infested with cockroaches, it took 2 days before somebody came to spray the room. We lived out of suitcases for a whole 2 week. We got moved block and room 3 times, never got asked to attend any evening entertainment, could never get a sunbed around any of the 5 pools they had.

My advice would be not to stay at Portobello unless you get assured you will be situated in a new block. This was our 5th time in Marmaris and have never had problems like this before.

We will return to Marmaris again, but not to these apartments.

The Portobello Apartments are, to be truthful, the best accommodation that we as a family have stayed in and believe me, we have stayed in some lovely hotels.

The instant reaction from myself was wow, as in a first impression, the hotel looked more like a 5* than a 3*.

After checking in (and after 20 minutes of admiring the view of 2 of the pools), we were escorted to our apartments. As a huge family, we had booked two apartments, next door to each other and on the ground floor, with a pool view - which we didn't get.

One room was on the 3rd floor (with a pool view) whilst the other was on the 4th floor (with no pool view), both in the new block. Putting the minor disappointments aside, the accommodation was very clean and very modern.

Overall the hotel is very class and many workers speak English - maids are very friendly and are very willing to help. Bar staff are very lively, friendly and have very good communications. They work very hard and are literally waiting on your foot, despite all the long hours.

The main bar is where all the entertainment is, which all quietens down about midnight.

During our stay, the small slide play thing in the children's pool, was falling apart, but thanks to the quick response of the bar staff, maintenance staff were quickly on the scene. The slide man/life guard, is very wary of the safety of users of the slides - rules are to be strictly abided by.

Entertainment is limited but the kids enjoyed the mini discos and the karaoke.

Personally, I didn't enjoy food out of the resort, so I continuously ate at the hotel restaurant - The food is very good and very cheap, considering.

The hotel has a computer room, where is costs 5 million liras (about

We arrived at 2am, we were given a ground floor room next to the play area and pool side bar, there was a lot of noise, as long as people are drinking the barman will serve, people often got abusive, as time went on, and would wake you up at 4am. This is classed as a family hotel, and normally the hotel bars close at 1am. We were very tired by the end of the holiday. The Thompson rep asked us to fill a complaint form in as the barman refused to close the bar at a respectable time.

The room was cleaned daily, but not to a very good standard, there were large gaps under the balcony door, so you might as well have your door open as to have it closed. No shelving in the storage spaces, had to live out of a suitcase, the shower leaked so the floor got flooded, had to be careful the children didn't slip and fall over. The fridge had not been cleaned for our arrival, and was very grubby.

The location of the hotel is excellent and the evening entertainment was great, children loved the pools, although we did see a lot of children fall over around the pool area (including myself) and pathways.

Food at the big fingers restaurant was excellent.

Ice-creams and lollies very expensive, we bought from the neighbouring supermarket at a 1/4 of the price.

I would visit again if I could guarantee a quieter and clean room.

This was the second time in two years that we went to the Portobello we have never had a better holiday. When we were driving to the hotel from the airport I saw all the other hotels and thought I hope my hotel isn't like this but when we got there I loved it. I made good friends.

The food is lovely, the staff were really funny and friendly it was in the perfect place as well i couldn't fault it at all. Even the cleaners came everyday and even though they didn't speak very good English they were really friendly and helpful
