Las Vegas, AKA Sin City, is approx 10 and a half hours on a non-stop flight from the UK, currently available with BA and Virgin from London and Virgin from Manchester.
There is so much more to Las Vegas than gambling. It is a foodie paradise with top class restaurants as well as cheaper options to suit every budget. The entertainment is also world class with everything from full production shows to one man comedy shows, magicians, hypnotists, ventriloquists, variety shows, tribute acts, headliners and the famous Cirque du Soleil productions.
Gambling caters for everyone from the low roller on penny slot machines to whales on the table games. Drinks are complimentary while gambling; just make sure to tip at least $1 per drink and you can order anything from cocktails to coffee.
The hotels are entertainment in themselves as they all have their own themes and attractions. Where else can you visit Paris, Egypt, Venice and Rome in the same day?
Must sees are the Bellagio fountains, especially at night, the Grand Canal at the Venetian where you can ride on a gondola. There are also thrill rides 1148ft above the ground on top of the Stratosphere tower and a roller coaster at the New York New York hotel.

If you can book a run of house room at a very reduced rate then I would recommend it as the rooms in the Bellagio all seem to be of a great quality.
Obviously, try and get a fountain view room to see the fabulous fountains that perform all the time to the crowds.

Make sure to visit the famous Ellis Island next door. Their steak specials are legendary. Food and drink is very cheap and mingle with the locals in their karaoke bar- I hate karaoke normally but this one is a lot of fun.

The first thing my friend who had already visited Las Vegas said to me when we got back was 'its not tacky is it' and i agree. I was thinking all sorts when i was reading about LV but there is an air of 'well looked after' and felt relatively safe. There is bus service just going up and down the strip to fremont street and back down to the luxor it costs $5 for 24 hours unlimited travel. Each hotel has somthing free to offer, like the fountains of the Bellagio and the spectacular monument that comes life in the Ceasars Palace shopping area. Well worth a look are the lounge entertainment we thoroughly enjoyed listening to a group in the Venetian for the price of drink, The Tropicana had a good group too. We went to see Tom Jones at the MGM unfortuantely we were 2 weeks too early to see Coldplay. This was a good night thoroughly enjoyed it we also went to see a magic show in the Tropicana and the Folies Bergeirs they were also brilliant. Whatch out for the free magazines they have vouchers for these shows and work out quite bargains, ie 2 for the price of one. The only thing really (and you get used to it) is that people are employed to hand out leaflets with escort girls on them but just say no thanks or just walk past. Las Vegas is not really a place for children there is very little for them to do, You have to be 21 to play in th casino and any one under 21 cannot stop to even look at something you have to keep to 'pathways' you cannot play the machines with a child in pram at the side of you. We went to the Grand Canyon with a tour company (booked through the luxor) called the Casino tours and were very good. A fantastic time with some wonderful memories and we will definitly visit again

Absolutely fabulous. It is not all about gambling as many people think. Try it you'll love it.

The steets were kept clean and 99% of people i saw used rubbish bins.
My big complaint is that there are small calling-cards and booklets every few feet and all over the pavement with half naked women on them!!
Loads of theme hotels and shows to see not much of a family place though

Las Vegas must be one of the craziest places on earth. There is always a buzz about the place and you can eat and drink 24/7.
In addition to the gambling there are loads of shows to see such as Celine Dion, Barry Manilow, Gladys Knight, We Will Rock You (which closes at the end of November), Mamma Mia, Legends in Concert, comedy magic shows and hypnotists.
There are also many free attractions such as the Bellagio fountains, Sirens at Treasure Island, the Volcano at Mirage, Big Elvis at the Barbary Coast, Purples Reign (a Prince tribute act) at the Monte Carlo.
The shoppping in Las Vegas is excellent with the Premium Oulets near Downtown and Las Vegas Outlet Center at the south of the strip. There is also Fashion Show Mall and Desert Passage on the strip and Boulevard Mall a short bus ride away.
When you are gambling, either on the slots or on the tables, you get comped (free) drinks for only the price of a $1 tip per drink.
Most of the hotels are themed such as New York New York, Luxor, Excalibur, Paris, etc and are worth visiting.
It is very easy to get around as the local CAT bus is only $2 per trip or $5 for a day pass and the busses come every 5-10 minutes. There is also the monorail which runs behind the hotels from the MGM Grand in the south to the Sahara in the North. It costs $3 per trip or you can buy a 10 trip ticket for $20.

LV is an unbelieveable place & I loved it. Everything is based off the strip & is larger than life.
Don't expect things to be cheap pint of beer is about £3, average meal for 2 about £50. So similar to most cities.
I did some great things while I was there including Elton John & a heli flight with lunch at Grand Canyon.
Do plenty of research, read the forums this will ensure that you have a good time. Loads to see & do.
A few tips.
The temp was in the 80's & I took too many nice evening clothes & never wore them clothes.
You will walk forever so take trainers & shorts, there is no real dress code, everything goes.. make sure you carry water around best place to buy is the large drugstores.
LV is not for children of any age.
Play the 1 cent slots slowly then tip the waitress $1 for your drinks, saves a few $$$.
Can't wait to return, better start saving.

Fabulous , loved it !!!!!!!!!!! Everyone will love this place but I did get sick of it after a week, would do two centre next time.
Would recommend to go see "we will rock you " , brilliant show, don't bother to go see the tigers an dolphins at the mirage hotel, what a waste of $15, total rip off.

This was our second visit to Las Vegas, stayed in Luxor first time. WOuld recommend either but all hotels on the strip are fab. Went to see Mamma Mia at the Mandalay Bay, was good but not as good as the show in New York.
LOts to see and do but prepare for the constant ringing in your ears from all the casinos. You can have fun on the slots without having to spend a lot of cash.
We visited in April and October and the weather was fanatastic on both occasions, would avoid July and August - too hot!
Happy gambling

There's no beach here, but you will never be bored or feel unsafe. Watch the Bellagio Fountains, The Mirage Volcano, and The Sirens' Show at Treasure Island, The Freemont Street Light Show, The Air Show at the Tropicana....they're all free and spectacular. The Shark Reef, Seigfreid and Roy's Secret Garden, The Stratosphere whiter- than- white- knuckle rides, Cirus Circus' Theme Park Rides, are just a few more places to visit(That's if you can drag yourself away from the beautiful hotels).Don't forget the Grand Canyon, and Hoover Dam trips too. Check out the Fire and Water display in Caesars Palace, and visit the Cheesecake Factory there - one slice and 2 forks is definitely enough! We have never visited a night time show because we just seem to be too busy all the time. We enjoy the slots, and some can cost as little as 1c per go...but we only ever take out with us what we can afford to lose.Drinks are free if you are gambling, just tip the Cocktail Waitress for all the walking about she does!
