1, read before we went that the food was "rubbish, slop, uneatable, cold, and chips with everything, it simply isnt true, the food was not the best i,ve had, but certainly wasnt the worst, there was many alternatives to chips,,,boiled potatoes, mashed potatoes sautied potatos, potato wedges, roast potatos, rice, pasta etc, etc. sometimes it is cold but this usually applied to the dishes that no one wanted (usually turkish, were not very adventurous the british are we ) the chips on the other hand were always hot ,cos they were constantly being replenished...cos everyone wanted chips.
the first day was windy and rainy, but definately not a hurricane.
there wasnt any waiting in line for the themed restaurants, in fact all the time we were there ( 2 weeks) i didnt see anyone book them, we booked for the spanish and indian unfortunately because of the "hurricane" the roof leaked and it was cancelled that night, we also booked for the indian but cancelled when we found out the food in the restaurant wasnt as bad as people were reporting.
the reps were very good at there job and went out of their way to help you. again what i had read was competely differant, incompetant, couldnt care less attitude, rude and unhelpful,, utter rubbish
didnt see one drunken teenager, and the parents who had their chidren with them must be complimented on the way their kids behaved, with one or two isolated exeptions.
get up at 5.30 to grab a sun lounger? not in september, any time of the day you could find them round the main pool, although for those going soon ,if you can find a mattress, guard it with your life ther must be 4 loungers to every mattress. people were taking them back to their rooms, and i have to admit so did we...their like gold
bad location? if you want to walk out of the gates and find karaoke bars, bingo, chubby brown only fools and horses on the telly, and lines of pound shops, then you should go to benidorm, if you want terrific scenery then come here, and if you doubt me when your there walk down to the beach bar on the palace side, then turn around and you will see this amazing complex surrounded on three sides by mountains that just take your breath away.
table and chairs would be better than the ampitheatre, not true ive been to hotels were they had tables and chairs and often you couldnt see the stage never mind the act, you dont get this problem here the seats are tired upwards so no matter were you sit you have an uninteruptted view of the stage, and it creates a much better atmosphere
now some facts....mosquitoes, a huge problem even first choice know this, we got a note under our door the first week saying they were spraying the rooms and the whole site to try to solve the problem.....it didnt work, my wife was bitten 56 times, i was lucky none the first week but they caught up with me the second week,we took candles sprays,a plug in devise, garlic tablets.....they dont work
the entertainment has got to be improved they try so hard but there not professionals...and for what you pay they should be, we did have a couple of female vocalists flown in and they were very good, as were the duo on the palace side, and there a quiz and karaoke most nights in the tropical beach bar, but it must be improved
the beach isnt good , however if you cross the bridge and go over to the beach were the hotel aldiana is you,ll see what i think this beach will look like in a year or two, clean sand, no stones, or bits of wood, although what they can do about that drop in the sea a few yards out i dont know. if i had children or i was a none swimmer i wouldnt go near it.
anyway thats about it... a few comments of my own...
for goodness sake, first choice, have dress code for dinner, i hate to see men who go to dinner in shorts and vests, full marks to the women at least they made an effort.
too many men in football shirts...leave them for the kids fellas
never have i seen so many tattooed men (and women) in my life, the prize for the naffiest tattoo was a close thing between one blonde man completely covered from his neck down to his toes, and the man with a large english badge tattooed on his left breast, and across his shoulders in sixh inch italics was ENGLAND with a couple of badges either side...oh and Sharron and Darren with tattoos again in six inch high italics on their shoulders, although sharons were a littls smaller.
topless sunbathing was rife beautiful women with hour glass figures i, quite enjoy taking a peep.....but women over 50 with boobs to match should look in the mirror before taking their tops off. keep them covered up girls i,m afraid you look awful.
so thats it would i come back here again? i,m afraid it must be no, when i go abroad i want to meet people of all nationalities, i,m told there were some dutch here but i never seen or heard any, it seemed to me wall to wall british, and the way some of them spoke to the turkish staff was nothing short of disgraceful, you felt like going up to them ( the turks) and apologising for being english, these sort of people dont belong abroad..they should be in a zoo, their manners belong in a zoo, although that may be an insult to the animals.
if you want any more info just ask.
hi black night ,your reveiw was spot on ,im glad it wasent just me who felt the same about food ect,,,i forgot to mention the beach i booked this holiday cause it said on a golden sandy beach, its not safe to swim in and there are no signs saying this and we agree about tattoes...lol we were told all the pegasus are being built for the english as they "want to keep us all together"""lol what does that say for the english...beach party was on our last night ,kids prob would have liked it but we wasent inpressed to much....
I like your style - think you have hit the nail on the head with some of your comments!! chubby brown etc
As you say some of the people did leave there manners at home and there was one or two isolated incidents of badly behaved teens when you were there - can you imagine what it was like in peak season??!! Oh dear me
Glad you had a good holiday though
Joolz
Black Knight....spot on with wall to wall english and no dress code in retsurants, we sat on WET chairs one night in our good clothes (not amused )
But there you go, you live and learn, never again, like most on here I like to feel like I am in another country.... not Blackpool in the sun
I saw it too - just feel sorry for the ones who had to put up with the landing antics of some teens
I would go back - when they put the prices up a bit ...
Joolz
i love going on holiday and my kids making friends with friends who they cant even speak to, it doesnt stop them and sure as heck stops them hearing swear words
boobs arent a problem until the ocupant starts to wander around with them and jump in the pool, by next year there will be topless eating in the restraunt if the dont get a dress code
and have anti histermine tablets for if youre mozzy bites swell up this is essentual................................ excuse spelling as im dyslexic cheers.
oh and one more thing if i ever here that b.....y awful song "follow the leader" ever again i wont be responsible for my actions, it makes the birdie song and macarena almost classical
follow my leader ,leader, leader, follow my leader!!!!!"ilove pegasus,Ilove first choice!!!!!!! lol oh and yes we were even doing the dance by the end of week........and we dont have kids!!!!!!! for those who have been they know what im on about, for those to go ,its the pegasus dance and YOU WILL LEARN IT!!!!LOL its sung everyday loads of times!!!!!
the best of the three was the 12 island cruise we went into sarigerme to book this, lovely day out, they dont take you anywhere in particular just sail around all day stopping here and there to have a swim in the bluest water you have ever seen, then have lunch on board...be careful of the "stop me and buy one" ice cream salesman and his boat, 5 lira for a cornetto, theres no drink included in this but its a good trip, and we actually met and talked with people from, italy...germany...france.
we left at 9 am and didnt get back till almost 7 pm
the third was the dalyan mud trip, i,d read a lot about this and how good it was, but i was dissapointed, not a bit like i thought it would be, again we booked this in sarigerme,i think maybe it would have been better booking it through the reps, ther wasnt many on our boat and i think you need a lot of people to enjoy this, but if you do this one take an extra cossie with you ...that damned mud gets everywhere!!!!!!!!
we didnt go on the jeep safari but i was told by a few people it was well worth the money.
i think if youve got no kids the family cruise is definately one to avoid, i think its face painting etc, and its aimed at the kids.
lilacbunnykins that bloody song is not sung loads of times...its sung millions of times, everywhere you go it follows you round like a turkish gold salesman, if i ever have a nightmare you can bet that song will be in it somewhere. hopefully i will live whatever time i have left on this planet without ever having to here it again....but why do i have this feeling that there singing it in spain too, i can hear it now WE LOVE RIO PARK, WE LOVE THOMAS COOK, and i,m sorry people you cant escape it they have so many speakers ,and there turned up full volume
what these wonderful turkish people must think of the british i dont know, when my wife gave the cleaning lady her tip before we left she put her arms around my wife and gave her a big kiss,it was one of the nicest things i,d seen in a long time, that will stay with me long after this holiday has been forgotten.
like i said sometimes you feel ashamed to be the same nationality as these morons who give our country such a bad name.
Several times my Huby and I longed to be able to speak another language so that we could pretend not to be british, how sad is that, I am usually proud of who I am and where I come from but those few (and I must stress just a few) made me ashamed at times to speak the language I am so proud of
As for boobs.... I am a topless sunbather, I am in my 30's BUT i do not venture away from the confines of my sunbed without my top, certainly wouldn't dream of getting into the pool, going to loo and heavens above getting food/drink from the bar... but we too witnessed all this, yes boobs hanging in the cheese toasties around the pool snack bar some people have got no respect for themselves so how the hell do you expect them to have any for anyone one else
the mind boggles and the boobs will dangle for ever more........
God Bless Great Britain
sorry briar but if these posts encourage even one person to remember how to behave surely we have achieved something here.
Not posted on here for ages but i do check in from time to time to see how things are going out there. (i need to know for work )
It does seem that on the whole most of the problems and gripes we had while we were there back in July have been sorted. someone has listened with regards to the evening entertainment because we never had any outside acts brought in during our two weeks there, however, the other changes i know will be simply down to a massive reduction in the number of guests staying there during September and October. I guess the queues for the themed restaurants etc will happen again during the months of July and August! and as for the mattresses for the sunloungers, come on FIRST CHOICE get your hands in your pockets and buy some more!!!!
I also think the small minority of people who spoiled our holidays wont be able to afford it soon....so that should stop that problem too.
Glad you have had really good holidays those of you who have just come back
theberrybrooks
A couple we spoke to whilst there said they would have loved to come back next year as it was great for there kids, but it has gone up by a £1,000!!!!! and they would not be able to afford this, they def need to sort air condit out in games rooms and bowling alley, its very hot in both of them...when we arrived in our room we did not have an airer(most rooms had theses on there balconies,so we asked the reps was it hidden in a cuboard somewhere,as there were so many cuboards in our room,)when we came back to room in evening one had been screwed to our patio wall, brilliant service we thought..if you can have your photos done by the on site photographer,we had 15 pictueres took of us (as wanted some nice honeymoon ones)they were superb, they were doing buy 5 and get one 3 but that one was blown up,we eneded up getting 12 and all it cost was £40!!!a great bargain,oh there was a few stray kittens in the ground, which all us english were feeding,typical...but they were cute...the entertainment staff were great and worked realy hard, and like otheres have said i think by next year the hotel will be brilliant,oh and the entertainers were being flown in from england had a very funny comedion, they are not top class but they are good and better then sitting playing cards all night!!!!1
Penny123, Joolz 307 & Black Knight, Thanks for the info re: trips
Saying that we did spend time in both sides and would still recommend the holiday.
We just preffered the quieter aspect of the tropical for most things.
Pools excellent.
Entertainment excellent.
Hotel gorgeous.
Hotel staff excellent.
First choice reps -some good, some ok, some damn right irritating but not rude.
Follow the leader, leader leader, fol-----oops sorry!!!
Kids clubs they're best we've seen although they had started to reduce activities and were offerring fewer choicer and not every evening.
You must try the high ropes. The kids loved it.
Food variable, always an excellent choice, always spoilt by moaners--my favorite ones being on a Tuesday when --heaven forbid---they did not have chips----We heard stories of starving children, law suits against first choice, very unsavory comments about the turkish chefs,we were even privvy to a conversation about the fact that when chips were offerred they were the 'wrong size!!!!!!!!!!!!'For gods sake people yopu were in Turkey, yet if chips, nuggets, etc were not on the menu all hell broke loose. My son is a fussy eater, he was upset by this also but my view is this is the best time to try other things, either go hungry(for a few hours!!!!)or eat.
Salads,wraps, kebabs,breads soups, desserts all A+
I truly believe that if the turkish chefs had not had to struggle with the likes and dislikes of their english guests there would have been more time for some really excellent turkish or international cuisine.
We had a jacuzzi suite at Tropical which was lovely.I wanted to bring the bath home.Take cheap nappy sacks for toilets,we found this the best solution.Cleaners excellent.Had wine and fruit on arrival.
Went on four trips
jeep safari---fabulous
mud bath--good
family cruise--fabulous
Marmaris--make your own way unless you want to spend half the day looking at gold and carpets at First choice sponsored places.
Any questions please ask.
I would definately go again in a few years
Hi Lilacbunnykins,The reason the holiday has gone up so much is because last year they where giving free child places, and now they are not giving free child places until the 1st of Sept, we paid £1800 for 3 adults and1child,i always book from 1st addition as it is always the cheapest, we are looking to book with Thompsons next year £2150 for 3Adults and 1 child as the child ageis 14, its a shame that the rif raf who went here has to spoil it for evaryone else, what it needs is the hotel and FC to set out some rules, dresscode, behavour of dults teenagers andsome young children, it was a free for all do as you want out their, i saw young children throwing stones, the plastic beakers in bushes, their parents letting them get their own dinner and most of it landed on the floor, getting their own drinks, poeplewalking out of the restarant across the flowers and grass, i wonder if most of these people behave like this at home.
