CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THEY ARE STILL MAKING FRESH PANCAKES IN THE BROWN TENTS NEAR THE POOLS, REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO THEM
*Edit - Please do not post with your caps lock on - Glynis HT Admin*
yes they are, lovely too and you don't have to pay for them, just a tip which is nice gesture to them
mmm yes the pancakes were yummy, you have to try them, although we did not realise they were free for a couple of days....there does not seem to be enough information about whats available in the hotels....
They were free whilst we were there in July/August but were that popular after the first couple of days, that the tip boxes soon appeared and were always overflowing with change and notes by close of play.
As regard to the beach, what you have to remember is that it is a HUGE beach. The beach itself is part scrub and part course sand. Any attempt to cover this in "Golden Sand" will be a massive operation. Possible...yes. But feasible, no.
Then FC should think long and hard about what they put in their marketing blurb then really.
totally agree there barnio
like i said in an earlier post, if you went to the hotel aldiana beach, you can see what this beach will look like in the future, but it will still be a danger to non swimmers
Likewise black knight, in a much earlier post I wrote that I saw a girl of about 12 years old having to be helped back by 2 adults from only 4 or 5 yards out. She was swimming hard but going nowhere and it could have been quite serious if the 2 guys hadn't gone in 2 help her back. FC can make a beach but only nature can sort out the current so I don't think it will be safe for anybody for swimming really.
Also re adaptor plugs, do you need european or american. What voltage for hairdryers etc.
With mossies, we are staying in a kids den, do you think we need a plug in repellent in childrens and adults room or will one be enough.
.... they will get you. The one thing that does work to take away the irratation is to use "Scholls athlete foot cream" In desperation one night my wife tried it, and it works. So happy scratching !!!!
re the beach,i actully booked this holiday because of the description of the beach, and was promised the "problems with it"were sorted for when i went out there!! which clearly they have not been,,as for mossies we had plug ins and still got them in room,i used boots mossi gel,was horrible and sticky but did stop me from getting bitten, used wipes too but they were crap!!!!and got bitten with them...
i would imagine the problems with bathing in the sea are the same at the aldiana as it is at the pegasus, although the beach is ten times better i wouldnt worry too much though the pools are out of this world, and on the times we went to the beach there were very few people there.
plugs are european, and i think hairdryers are in every room, at least they were in the jaccuzzi suites.
theres also a scart plug socket at the back of the telly so you can take a dvd player or gameboys etc to play
here is my promised report on the hotels
i agree completely with elmo but will add a little more, the place is fantastic as mentioned earlier we had no problems found staff to be courteous, complex spotless and only complaints were mossies - all baby ones i think so spraying had taken place recently - and other guests -particularly the large southern group who spent the whole time swearing at their children and being sworn back at by them, particularly 'cameron' who despite being about aged 2 loved to call his mother an effing bit*h - yes you know who you are and you are named and shamed!
anyway onto the pleasant stuff, please do not worry about this holiday,
the food is a bit touch and go but perfectly edible and lots of choice , for a change try the theme restaurants they are very good! the chefs do try to please the 'i want british grub' crowd and that seems to be were the complaints lie as the turkish take on roast beef and yorkshire pud is strange to say the least but if you want that eat it here! we were a group of five and never went hungry - it's impossible to, and also up to now our bowels are all in working order for the first time ever in a post holiday situation!
the beach foam party is still taking place and was brilliant, fireworks, bonfire, flowing beer and spirits - not weak either - jacket potatoes and cheese being served, a singer doing blues brothers beach games such as limbo then the big moment the foam that flowed for about 45 minutes until everyone involved looked like giant marshmallows! a night we will never forget!!
the beach is as mentioned still a dark colour and not that impressive but nowhere near as bad as i'd imagined it to be. watersports on the beach we found to be quite expensive so gave them a miss this year (35 pound for parascending - we paid 12.50 in tunisia last year)
the complex is huge so do explore or you will miss out we visited the beach bar which had karaoke most nights there was the daytime snackbar that had big screen sports on a night, the pool bar at palace with the duo mentioned earlier, bars within the hotel which we didn't bother with, a bar at tropical which just had music playing and the two entertainment amphitheatres that we flitted between, they had the mini disco, bingo then acts such as robbie williams tribute, a rather blue comedian - we left that night he seemed funny but too adult for the kids - shows such as grease and a pantomine type thing called tickledom. on the flight home a couple were complaining that there was nothing for kids to do on a night and they had been playing football around the pool bar they said that first choice should sort this out but at the time time fc had the tickledom pantomine showing in the amphitheatre but the parents couldn't be bothered to leave the bar to take them there.
to be honest we heard lots of complaints from people about food and entertainment but our 3 kids were kept happy 95% of the time. the kids clubs were great, they did raft building, canoes, water ball games, the only place my kids didn't like was the games room inside the hotel as it seemed to be full of mouthy teenagers on the pull.
we went on the dalyan trip that we booked in the village - £45 for 5 of us, half the price of first choice - this was a brilliant day out it included a boat trip to the mud baths, lunch and a trip past the mountain tombs to turtle beach, definately reccomended.
another nice touch that the hotel organised was a market on the tuesday night, stalls were set out at both palace and tropical - more at tropical - so you could actually never leave the complex if you didn't want to, however we went to the sunday market in sarigerme anyway, i quite liked sarigerme it was tiny but the people very welcoming and we were offered cold apple tea in ever other shop, the staff were never too pushy though and just seemed to enjoy a chat.
on a whole we had a brilliant week and only wish we had booked two as we didn't want to come home, the staff went out of the way to make this holiday special and i have to admit it will take something special to beat this holiday as i can honestly say we had the best holiday of our lives!
Its great to read so many positive things - I really think this place will be a favourable place to holiday for us all in the future.
I can certainly see a great demand for it within the next few years.
Well done First Choice.
One thing i want to know is Kerry (the rep) pregnant with Nick's child or was that just a rumour when we were there?
And is Deano still as mad as ever?
Deano is mental...lol they did grease and he came on as one of the girls, felt sorry for them ,they were promised loads of equipment for the shows and they eneded up sharing mics...but was good anyway..
Lilac, I must have been there at the same time because the Grease show went bad big style with the mic's and sound system playing up. They did a great job in pulling it round though and it ended up being very funny indeed. Well done to the reps on that night. Oh and one thing is for sure, Deano won't be the father of Kerrys baby thats for sure.
barnio i definatly think not about him being the daddy...lol ..he was definatly a charachter,he was saying to us that they get fed up struggling with stuff they have and he wished first choice would give out a list to everyone when they turn up ,with everything that is on...as we were saying we had missed a lot of stuff cause did not know where it was...and he said ppl moan to them as well..
We are due to fly out to the palace on the 15th and have been advised by our nurse to take Malaria tablets although these are not mandontory. Has anyone else been advised to take these??
PM us if you will be at the Palace between the 15th - 29th October and we can meet for a drink
Thanks
Sarah
During our very pleasant stay at PP neither myself, husband or daughter picked up any of the infections (ear, throat or stomach), nor suffered any type of injury however I did have a nasty cough the second week of our stay which i put down to the air conditioning, unfortunately it is still with me as it turned into a chest infection. I have had to have a week off work. My husband was has been very poorly since we returned with a viral infection that at one stage we thought to be malaria, he couldn't move out of bed for over a week and lost a stone in weight, he had a very high temperature (for which he was nearly hospitalised) although he felt freezing cold to the point his teeth were chattering but he was sweating so much at times I had to change the bed about 5 times in one night, the doctor said it was definately a viral infection he brought back from turkey, he did get bitten by mossies quite a bit one night whilst we ate in the italian restaurant as it is out doors. It probably wasn't malaria but I wish now we'd taken malaria tablets and would take them if I went to Turkey again. This viral infection could have been very dangerous in children or the elderly. He is recovering now but it hit him for six, he is normally very fit and healthy and is never ill. My advice would be if you are advised to take malaria tablets take just to be on the safe side.
