Hi,
We have finally narrowed our holiday choice down to two places, pegasus palace in Turkey and Sun Tropical Holiday Village In Turkey, but cannot make our mind up which one to choose! Both are all inclusive from first choice and seem like they cater well for children and families.

We have 2 sons aged 7 and 2, and the 7 yr old is really keen on going to Pegasus Palace because of the water slides and also the playstations in the rooms. However my husband is not keen on staying in an A/I complex every night and day and likes to go out for a change of scene at times which is something we could not do in Turkey, but could in Lanzarote as the village is in a central location.
The Pegasus Palace does look a lovely hotel though with plenty to do for the children, but I am not sure how the youngest son would fare there. I have also read some reports that it can get quite rowdy around the pool, which I can accept, but has put me off a little. I would welcome any advice from anyone who has been to either of these two hotels, to help me make up my mind!
thanks in advance

Hi Jammie :)

We are going to both. We're of to The Sun Tropical for a week in May and then The Palace for a week in September.

My first choice was The palace which we had originaly booked for May but we changed it to The Sun Tropical beacause friends we are going with got cold feet after last years bad reviews.
When the teething problems were ironed out and the good reports started coming back we rebooked for September for just our family.
I was drawn more to The Palace because of the waterslides, the fantastic reviews of the kids clubs, the beach party and the fact that its all new and plush.
Saying this though I wouldn't book it for a 2 week holiday as I wouldn't like to be restricted to the hotel for entertainment and meals for that long.

I think they will be two very different holidays because one is all inclusive and the other isn't so you get to eat out and about more.
At The Sun Tropical they've got some great family excursions on offer (Submarine ride, Rancho Texas, Waterpark, Volcanos and camel rides), my boys will be 4 & 2 and they'll love all this.

It also depends if the beach and swimming in the sea is important to you.
Playa Blanca has a beautiful beach and safe waters where as Sarigerme doesn't.

I think if I were booking a 2 week holiday I would go for The Sun Tropical if its only for a week I'd go with The Palace.

When are you thinking of going ?
Reply
Hi I personally would say go to Sun Tropical...while Turkey is a lovely Country to visit I personally feel there is better parts than Sarigerme. Maybe in a few years when the place has built up a bit, but for now the village is very small and quaint and quite charming but it isn't an everynight thing, and you can't really walk there safely (not with 2 children in my opinion anyway)

PP is very remote and if you get there and don't like it you will be stuck.

If the Sun Tropical is another First Choice Holiday Village it will be very similar in what it provides in the way of entertainment and activities for the children anyway. Also, depending on when you are thinking of going, you should consider the Temp's...we were ther in July and it was hitting 50 degrees in the daytime!!! (too hot for me!!)

Also at the PP, even if they have done the beach this year you will still have to consider the sudden shelve in the water...this isn't safe for small children, it drops quite suddenly and there can be some strong currents as well. There is another beach which is quite nice, but it does involve a taxi/dolmus (something to consider, again, with small children)

The Mozzies were quite bad last year, some will say they weren't a problem but i think most did find it a huge bug bear throughout their stay. It is built on a swamp/river and there is still a lot od building work ongoing in the area (more hotels and a golf course I do believe) so this could disturb the nest maybe!!! (another consideration)

Well there you go, my opinion, I will wait to be shot down in flames now

I am sure you will have a good holiday whatever you decide :wave

Hi Jammie,

I have not been to the Sun Tropical so cant comment really but it does sound like there is a great deal more to do in the immediate area than the PP.

I also cant comment on the beach at the PP even though we stayed there  we couldnt get the kids to go - they didnt want to leave the slides or the kids clubs for that matter!!

The kids clubs do offer fantastic entertainment - from canoeing to rope climbing - and our parties kids were begging every morning for it to open so they could go - something that has never happened before. :D

We did go on day trips - booked in the town - not through First Choice and they were great value - but the town itself is tiny - about 20 shops and a few bars and restaurants. :?

Its so hard to decide - we spent a full week trawling through brochures for this years holiday - we dont like to go back to the same place - and the choices are becoming fewer as we have done quite a few now!

Many thanks for all your replies - it has been really helpful to listen to the advice of others. We were hoping to go just for one week around June time, so if we did choose Turkey, the weather should be okay then.
The Lanzarote hotel certainly does sound better located with lots of family trips and things to do in the area. However, the reports from Turkey are also quite good, and I do really like the look of the waterslides etc.
Have priced both holidays up and Turkey comes out about £300 cheaper, although this is not really a factor with us, as would always pay more if the holiday looked good.
It is so hard to make up our minds, maybe we should have a week in each and then decide!
We originally booked Bulgaria with first choice, but was told last week that our holiday has been cancelled due to them not flying from Norwich as planned. They are waiting for us to make our minds up where to change to and I keep telling them we will know for sure tomorrow but so far have not come to a decision!
I think possible the Sun Village Lanzarote may be better for youngest son, but oldest is adamant that he wants to go to the hotel with the big waterslides! You just can't win!

Thanks again, and will try to decide very soon!

to jammie the main thing i noticed in your post, was that your husband likes a change of scenery instead of staying "on site" well there aint nothing outside of the site......nothing at all. we were there in september, i thought the first week was ok, but dear god the second week was torture, at the end of the 2nd week i was praying for that plane to take me home.

as ive said on here before your kids will love it, but your husband will loathe it....my advice, for what its worth, go somewhere where you will all enjoy it, theres enough places out there

Hi we had a fab time at the PP, and our kids aged 14 and 8 at the time loved it, and said it was their best ever holiday.

for us, a week there would have been enough, as there simply was not enough to do out side the complex, and we thought the evening entertainment was awful. Everything else was great however, I was one of a few people who thought the beach was ok, but i had to go it alone, cos the kids wouldnt leave the pool and slides at all!! I quite enjoyed sitting on the beach with my book for company, away from the noise and hustle and bustle, and hardly anyone used the beach, so for me it was a lovely quiet sanctuary!!

If you are only going for 1 week it would be fine. Our kids begged us to rebook for this year, but however much they loved it we wouldnt go back for 2 weeks again. Maybe in the future we may do another week there. :D
Good luck with wherever you decide upon, cant comment on Lanzarote, because we havent stayed there, but we did go on a day trip there about 4 years ago from Fuerteventura and hated it, it was very Blackpool by the sea, which Turkey certainly isnt!
It all comes down to personal taste.!!

Yes I know most of us save up all year for our two weeks in the sun, and we want it to be as perfect as it can.
These forums are ideal to get a general feel of a resort or hotel.
But its all about opinions!
One persons food and drink is another ones poison.
I have been AI to Turkey before and stayed in Side. we had a wonderful family holiday. Had I listened to the posts on this forum I would not have gone and would have missed out on a great hotel. ( in my opinion )
So to all you going to the Pegasos - and I am one of them - stop getting stressed out and look forward to your holiday. :D :D :D

Hello
We a family of 4 fly out to PP on the 28th Sept this year for 2 weeks

I was wondering if any people had any information of the layout of the kids dens?
If you have to pay a deposit on the playstation 2 and if the answer is yes how do they prefer the deposit ?

Also how much is the deposit ?

Are the kids dens spread all over complex, and what floor level are they on Top Middle or Bottom ohhh I sound like Micheal Barrymore

Thanks

Barnsley crew ....... Great mindset there. Positive attitude always helps.
I went to the PP last Sept and had a wonderful time. The food, as you point out may not be to everyones taste, but you will never go hungry. Just the salads will keep you nourished. The place is a little out of the way, but hey your on holday, in a good class hotel. go get a coke and lie by the pool !!!!! And......there are lots of pools to choose from. I did
find the evening entertainment a little amateur, but there was a duo singing by the pool bar of an evening, and they were fabulous. As previously pointed out, there were some people there whose behaviour did leave a lot to be desired. If you encounter them, just move away, the place is big enough. Waiters and bar staff are all very pleasant and helpful, all in all I had a great time, so will you with that attitude ....
Enjoy

nice post elmo, and i agree the duo were good and the pools are out of this world, and we found the food ok...but a little out of the way???, this hotel is a country mile out of the way, anyone looking for something to do in the evening outside of the complex can forget it, there just isnt anywhere to go, you are at the mercy of their "entertainment" and the last thing i want to do in the evenings wnen i,m on holiday is to lie by a pool drinking coke
