We had another great holiday in Altinkum,as we have been there before.The Tuntas Hotel is located on the corner of second beach,and is only about 100yards past our hotel The Orion.As we were on half board we didnt eat out at night as the hotel meals were ok and a large efes was only 3.5 lira which was really good for a hotel.During the daywe ate at the Asia Minor Restaurant which is just next to the Orion on the side road to the beach and found this to be excellent.The main nightllife in Altinkum is about a mile away around Dolphin Square,but you can get a dolmus near to the hotel and they are very cheap and it will take you right to the heart of the enterainment.
A lot of nights we just walked there as there is a promenade type road,which houses many bars and restaurants along the way.The prices vary,usually depending on how close to the beach you are ,or wether they have boy dancers come waiters in music bars.These tend to be the most expensive ones,although having said that,most places were cheaper or as cheap as England.The best tip i can give you really is justto try the places that you feel look ok to you,as its usually a case of trial and error with us when we go anywhere,but you always end up finding your favourites

im going to altinkum next friday for the first time i have been going to marmaris for the last 12 years so me and the wife thought we have a change im going for 2 weeks you will really enjoy turkey the people are friendly good food and the turkish people talk to you have a conversation with you and they are really helpful ; i see criuse controller as been giving you some helpful tips you wont go far wrong with cruise he is really helpful im staying at the tuntas hotel , when is it you go in october .

we went to altinkum last year,for the 1st time.our step son,flew out to meet us & stayed at the royal marina.i was really impressed,with the complex,so much so,we have booked to stay there ourselves,next year.
it is a very clean & well kept complex,with 2 pools.there is a little bar,which serves food as well.
it is a little walk,down to dolphin square,but we don't mind that.maybe 10 mins?
it is a relatively new complex,so don't think,you will have a problem,with your apartment.our step sons,was spot on,could not fault it,at all.

Hi Tony and Tracy, thanks for the replies. We're going the first week in October. I can't wait! Yes cruise controller has indeed been helping me out with tons of useful info. I tell you what guys, if the people of Turkey are as warm and friendly as the people on this forum, I am going to have a blast!

Have a great time in Altinkum. I am sure you will love it there. We first went to Altinkum about 16/17 years ago when it was much quieter and not that well known and absolutely loved this little resort. Have been back a few times since then and feel amazed at how it has grown in size. Its a total contrast to Marmaris.

I particularly loved Dolphin Square which just came alive at night. Lots of nice restaurants/bars there. You have a choice of 3 beaches. The main beach does get very busy but we used to go to the third beach. Infact I noticed you are staying at the Tuntas (2nd beach) so 3rd beach is away at the opposite end.

Loved everything about the place, beaches, boat trips, restaurants, people......

Sure you will enjoy it.

Hi Joshman, We stayed at the Royal Marina in June this year it really was lovely. It was very quite not many people there at that time so loads of sunbeds space etc. We ate a couple of tmes at the little bar there it was very nice and the guys there are so funn(and vain.) Just acroos the road is a little supermarket for bread milk etc and about 10 mins up the road is third beach, easily walk it but if you go to reception they ring for a courtesy bus for you. Dolphin sq is bout 10-15mins the other way the road down wasnt done when we were there so quite dusty and uneven ..(no high heels for me) also quite dark the last bit walking back (advise take a small torch.) you can get a taxi tho from the sq . any questions pm me if you like

just back and had a great holiday the beach was clean ,the shopping excellant, the funda resturant had great sausage butty's with homemade chips (brill) . if you want a laugh go to pinoccio's.we were cental to everything right across from the didym shopping center . got caught in the torrential rain on the wed night 8 girls running down the sreet with carrier bags on our heads did'nt think we would get reconised but we did as we found out the next day walking by the bars .
loved the place and great for a girls holiday

me and my wife got caught in the storm it lasted 2 days of our 2nd week we ended up in the toy bar then we had a power cut for half hour , the manager of the toy bar kindly gave us a lift back to our hotel ,that goes to show how friendly the turkish are, now we are saving up for next year marmaris in june 2009 booked flight last june
