The Scottish surgeries are definitely suspended for now. Where did you try Billy?
On another note- I like the way they tell you not to make travel arrangements until after you get your visa and yet you are supposed to give them the name of the accomodation you are staying at
the fee is the same as if you were doing a postal plus a charity donation of £10 giving a total of £50.
every time i have used this surgery for visa's you have to make a donation of £10 to their charity.
they do your application online for you via VSF global.
they told me the two Indian referee's are /can be the hotel and the hotel manager or anyone you may know over there.
it save one hell of a hassle.
yes i noticed they have recently added that about not arranging your travel arrangments before hand.....

Yes, I thought that. I suppose 'they' need information to track you down in any emergency. When I booked weeks for timeshare I now need to supply photographs when I check in. No big deal if it helps security.
This still doesn't alter the fact that the online process has not been thought out and implemented very well. But that seems to be the case with a lot of IT projects these days.
Just because I have managed to get through the online process to get a printed application form does not cancel out any problems with the next stage when actually making a visit to the issuing office.
Ok, thanks for all the info Neil, thats great. I will decide later in the year what my best options are. Although we are going at the end of November we are also going back on 26 March - returning to the UK on Good Friday, think the 10th April, so I cant apply for my Visa until about 10th October so its valid for the full six months. However, Neil I do agree, its best to apply as soon as possible, because it will become chaotic when the Goa holiday season kicks in.
On another note what; do you do if you don't have a PC or like my mum have no idea how to use the internet?
I have heard that they want to attract more higher class people to Goa, and maybe this is one of their tactics.
This new way of obtaining visas is definetly making it harder for people who do not know their parents names, i know a few people who didnt put their fathers name down on the visa form, and it was accepted. But this is not the case for this year.
The visa is for India, not for Goa and there must be many people who travel to India without even seeing Goa. I think it is something to do with their love of red tape (which is a legacy from the British). As others have said, there is no way they can check on whether the information is correct (except for that which has to match the passport) so I believe you can make certain parts up (which does make it a nonsense, but there you are).
Im not quite sure of the story, but i definetly remember someone said something along those lines.
I would hope that if you book a package your TO should be able to provide the names of referees and also the postcode of the accomodation. They will really have to if they want bookings.
With regard to postcodes I have 2 full postal addresses of friends in Goa, one lives in Moira which is near Mapusa and the postcode is 403514, and a second who lives in Baga and the code is 403516.
They certainly don't seem as exact as our postcodes, as they are very close numbers but quite a distance apart.
I've found another Sita Travel Head office in Panjim is 403001, and another Calangute is 403516, same as Baga.
The Kingstork is 403516 Fiona. The Sun Village ,Arpora is 403518. Candolim is 403515.
Note they sometimes written as 403 518, I don't know how it appears on the application form.
I hope that will help if you are looking for postcodes.
Regards
I wonder if we should have a thread where folks can put down full addresses of hotels? This might be helpful.
Sounds like a good idea, include email and telephone numbers and of course postcodes. Could be very useful.
this is what we'll do.
I'll set up a thread for full address of hotels, including post codes and phone numbers. Emails will be handy to have there. It will be a locked thread so it will be purely an info one. Anyone who has addresses they can give please pm me with them and I will add them.( if I dont make it a locked one it may go off track- this way it will be easy to access the information)
Well after visiting Goa 9 times in the last 10 years,I was thinking about trying the Red Sea next time. Now that I have read this thread.I think the Indian Government has made my mind up for me.Not content with making it difficult to visit their country, they go and make harder fo everyone. I am sure there are many countries who will be only too delighted to accept my hard earned cash. So sadly I will not be returning until or if they grant a visa on entry (they were talking about it back in 1998) so I dont suppose it will be any time soon.
The next bit that was getting me flumoxed was name of sponsor! Crikey all I want to do is go on holiday for 2 weeks, not gain work there, it's a tourist visa after all. It would be easier if you could see all the way to end of the form, as I presume that this part is the name of a referree, i.e. friend in India.
Still I didn't have to worry any longer as my computer was obviously just as confused as me and decided to crash in the middle!
I'll try again later.
Does anyone have a copy of the online application form. I don't want to fill it in until the time is right, and it would be nice to be prepared.
Does anyone have a copy of the online application form
The online application is NOT downloadable , since the information is stored as you progress through it.
The only way you can be prepared is keep checking here for any new info'.
When you complete the form do you not download a copy for your own use.If so could you use this minus your personal details
Thanks
Roma produced an excellent guide to filling up the visas last season which I've sadly had to remove for now. Hopefully we can produce an updated guide once a few have gone through it all.
Can I take it that its basically the same form as normal ?
Thanks for that Neil
