Love your photos Neil, thanks for sharing
I have trawled the internet for postcodes and addresses to make sure that everything is correct as it can be
My honest belief was that once it is put in the system next year it will only be a case of amending dates of travel ect
When i hit the submit button everything went blank, and returned to the home page
I have tried to resubmit the information again but it recognises my passport number, Whn i try to log in to amend my information it asks for a web reference that i did not give me.
Spent two hours on the phone listening to the engaged tone, I have emailed but after reading the forum i dont hold out much of an answer.
Any suggestions.

I went in to the VIS office in Edinburgh today with my completed 'e' form.
I spoke to someone in the queue that had a similar problem to yours, the system crashed half way through completion.
Download the PDF form and fill it in by hand, the system will still have your name and passport number logged. Tell the assistant this when applying in person THEY WILL CHECK.
Please note that they will not take hand written applications on PDF, I asked and was told that they will send you to an Internet cafe next door. So if you think you can just fill in the form by hand and appear with it.... YOU CANNOT.
Also I was told two to three days so it is best to track your application on line so you are not wasting your time. I was told Thursday PM then 'maybe it's better coming in on Friday'. So CHECK ONLINE

By this I meant if you just fill in the downloadable form and appear with it in person. They will only do this in EXCEPTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCES ie: system crash online.
they told me to track it online and it would retrieve the web reference i needed to amend it online.
To cut a long story short, my details have not been saved but i can input them again.
Its not ideal but there is no rush to get my visa processed, at present
all i was doing this morning was inputting the data for a november postal application with the intention of retrieving everything when needed.
Panic Over (for the moment)

So anyone who doesn't have a computer will need to find someone who has? My in-laws would normally apply for their own visas and if pointed to the internet cafe next door wouldn't be any the wiser as they have never used a computer in their lives. Seems a bit inflexible.
And I thought the HCI were bureaucratic.

Yes, i told them my friend who is travelling with me does not have access to the internet. Can he fiil in a form. NO
I did wonder about this, but couldn't believe that any organisation would be so stupid !!!!
Don't think I'll bother!
Next year............????????????
Plenty of places that don't give this hassle, maybe try one of those instead.
Anyone from the Indian High Commission reading this forum?
I tried to email last year not to one embassy but them "all" and did not get one reply so it don't surprise me you haven't had a reply.
I can honestly see big problems ahead with this visa application system and if enough people kick up (but to whom I don't know, no good to the HCI if they don't answer) they will have to do something about it.
As I stated on an earlier post I am now on the brink of pulling the plug and going somewhere else (and I don't think I will be the only one), maybe this is what they want, I bet the Russians don't have this much hassle, two years now on the trot we have had to put up with some kind of disruption, "what just what" are these officials about?...jxk8

I did the same- I don't know why I bothered this year.
Fiona, can we put this latest info on a new thread with a heading of "Latest Visa Info" as some of our HT'ers may not tune in on this thread regularly....jxk8
I just cannot believe all this i have only just read this because i saw something on a new thread Fiona had set up about 'visa's' so bobbed back here...its unbelievable!!!
chilly
I have tried to highlight by altering the title and also an announcement at the top of the forum.
chilly
Still I didn't have to worry any longer as my computer was obviously just as confused as me and decided to crash in the middle!
just sitting here alone, and that has just had me cracking up out loud!!! sorry not making light of things

From my experiences so far I would not like AT PRESENT to try and submit an application for a POSTAL visa. It is obvious the online system does crash and leave the applicant in no mans land. We can live in hope that this is rectified soon. When I tried I had to wait 5 mins for a page to load and was going to stop..... DON'T do this! Wait however long as the page may refresh.
Well i can see alot of people not even bothering, bit of a bother if you have 5 family members to apply for!!!!! better start now for 2009 season
